***could you please help me? I'm trying to use the demo version of Cool Edit Pro--is there any way to save the altered file in another folder in order to burn it onto a CD?

which audio editing software for sweetening interviews for docum

Maybe you could recommend what would be best for me.

I'm a video producer and have a documentary project that needs the audio from talking head interviews sweetened. The levels are all over the place, and in some cases there is background noise. I would like to import wave files from my video editor into an audio software package to even out the audio levels (so the interviewee doesn't come across talking too loud in some places, and too soft in other places). It would
also be nice to play with noise reduction, but this is not a must have.

I don't need multitrack capability, or midi, or effects.

Obviously, if I could accomplish those functions with CoolEdit for $50, I wouldn't mind saving the money; but it is more important that the sound is right.

After I process the wave file, I'm going to export it back into my video editing package as mono tracks.

Do you have a suggestion on which package I should be using?

how do I get midi and audio in the same wave file with cubase. I recorded a song with cubase vst 3.7 with both midi and audio tracks. I want to get them in the same wave file so I will be able to change it in .cda format (to put them on a cd). How can I do it ?

Hi
You have to record your finished midi tracks as audio tracks. Say your using a midi keyboard that you are also using the sounds from:
1. Make sure your midi connections are ok.
2. Connect the line out from your keyboard to the line in of your soundcard.
3. Mute all tracks in cubase exept the midi tracks you want to record as audio tracks.
4. Activate one new audio track and make it ready to record.
5. Press record on your control bar.
Now the midi track should be playing back as normal, but it is being recorded thru line in of your soundcard as an audio track, that enables you later to mix down with everything else to a master stereo track.

If you are using on-board sounds from your soundcard, the principle is the same exept that the sound generator is now your line out from your card and not the line out from your keyboard.

I use Encore 4.1.1 I could edit a.kar file but was unable to save it as a .kar file and
I lost the lyrics of the songs when saving it as .mid. Do you have any
idea how to do that ? Thanks.

Don't forget, Encore is a program to write music,
not to produce files in special formats. Its aim
is to produce a visual, printed output. If it's
able to read .kar files, fine. I don't believe
that it can save them, however. I stopped using
Encore in its 3.0 version, so I'm not perfectly
up-to-date-informed.

Thats right, 5.1 meaning that is supports 5.1 surround. I have used this card now for about a month and I think its a god-send. If you want more info on it goto www.sblive.com

Software to write songs for Yamaha Clavinova

I like to use the Disk Orchestra Collection (DOC) stuff you can buy in music stores, but I would like to write my own songs. I've got QuickScore Pro and I like how it works, but when I put those files into my Clavinova, they don't let you use all the fancy things the DOC disks do (like guide, etc.) Anyone have any ideas what type of software is used to write these DOC disks?

answer- for the guide to work the guide information must be on track 1 of the sequence. If your not hearing playback of your midi creations try saving in a different format {*.mid}
