AWE64Gold + Cubasis Audio

Hello, I have 2 Questions:
1.
Does Cubasis Audio run under Win NT 4.0 with AWE64Gold ?
2.
I can't record any audio data while the sequencer plays other audio data.
The manual says, this should be possible.
What could be wrong ?

I want to know if there is a music software program that allows one to manipulate and create sounds much like a keyboard? And then also provides the capability of editing, looping, distorting, and recording multiple tracks? I am not sure if there is such a beast and may have to end up buying a keyboard anyway but I would like any info.

I'll second that recommendation. I've only been
using Anvil for a few weeks, and it's already been
upgraded twice. Plus, I've gotten great support
directly from their staff.

The base package is free, so you can do some
experimenting. They stay in business by selling
add-on "accessories", which you might be
interested in if you like the product. I was :-)

I think it's an especially good package for
beginners because of the way the interface is
laid out. Try it to see what I mean.

Just my 2 cents.

Problem - MIDI being recorded with Audio Tracks in Cubasis Audio

I bought an AWE64GOLD & have been using the Cubasis Audio software ver 1.6 that came bundled with it.

I find that when I try to record an audio track with some pre-recorded MIDI tracks playing simultaneously, the MIDI tracks are recorded onto the same track as the audio.

Example -
I record MIDI Drums on Track 1
I record MIDI Bass on Track 2
I record Midi Stings on Track 3
Next I record my audio/vocal on Track 4

On playback of the whole composition, if I mute the MIDI tracks 1,2 &3, I expect to hear just my audio/vocal on Track 4, but I find the 3 MIDI tracks have been combined with my audio & I can't islolate the vocal ?

If anyone has come across the same type of issue & has any tips I'd be grateful if yuo could let me know please.

I'm running Win98 on a PeniumII 400MHz, 128MB RAM, 10Gig EIDE UDMA-33 Hard Drive. I believe I've setup the soundcard correctly & configured it for 'Full Duplex' etc

I'm thinking it might be a 'limitation' of the actual soundcard in terms of its internal bus routing of the MIDI/Audio streams but I'm not sure ?

Hi, I had this problem with an AWE32 sometime ago and solved it with the mixer settings. The midi recording mute option appeared after a driver update.

Just wanted to say thanks for peoples' time & advice on my problem with the midi being 'merged' with audio when recording with Cubasis & my AWE64 Gold.

I've got it sorted now after some good tips from people. - It was down to my naivety!

I didn't need a driver update - its even more embarrassing for me to admit but I'd overlooked the RECORDING INPUT MIXER function in windows. I just needed to open this & untick the midi fader. That way I could still hear MIDI on playback as the fader was still up in the Windows PLAYBACK MIXER but it wasn't selected to be recorded when I wanted to record audio.

The concert band in our school district goes to concert contest each year performing three songs. They are given a cassette tape of the concert. Can you tell me how to get these songs into my computer in a form that could be downloaded off our web-site. Each song is around 3 minutes long. I would like to archive the songs by year so graduates could go to the site and hear the music they performed when they were in school.

Hello there,

It's easy if you have a soundcard. All you have to do is hook up your stereo or cassette player, using a standard cable, with the IN port of your soundcard. Then you can use a program such as <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Cool_Edit_Win32/">Cool Edit</a> or <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/GoldWave/">GoldWave</a> to record the music as you play it on your cassette player or stereo. You can also improve the sound quality of the recording using this process with software. I do this occasionally myself when I'm dragging out some old demos and feel like putting them on the web for friends to hear.

vinyl to cd

I have a turntable hooked up to my computer via an amp and I can record but the quality is horrible because everytime there is any bass in the song it goes fuzzy. I am trying to put my records on cd so I can listen to them more often but with bad quality its pointless. I am recording the records onto my hard drive through a wav recorder because to put them on cd they have to be wav files. I cant find a way to turn the bass down. There is a place on my computer where it looks like you can do it but it wont let me adjust it. There is no place on the record player or my amp to do it directly there. run the whole file through sopmething like cooledit pro or sound forge and use the equalisation to turn the bass down and then resave it.

If you want to do this, you should consider turning your MIDI into a WAV and then to an MP3. I need to know about a music editing software called Pro Tools... I think that is it's name. A producer I know is using it to record, mix and edit a big pop-star's record right now and I'd like to know more about what it costs and how to find it.

Pro Tools is a baaddd program. You can do alot of different things with it. The program has several different versions, ranging in price from $800.00 to $2500.00. You should be able to get some more info on it from some of the bigger music stores like guitar center, Sam Ash, West L.A music etc.. Not sure if there is a web site.

i use either adaptec easy cd pro 95 or adaptec easy cd creator de luxe
just drag and drop the tracks of each cd and when you record, you will be prompted for each cd in turn. o.k.?

Making music crispy ! - help !

Midi volunteers needed for CRPG

We are currently producing a Japanese like RPG, similar to Final Fantasy
III/Lufia/Breath of Fire for the PC. The game engine is rougly 65% done
and our artists are currently composing maps and sprites for the game. Our
game engine uses DirectX 5.0 (or later) and runs on Windows 95/98. The
game is 2D and is based on tiles (most SNES rpgs and some Playstation rpgs
are tile based). Currently, there are 5 months remaining in this project.
It is a freeware game so we are looking for volunteers only. Volunteers
should have some free time to help us out as we are on a rigid schedule.
Also, we wouldn't want to impede on somebody that is too busy with school
and has a heavy workload.

We are looking for volunteers who enjoy Japanese RPG style music. Any
MIDI samples you send us must be original and from your own work. We
also accept compositions that you have archived but have not distributed
commercially or publicly in any other games or products.

For an example of the type of quality we expect out of our midi composers,

Amon tobin is using different sample of some old jazz venil.after he sample them he is just doing breakbeat with the sample.To have a fat sound,Just bought a good equalazer and a good compressor.
