From .ra to .wav?
I wanna burn .ra files onto a CD!

When I burned .wav files on a CD, I couldn't listen to the CD! It didn't work! WHY?

Converting MP3 or WAV file to a MIDI file
How can I convert an MP3 or Wav file to a MIDI file? I wish to use this on a web site and want to reduce the number of kb used. Do I need special software? Where can I get it?

Neither of those two versions are available anymore
but you can download the Finale 2001 demo for Mac

Adaptec jam...
Adaptec's 'Jam' is a simple but excellent program from arranging then burning CD's. The newer versions let you put MP3,WAV,AIFF's in the window and it will copy them all without need for conversion. This is not a solution, just a comment. Like Geoff said, go get the files he suggested

Need to play MIDI like on arranger keyboard
I need to play a midi file live on stage, being able press a key on the comp keyboard (or MIDI keyboard) so that the song repeats one section (verse), then press another key, making it to repeat another section (chorus) until another key is pressed - you see, just like the style playback on an arranger keyboard. Cakewalk Home Studio 8 Freezes on Exit Need Help!
I have Cakewalk Home Studio 8 in which I just brought. The problem that I have with it is when I'm exiting the program in which it doesn't shut down automatically. It freezes up and I will have to hit Crtl-Alt-Del to get the Close Program Taskbar on Windows 98 to come up and it will indicate that cakewalk in which it's indicated as CWHS (NOT RESPONDING) on the Close Program Taskbar. Then I will have to highlight it and hit the end task button. I also put it on my friend's computer and it does the same thing and both of our computers are P II 300 systems with 64MB of ram. I also want to cakewalk Web Site and theirs nothing to correct the problem is their anything around to correct the problem such as a patch or any adjustments in Windows 98 configuration. Can you please let me know.

Hi I was wondering could someone help me. I have a soundblaster live card and can record my midi recording to wav format by going to the mixer and setting it to midi.It works perfect, but it does not work with any VST instruments. I know that they are derived from part midi, part audio components, but is there a way that it can be done? Any help would be extremely gratefull.

If you have soundblaster live card, set up the mixer to record "What U Hear", and mute all other channels open up any recording device press record and then press play in Cubase and thats it. (soundblaster live is duplex, so it can play midi/audio at the same time as recording it.)
What am i suppopse to do?
I sampled a sound with my cool edit pro. Everything is fine but when i want to open that sound with fruit loop it tells me that i need a *.flp or if i import it with beat slicer it tells me Problems encountered while slicing the sound file. What am i suppose to do?

Problems ripping CDs
I have now encoded almost all of my extensive cd collection to mp3. As I upgraded my sound system, I realized that the sound quality was noway "near cd quality". A further inspection showed that neither mp3 files nor wav files were direct copies of the original cd sound (Yes, I am using true cd-ripper software and is not just recording analogue signals from the cd-rom player).
In fact, the signal of the ripped wav files exceeds the limits of the file format, resulting in the sound waves being cut off at the "edges". The result beeing that the wav files (and then also the mp3 files) sound as if they were played at a very small amplifier on maximum loudness. The problem is undoubtly somewhere in the cd-ripping process, though. I have used used several cd-rippers, all giving the same result. The mp3 files I have downloaded from the internet don't have this problem.
Has anybody got a clue about what is wrong?

Fruity loops and beat slicer
When i try to import a beat threw beatslicer. A message comes up saying: Problems encountered while slicing the soundfile. what am i suppose to do?

i have a soundblaster live too.
it has two emulator samplers on it and are pretty
good, but the editing is shit. to compile audio wav. files for playback, vienna is the editor .
its a bit of a pain in the arse but we're all waiting for something better to come along.(it is free tho)
to get your files into your pc, go to audiograbber.com
a great program that rips files directly off a cd to your hard drive. bloody fast too!
its about 29:00 uk.
i've been using wavelab lite, available free with most copies of cubase or i think you get a copy bundled with your soundblaster!!
i've upgraded to the full version which is 'kin overpriced but very good.
i mainly like it as it follows the same keyboard commands as cubase.

Hi there,
If you're just atarting out, you'll need a decent audio editor to create the samples. I recommend either Sound Forge or Cool Edit 2000. Find em here: <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/cat/AUDIO_EDITORS/">http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/cat/AUDIO_EDITORS/</a>
Once you've got a heap of samples together, you might want to check out the <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/win95/RE-MIXING_DJ/">ReMixing/DJ</a> part of the site. Try checking out Acid, FruityLoops and any number of audio tools that will help you do things such as slice beats and time-stretch.

Hi,
I am looking to find the jazz pianist and the jazz pianist II by pgmusic.
Pgmusic no longer sells it, I have
asked them several times. Jazz standards were recorded using a midi
keyboard. I guess there may have been
possible copyright infringement problems and they have discontinued
this software. I have tried several
places on the net that still advertise them on old out of date webpages but
no one has it. One place still has MAC versions but no
PC versions.

Two ways:
1. Try the Megafont utility (your search engine will hint you). Thus you can override the AudioHQ limit.
2. Got a 1kB utility to exceed the 32mB cache limit. Wanna me to e-mail it to you?

in the description of a lot of these programs for Cd burning
they make it sound like these programs will burn CD's for you
WITHOUT A CD WRITER/BURNER/WHATEVER personnally i downloaded mp3 bee
which seemed to require a cd writer burner plus it didn't recognize napster mp3's
what the f? and neither did this other one Cd architecht
anyways are there any programs (shareware) that do burn cds
w/out the burner and do they recognize napster
if so what and where are they

John,
no CD burning software is going to copy or burn a CD without a CD writer. If you have a cd writer then the best, by far is CD clone. With MP3s you need some software to convert into WAV format before you burn onto CD.

what are you stupid, ya you need a burner to burn a cd. You have to convert mp3 in to a wav file before it will play in a cd play. If you dont it will still play, but only on computers that can play mp3's. I dont mean to be rude, but please dont be stupid.

Hi stephane, I have an EM22 that's the module version. It sound OK, somewhere in the Matrix 1000/6/r range. It's a DCO synth and if you program it you've got to press [enter] all the time. Plus it has MIDI and that's it, just note/aftertouch/velocity/pitchbend/modwheel. For data storage you can use sysex, but you've got to send a request first. No external programming with this one!
