: : : : I am searching for a utility that will convert a "Mono" RM format audio file to a stereo MP3 or WAV format. I use RealPlayer 7 and am attempting to convert so I can save to CD-R but RP7 says that it cannot save a mono file to "any" format at this time. Is there a tool available that will do this? I have been looking for a while now with no luck and I really want to find one. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks ahead of time for your help!

mp3 to wav-quality issues?
Hi! I've been told that not all mp3 to wav converters are created equal and that sound quality can vary wildly. Can anybody shed some light on this for me? I'd like to do a few conversions to play on my home stereo and would like the best sound quality I can get.
Thanks! Email reponses are fine....
Chris
Re: mp3 to wav-quality issues?
Fraunhoffer is a really good one, quite popular, but what you pay for is what you get, is definately true... however, I hear that Winamp is changing over to the Fraunhoffer decoder/encoder. I'm not usre if it's true though.

Re: mp3 to wav-quality issues?
I can't recommend a converter for you, but I know something that you won't like:
You always get what you pay for.
Re: mp3 to wav-quality issues?
Just download some and try them out. Quality will depend on the original mp3's quality and how it was encoded. There's a lot of freeware and shareware out there to do this.
Good luck

sfArk files are compressed soundfonts, much like a zip file. To be able to use a sfArk file you need to download sfArk and uncompress your file to a SF2 file. I think you'll be able to find sfArk on this site. The non-commercial version is FREE :)

Can I make .wav files from mp3 files?
Hi,
I want to do a Powerpoint slide show with music
inserted in it. I have mp3s, but PowerPoint only works
with wavs. Could you please tell me if it is possible
to make my mp3s .wav files, and if so, how I should go
about doing this?
Thanks,

Hi
Excuse me for saying so but it would be a good idea to take a look first at the message board to see if the answer to your question is already there before you add it.
Re: Can I make .wav files from mp3 files?
I like Internet Audio Mix from www.acoustica.com. It's affordable and works drag and drop; just schlep your mp3 into a track and it turns into a wave. Has other uses too

Recording from my hardware sequencer to Cakewalk
I'm trying to record files from my Roland MT200 onto Cakewalk to save them as midi files. The midi connection is made and the clock is working but i cant get Cakewalk to record anything. The cursor moves along in sync with the MT200 but nothing is recorded. I'm very much a beginner at Cakewalk so am probably doing something really stupid. Can anyone give me a quick idiots guide to doing this?

Hey,
First make sure that your MIDI gear is hooked up properly. Check your MIDI interface and drivers. Do you have the right Midi port and channel selected in Cakewalk? I'm not sure why you are having problems. Go through the manual step by step and that should help.
advice about which prog to get
I have a fairly high spec computer and want to
use it to connect to my midi keyboard, use wav loops,
record from mic and other sources, mix, edit, filter,
sequence etc etc. I read music, and would like full notation,
but also piano roll, wave view and so on. Which program
should i get, and does it exist as a free download.
Also, is there a good book/file that will introduce
the technical stuff I need to know?
ANy help appreciated, Ben
Re: advice about which prog to get
Pick up a copy of Electronic Musician Magazine, and you will see what is possble. You will reealize that shelling out 100$ now in order to find out later that you really need 200$ software, then finding out after shelling that out that you need 600$ software... the cycle continues.
I say Logic (not platinum) or Cubase VST will work. Try to download as much documentation as possible on both progs.
As for a book: WIZOO just put out a book on desktop music production. Find their site (it's in germany but in english).
Re: advice about which prog to get
Anvil (www.anvilstudio.com) is free, but to get it to do most of what you want you have to purchase download some ad-ons. n-Track (www.facsoft.com) will do most of that stuff; not free, but affordable. Power Tracks (www.pgmusic.com) is good too; it's best ordered with the CD and manual - good manual for a $29 piece of software.
I have my keyboard hooked in with a Midiman Midisport USB MIDI interface; works well. It took me a long time to figure out how to configure everything to get the sounds in that I wanted; there's not a lot of help out there.
The tricky part is getting MIDI tracks converted to .wav so they can be mixed down to a final for CD's or MP3's.

Hey,
There are only a few pieces of software on the market that have the capabilities that you need. You need to look into Logic Platinum and Cubase VST. They are both amazing programs that will suit your needs. No, they are not available as a free download.
Books: check out Modern Recording Techniques (4th ed.) Huber & Runstein...Focal Press.

Read this if you want to know how to convert mp3>cd audio format
OK. I;ll just start a new thread since I see this question pop up regarding how to play mp3s into car cd players etc.
Note, that mp3s are small, so if you burned mp3s on a cd, you could fit like 150 songs easy, if they are in 5-7min range. BUT, you can only fit around 15-18 songs after you convert them into cda format to listen to em on a cd player.
Ok. I would recommend getting Nero Burning Rom, a super easy and cool program to burn cds. This is what I use. Im sure you can do the same with CDRWin, Adaptec EZCD, and other programs, but for now lets just use Nero.
Load up Nero and when everthing is right (meaning the cdr is detected blah blah) click on New. The wizard opens up, and follow the instructions. Click on Audio Cd, since thats what we are gonna make. After the wizard is done, a new window pops up. Now all you need is the files and thats all.
Open up Winamp, and select whatever mp3 songs you have. Just use the playlist. Now, go into Options>Plugins and choose the diskwriter plugin, which will stream the mp3s into wav format, which you'll need. Beware, make sure you got space, since a 5min song in mp3 which is 5mb, is 50mb after its been exploded into wav.
After your done converting all the songs you want, go back to nero, and using the file browser, look around and select the songs, and simply drag and drop. Make sure the meterbar on the bottm which shows you how much space you have used on the cd is blue, until its at 640mb if your using 74min cds. It depends how big the cd you have. Usually on a 74min cd, 15 songs I think is the max.
After you've selected all the songs and draged and dropped them into the cd window in Nero, just hit burn, and thats it. After its done burning, test out the cd, and it should work fine :)
Re: Read this if you want to know how to convert mp3>cd audio fo
Do you need a burner to do this?
