Goto Softseek.com, there you can download a program that will allow you to rip and record Stream files. Once at Softseek click on mp3 section then ecoders then I believe this program starts with a (V) not sure in anycase I know you can record Stream files, I don't know if you can decode or encode to any other size. Hope this info helped

Use Total Recorder to copy the Real Audio to WAV
while you listen to it then use your favorite
MP3 Encoder to turn the WAV file into an MP3 file.

You can get Total Recorder at

and you will find heaps of great MP3 Encoders at

WinOnCD burn errors

I am having trouble burning music CDs with WinOnCD from the CE Quadrat package. The .wavs have been converted from mp3s with Winamp, but the burned discs have a stutter/pulse that makes them useless. 'Disk at once' is optioned, bit rate mostly 128, the sample rate is 44, printer off, resident software is off -- any other ideas or is WinOnCD a dog?

There isn't anything I've seen for free which will
let you record live streams. One of the best programs
for doing this is <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/TotalRecorder/">Total Recorder</a> which only costs
$11.95 to register for the full version. The shareware
version will only let you record 40 seconds at a time.

I know that this question will have been asked thousands of times before, but here goes. First, I know that it is not 'really' possible to 'convert' midi to wav - as midi is basically just sequence data etc.. and that wav is not. Anyways...This is what I want to do:
I wan't to write some tracks (with cubase VST) using samples (audio) and sounds from my Soundblaster Live card (MIDI). Is it 'at all' possible when I have finished the tracks, to capture the output to a WAV file? Also, if this cannot be achieved, would it be possible for me to simply (if it is simple:-) create a track using my SBLive (soundfonts) and then get the output to a wav?
I'd really appreciate any help at all.

I'm not familiar with your equipment. But if you are using Windows 9x or 2000 it should be very easy. As long as your sound card plays the sound (and not only some external equipment) you can use Windows' own Sound Recorder to record anything into .wav format. Your sound card will probably use an analogue signal somewhere in the process, but with a good SoundBlaster card that should not be noticable.

I am looking for utilities that will do the conversion you are interested in. So far, I have only found one: Adaptec 5 has a utility in its suite that can handle it. the problem is the results are spotty at best. I am still looking. If you have found it, please tell me too!

Levels and Records

We are using this product at NWMSU and have placed the program on a server. Recently the server had to be reloaded and now all student records are lost. The program is forcing students to start with Unit 1 although they are ready for Unit 12. How can we fix this problem? Help!

Sync Sequencer to "live" drummer

Does anyone know of a way to sync a sequencer to a "live" drummer in real-time? I've got the Kahler Human Clock, but it isn't that reliable plus it takes too long to reset paramaters for live performances.

You can download a program called <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/cgi/htdig/htsearch.cgi?method=and&format=builtin-long&config=htdig&restrict=%2Fsmm%2Fprograms%2F&exclude=&words=Vocal+Remover">AnalogX Vocal Remover</a>
to do it.

But be warned - no program can tell the difference
between vocals and other sounds so they use a process
which combines reversed phase stereo chanels.

Without going into all the technical details it means
the results will vary depending on how the recording
was made and how intact the stereo channels are - this
is a problem with low bit rate MP3s.

SoundFonts and sequencers

I'm rather fed up of using Cakewalk Pro Audio.
I'm thinking of moving to Cubase VST or Logic Audio.
So, I have a copy of cubase (not the newest) and I don't find the way of using soundfonts on it.
Is it possible and how do you manage soundfonts in Cubase or/and Logic Audio?
I'm also looking for an decent sounfont editor, an alternative to the awful "Viena". Please...

How to Make CDs with Random Lists Of MP3 Files

I would like to be able to record CD's containing MP3
files in random order.

In other words, I'd like to be able to take directory
of MP3 files and shuffle them into Random Order and then
record the result onto a CD, in that order.

Windows File Manager insists on sorting files into
alphabetic or a choice of other orders. The only option
is to transfer to MP3 files manually to the recording
software.

Anybody with any good ideas??
