Re: How to make Generator and Cubasis work together..?
A virtual"midi" cable like MIDIYoke will do the trick to get from Generator to Cubase, and I believe Cubase can be configured to access Generator internally. Check your MIDI settings in Cubase and activate Generator's port.
: I´d like to know what I´ll need to make my Generator and Cubasis sned and receive midi-messages from one to the other.

You could use Easy-CD Audio from Adaptec. It's not free though.

Kenny,
One of the most useful and friendly products is the MAGIX Music Maker
It is relatively inexpensive and very operable interface. The loops and
cuts are all royalty free. I have used it for over a year and have
produced some very salable tunes.
Re: Making Techno and Club music
acid program from sonic foundry.
or get hammerhead plus stomper to make up loops.
hammerhead is freeware

Re: Making Techno and Club music
I use Magix music maker, but i dont like using
the samples, thats for untallinted fucks.
use ReBirth 2.02 or higher. it has a good beat box
for making your own loops, not just copying.
its great roland tb303 snths too. its great.
acid is good too.

Looking for a real-time mp3 encoder
Hi,
I'm looking for a program for win98 that records what is sent
to the "line-in" on my soundcard, and encodes i real-time to mp3.
I'm thinking of a process similar to what a MiniDisk record do
when it records from an analoug source.
MP3 to Wave software?
How can I create a CD which I can play with my CD player based on MP3 songs??
Re: MP3 to Wave software?
all you need is a MP3 decoder. (I think you
already have a prog to burn CDs...)
go to www.winamp.com and download the newest
version of WinAmp. with it comes a plug-in to
write WAVe-files which you can burn on CD.

Ok, I am stupid....Will someone please direct me?
Thanks sniffa for your previous advice. I have placed the cdfs.exe in the appropriate directory. When I view the cd, I see 10 track.cda's with 2 directories. In those directories are 2 more directories with 3 directories in each of those. I am sure most know what they are named. (stereo, 8 bit, 44100hz, etc.) I guess what I need to know is what to do with them now. I am unsure of what to copy to my compilation cd. Do you rename the track 1 to something else? I have multiple cd's that I want to copy track one over to the new compilation cd. Do I rename them to track two, etc ? Basically, I need a step by step. Sorry, but when it comes to audio ripping I am a complete idiot. If this is too much for someone to answer, can someone please direct me to a "how to" or tutorial? Any help will be MOST appreciated. Thank you for at least "listening" to my rambling.
Re: Ok, I am stupid....Will someone please direct me?
Well, 16bit, 44,100hz, stereo is the choice you want to use for the hightest quality track. Browse thru the folders until you get to the folder that includes these WAVs. You can rename the tracks in the CD layout (depending on what SW you are using) to whatever you would like.

Ok, is this correct?

Thanks nightfishing. In my ignorance to this, these are the steps I would take. Please, someone, correct me where I am wrong.
Browse to the audio cd to the folder stereo/16bit/44100hz and select the track I want. Click and drag to a directory on my hd. Once copied, rename to the particular track # I want it to be. (i.e. I copy track 4 off of a cd. I can rename it to track 1.) Take a blank cdr and then click and drag the song onto the blank cd. Thus, I would end up with a cd, with NO directories on it, just the 10 wav's labeled tracks 1 - 10 on it. (or however many fit) I will end up with a cd, that when viewed will have track1.wav, track2.wav, etc. This will play in my brothers car cd player?
A separate question, what are the track1.cda, track2.cda, etc ? I don't do anything with these? I just end up with a cd that has no directories and only has the 10 wav files on it? I apologize if my questions sound dumb but I really know nothing about this.
Re: Ok, is this correct?
I may have missed the beginning of this, but.....
in order to have a CD play as a "normal" Audio CD, you will want to have the tracks burned as CDAs not WAVs.
Unfortunately a CDR does not work like a floppy, you can not just drag and drop to a CDR. You need to use SW to burn a CD.(EZCDCreator etc.)

