It's a Compaq P3 500, SCSI with a Live platinum card. prog boots up, but when press record, bang this message appears. ANYONE got a clue?

: I downloaded a MIDI file from a Pipe Organ MIDI page. Track 5 is often used for registration information and the writer of the web page says for people with sound cards to delete Track 5. Does anyone know if the Power Track Audio program will delete Track 5 of a MIDI file ? I do not want to spend almost $100 for Cakewalk if I do not have to just to edit one downloaded MIDI file.

At the top of the program there is a pull down menu called track in it has erase .
click on the track you wish to delete and then when it is hilited go to Track at the top
of the program and click on Track. and then click on erase. this will erase the track
and the contents in it. then save your program on top of the old one this should do it
for you . you have to have the tracks open, then one that shows all the tracks and if
there is any contents in them. if you look to the side there will be a number. for
instance say 342 , if there is no number there there is nothing in the track. if there is a
name on the track but no contents in it you can delete it this way. cakewalk is about
the same way as power trace as for as deleting a track
you would be wasting your money and time to buy it to delete a track. you might
have the same problem figuring it out.

you are going to want as much ram as you can get, as for software, cakewalk has some good products, i also use digital orchestrator, but i perfer cakewalk

Most music shops that deal in pro-audio will help you with pro-tools although it has to be said that because it's software and hardware based and aimed at the highest professional, it's very expensive. You could have a look at the Digi001 PCI card and audio interface which comes with the Pro-Tools Lite version and will work without any additional hardware.

Winamp doesn't make CDs. What speed is your burner? The slower the burner, the slower the CD will take. If your burner is 2x, then nearly an hour makes sense. Do yourself a favor, though, get rid of that adaptec crap and use nero, much easier, more versatile, and a helluva lot more reliable. If your writer is faster than 2x, try Nero and see if works quicker. Luck.

Compress it first to reduce the high sections and make them equal to the low sections. Afterwards, when you have a fairly uniform level throughout, then 'normalize' to raise the overall loudness until it is just hitting peak.

I don't know what the name of it is (tip of my tongue), but go to download.com, select MP3/Audio section, and then take MP3 Insider. This will give a list of recent articles in the mp3 column, and one of them clearly deals with this specifically, with software names and all. Hope it helps.
