Hi there,

There are three main ways to do it. Firstly, you could purchase <a href="http://www.real.com/">RealPlayer Plus G2</a> as it allows you to save .ra files. You could also get hold of <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/musicsoftstore/VirtualAudioCable/">The Virtual Cable</a> as it gives you the ability to digitally record the output of youe audio programs. Finally, and more dodgier, is to hook up your cassette player to your soundcard and record the sound on cassette. You could then record the sound back onto your hard disc from the cassette. Hope this helps.

get Streambox VSR verion 1.0 Beta. That will capture real audio/video to you HD. You have to search a bit but it's out there.
later versions don't capture anymore so forget about those. Have fun!

If you have a DECENT soundcard (like my sb live) you can just get it to sample its own output, thereby not losing any quality, because the data remains digital the whole time.

You fucking son of a whore.. go learn english, before you reply to others posts.. That guy meant that if you download the .rpm or .rm, they point to a remote address on the server side, and they are merely 1k in size.. He was looking for a way to download the entire ~1MB file from the server and then use something like the streambox ripper to convert it to mp3..

i downloaded demo version of retro as-1 from
cakewalk and it is pretty good, nice sounds, 909 drums
n shit i havent use it much but i guess it's easy to
use and one can make some catchy tunes with it.

Looking for MP4 encoder which is better than MP3!

I just tried the PsyTEL MP4 encoder, the very latest
version with 128KB/s encoding and played it back on
WinAmp with the AAC plug-in...and it sounded _awfull_.
The same test using the Xing encoder produced excellent
results with MP3 and especially variable bitrate MP3.
The variable bitrate MP3 sounded better right down
to the low/normal rate compression.

I know this is experimental freeware but I am just
curious...
1) Is MP4 (aac) really any better than MP3?
2) Have I got duff software for the job? If so can
anyone recommend something better?

No sounds work with my cubase, what's going on?

I have got a copy of Cubasis AV, a laptop computer with some lame soundcard and a controller keyboard. I also have a copy of Evolution sequencer. The thing is, that in Evolution I can make sounds and even change which instrument, but in Cubase there is no sound at all. Why would that be? Thank you.
