drum machine/pc midi interfacing
hello, recently i invested in an alesis DMPro, am very new to the midi/pc stuff, and have had no luck in establishing or recognizing a midi port on my pc. i spoke with tech support at alesis and was assured even a "crappy sound card" would be sufficient to interface, but i'm not completely satisfied that mine will work. any suggestions or points in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. thanks

What "crappy sound card" do you have right now? It sounds like you are having a driver problem or your Alesis is not set up correctly to recieve MIDI. A real MIDI interface with real drivers would solve your problems.
Help needed on a MT-200 by Roland.........
I have recently purchised an MT-200, but it did not come with a manual. I would like to know if anyone could help me out, and give me information. Your help will be very appreciated.

what seems to be the problem
It sounds like a calliope
Very new to midi files. On every file I've
downloaded the sound reminds me of a circus. Even
when I isolate the string section, is sounds like
an organ instead of a violin. Is this due to the
reproductive capabilities of midi files, or the
limitations of my system's playback capabilities?

The sounds are generated by your pc's soundcard.
New soundcards like the soundblaster live have quite good sounds
made from actual recordings of notes from real instruments.
The adventurous can actually make their own presets.
Your problem with the 'organ' sound of the strings could be a combination of a crappy set of midi files (not unusual)
and a not-very-clever soundcard.
To try the existing soundfonts which are in your soundcard, why not download some sequencing software and play each sound?

Noisy punchin's used to be a problem with cheesy mixing desks generating a 'clack' sound when you unmuted the mute botton or pressed the record enable on the recorder. It was usually down to the quality of the equipment you were using, generating a unrequired surge of energy of it's own. Sometimes however, it was when you punched in with a noisy signal input, try gating the input. Also, try punching in as earlier as you can and do it when the track is quiet.
You could edit them out afterwards but it's probably more of a pain than you want.

IM HAVING PROBLEMS SWAPPING MY MIDI INTERFACE CARD[MIDIEDGE] FROM MY 486 TO MY ADVENT
COMPUTER.ITS GOT 2 MIDI PORTS IN AND 4 MIDI PORTS OUT WITH SELECTABLE PORT
SETTINGS & INTERUPTS........THE PROBLEM IS IS THAT I CAN LOAD THE DRIVERS & SELECT
THE PORTS AND INTERUPTS FOR MIDI PORTS 1 IN 1 3 & 4 OUT BUT ALTHOUGH I CAN LOAD
THE DRIVER FOR 2 IN & 2 OUT EVERY TIME I TRY TO SELECT THE PORTS & INTERUPTS
FOR IT IT SAYS WHAT I SELECT DOSENT MATCH THOSE OF WHATS ON THE CARD

What steps do I need to take to get my microphone working tso I can call & talk from my computer? It dials out ok from the phone dialer, but I hear no one I call. I know I got through to the person because they called me back wondering why I called. Also, after dialing, the only way I can close the dialer is to press the Ctrl-Alt-Del buttons. My computer is a NEC Ready 9732. Thanks for the chance to even ask someone. I'm a real novice on computers.
Editing recorded environment to remove tunnel sound
Is there any new or existing software available for basic pcs that will allow 3d sound, environment or stage settings so that sound recorded using a microphone as WAV or other compatible sound file doesn't sound like a tunnel?
SoftSynth Beta Tester Wanted
We are developing a softsynth for the PC Windows platform.
This is being designed to appeal to keyboard players, (as opposed to our
other softsynth which is more for techno trackers).
Another beta tester to help evaluate it is badly needed. In exchange for
beta testing you get a free version and a credit in the app. Also you can
contribute ideas and presets.

- Are a keyboard player with a MIDI setup.
- Own a Windows system at least 250 mhz with a true, (non-emulated),
DirectSound driver.
- Have decent sound monitors so you can evaluate quality.
- Have some experience with analog synthesizers, (the more the better).

Convert Audio to midi with AMAZINGMIDI available on this site, then use somthing like finale or cubase score to do the rest.

Sorry, there ain't no such beast. It's the same as asking for a program that can put recordings of people talking into typewritten pages.
Music is a language, and it's just as hard (or just as easy, depending on how you look at it) as learning to understand and write any spoken language. There are no real shortcuts to this process. Computers are still way to primitive for such complexity.

Yeah it is true. there is no software to convert wave files into music sheet.
But the cakewalk convert midi files to music sheet.
I think even the mp3s the cake walk home studio 9.

Could someone guide me, which single software can be used
to create digital audio files in various formats
like wav, au, mp3, ra, ram.

Look under Wav Editors
All wav editors use multiple file formats and can therfore convert too.
IF you need one for mass conversion, get one with a batch processing feature.

Try downloading cool edit 2000 demo version
and checking it out. I used it to convert mp3 data
files to wav files and wave files to mp3 files. also
used it to convert my own recordings from 48000 khz
sampling rate to 44100 16 bit with no snags so I could
record them on cd. I will probably wind up buying

It's been a while since I last used it but I'm pretty

Does anyone know of a way to replace the MIDI sounds in QT4.x with better ones (without doing the obvious and using an external module)? I seem to be the only one, but I think the built-in sounds are atrocious. I've searched around and can't seem to find any info on the subject. Any help would be much appreciated.

Can someone pls tell me how to convertthese compressed audio files such as bin,viv,java,btz,pdf,avi,class.These files were downloaded from mp3 sites but i want to convert them back to wav.Tell me How thanx?