Can I use a Zip 250 with an MPC 2000 XL
I have just bought an MPC 2000 XL and I cannot find an SCSI Zip 100 to save my sounds. Apparently all the shops in my area are out of stock and Zip has stopped manufacturing them? Now the music shop tells me that a Zip 250 will not work with my MPC...
Can anybofy help? Is there a special driver that I could install in the MPC that would allow me to use a Zip 250.
Thanks for any help.
Re: Can I use a Zip 250 with an MPC 2000 XL
im currently using a jaz and an orb drive with a mpc 2000 xl they both work fine as should a zip 250
Re: Can I use a Zip 250 with an MPC 2000 XL
there's no reason why a SCSI-Zip250 shouldn't
work with the MPC2000XL.
but if you want to be sure ask if you can give it
back if it doesn't work. (if so, let me know ;)

Re: Can I use a Zip 250 with an MPC 2000 XL
I Have an Mpc 2000 xl with a Iomega 250mb zip
drive. I brought it from Comp Usa, however you need to get the connector from Sam Ash. Otherwise you'll have to pay 91.00 dollars at Comp usa to Buy a scsi II connector which fits into the mpc 2000 xl and a scsi adapter which fits into the Zip Drive.
Zip 250 with an MPC 2000 XL?
I have a 250 mb zip drive and a mpc 2000xl. The zip has a daisy chain parallel port and my mpc has a scsi port. I don't know how to get the two to communicate. I have wide scsi to narrow scsi adapter and a scsi to parallel cable, but when I tried to save files on my mpc to the zip nothing happened. Please help

Converting .it to .wav?????????
I need a program that will allow me to
convert impulse tracker .it files to .wav
files. Anyone know of one?
Please e-mail me if you do.
Re: Converting .it to .wav?????????
Winamp will do it with the diskwriter plugin, i'm pretty sure this plugin comes with winamp. The plugin should convert and winamp supported file to a wav.

a CD is a CD????
In a recent post, a comment was made that the quality of the blank CD-R used could be
part of the problem. I'm new to this CD burning stuff, so please fill me in!!!
1)As in cassettes, there's various grades of tape. What do I look for in blank CD's???
are there different grades or do I just shop by name brands???
2) I see blanks are being sold as 4x blanks or 8x blanks. How critical is that???

most times it's enough NOT BUYING the cheapest
blanks.

if you own a cd-burner that can write 8x then
you need blank CDs that can be burned 8x. but I
think those ones are more expensive.

Re: Which software is best for converting CDA into WAVE and MP3?
As far as ripping to MP3, I would recommend Audiograbber (free) and the Blade Enc (also free).
It is a great compromise between a proggie like SoundLimit (Iso) that produces HighQuality but at a low speed and The Xing encoders that are ultra fast but produce poor quality MP3z.
Audiograbber is a great interface and the BladeEnc will give you high quality sounding tunes.
Blade http://home8.swipnet.se/~w-82625/
and I'm sure you can find AG right here at SMM.
If you are looking to just convert to WAV, you can download a replacement system file, that will READ CDs as WAV files directly.
You can get it (along with a brief description of how it works at my site (in the skins section)
http://thrill.to/nightfishing
hope this helps.

Can someone describe?
can someone describe ambient music for me? i'm pretty sure i've heard it before, i'm just not sure i know exactly what it sounds like.
Re: Can someone describe?
: can someone describe ambient music for me? i'm pretty sure i've heard it before, i'm just not sure i know exactly what it sounds like.
Okay, I'll take a stab at it. If you think of the word "ambience" that applies to
a particular feel or warmth of a room or decor. The same is truem with ambience
in music. It deals not with the primary signal itself, but the surrounding sound
that accomanies the primary sound. It could be the effect of a "live room" giving
off a warm ambience, i.e. the opposite would be a "dead room" where you hear
nothing but the primary sound source and no ambient effect.

Re: Real Audio to Wave! HELP PLEASE!
Yeah, lots of us feel the same way! Try virtual audio cable or total recorder. can't rmember where they are, but you'll find them if you go to the search page.
