hi- i got a dr- 660 also- great machine!!! great news!! there is -but its not software its hardware. there is a daughter board coming out called the CANCUN from Turtle Beach. I have contacted tech support about it and they say it will be out around three weeks from now 5-11. they said it has the tr-808 kit which is why i chose to wait.

I am using PMA 5 with Jammer Professional 4.0. How can I use the controller 0 to specify GS insturment patches which are not part of the GM? I am also interested in locating those who use PMA 5 with sequencers (eg CAKEWALK) for the purpose of "picking their brain."

I use a PMA-5 from a 486 laptop running Cakewalk. I got the drivers off the Roland website and I made the cable myself following the cable wiring diagram in the PMA-5's manual. Works like a dream, and with the Roland patch editor that came in the box with my (admittedly ancient) version of Cakewalk Home Studio (for Windows 2.0!) I can access all the esoteric reverb and chorus controls that you can't get at just using the unit by itself. It's really great fun, but it takes a little mucking around before you really get the hang of what you're doing. The only thing I can't do is sync up Cakewalk to the PMA-5 to dump songs off it (and the darned thing fills up pretty damn quick) so I have to use WinJammer to do this. I definately prefer to use Cakewalk for everything else though.

Using controller 0 is really quite easy. You should have got a little cardboard chart with the unit that fits in the sleeve. You simply look up the voice you want and send the bank select value as a controller 0 instruction. This gives you the variation of whatever MIDI voice you have already selected. Eg. Controller value 7 (=8) and voice select 0 (piano 1) should give you the first piano variation in the unit. I haven't got it to hand, unfortunately, so I can't give you any specific examples.

hi! you should maybe check-out Steinberg's
spectralizer.

prosoniq's has voxciter,dynasone or mixciter all vst plugins

or check out WAVES , though they're DirectX

Needing help with the ADAT/PCR card

Yo! just got the adat/pcr card...and it sure looks good,on paper!Installed the card, transferred some tracks to the editing program and i was getting a lot
of pops/clicks during playback of the wave.Alesis tech
support said my windows 95 needed to be upgraded to 95
"b"...This i have done to no avail. Even before that..on the "connect" program on the hardware drop down, the "machine 1" selection will no longer light, so there's is no sync action...I've already switched to another pcr card...same results..Any help would be DEEPLY appreciated...thanks, Felix

Hi,
This may not work but if you tick the DMA checkbox under:
start>settings>controlpanel>system>devicemanager>diskdrives>genericIDE(or whatever your hard disk is)>double click to get
to settings> and then check the DMA box and hit OK and restart your computer.

This supposedly improves the performance of your hard drive which a lot of audio applications rely on eg:cubase etc.
Another thing to do is to always defragment your harddrive, the first time you try it may take 3 hours etc - but if you do it every
time on startup or before using an audio program it should only take a few sec'c to a minute. This also improves your
computers performance under stressfull applications.
You may already know this stuff, and I'm not sure if the DMA setting will only help UDMA hard drives. Give it a go anyway.

when i record one audio file its fine, when i record the second audio file the actual recording is fine but i get a radio quality copy of the first track also. this goes on for all tracks thereafter. can anyone help me. my system is as follows:
Pll 400mhz
288 sdram
17gb hard disk (4.3 c: & 13 d:)
windows 98
sounblaster live
external roland module
external mackie pro mixer
cakewalk 7 & 8

WINAMP 2.20--Will Not Play ID3 Tagged MP3's

Not sure if its a Bug or not in Winamp 2.20. I do know that it will not play any MP3's that I have ripped and Used ID3 tags and CRC "on" in Audiograbber. The MP3's that do play are ones that I edited the File name without using both CDDB and no CRC "on" options. I have sent a post to Winamp on their Web site. Anyone else experiencing this problem. Staying with Winamp 2.10.

New DX plugin available: Vocal Remover

I just finished up a new DirectX Audio plugin, which is available now on my website at:

in the downloads section... It will remove vocals from songs on CD or whatever using the same algorithm used by the hardware Karaoke's (180 degree phase sum). I decided to write this plugin when I ran across a company charging $100 for something that did the exact same thing - very lame. The technique doesn't work on all songs, but it does work on the vast majority, and even on songs without vocals, it can sometimes remove enough for you to get some really cool samples, if that's what you're into.

It works with any DirectX audio-enabled program, and REQUIRES a stereo stream to do it's magic. For those of you unfamiliar with my site, I offer a whole range of free music-related programs, along with some very cool original MP3 music, all on the site - check it out!

Music sheet editor Can I find some?

I was using Encore 4.0 as my music sheet editor to write my songs in notes. But It does not run under W98 and I want to find something which is at least good as Encore so I can edit my songs.

Can you help me find it? I would appreciate it very much.

there are few programs which are as good as Encore.
If you are from Slovakia, maybe you prefer german to english - in
this case, you might look for Finale at www.klemm-music.de, otherwise at
www.codamusic.com.
Be sure to have a look at Capella and Sibelius. If you are interested in a
german music software discussion forum, visit www.musica.at .

Rebirth 2.01, Cubase VST 3.65, Rewire and Two Sound Cards

Can anyone offer any advice on this setup on the PC, i launch Cubase enable Rewire open a few channels, launch Rebirth and it just hangs forever. Now this happened before i got my second soundcard, i thought buying the second one may cure the problem but no.
Ive an Ensoniq PCI and a Soundblaster Live, can anyone offer any input, as to the best sort of setup with a dual card system, even better advice on the Cubase/Rewire/Rebirth setup?

i'm looking for a program that will imitate a Denon
or simular cd player. I have two cd-rom drives
and wish to mix with them including altering pitch contol. I have a Sound Blaster 16 card, will
this be able to handle the processing power from two
cd drives.

i have tried CDumper from GMIXON.COM but this seems to
be quite buggy and will only play certain cd's.

Your help would be appriciated.

: Go into song mode and choose Edit->initialise song from pattern mode. This should set up all your buttons etc. Select which module you want to export as audio (mute the others) and choose
File->Export loop as audio file.
That's it you're done

How do you get the right sounds

I would like someone to describe in kid terms how to get the sounds from my roland xp50 to play through cakewalk, without using the general midi sounds. I have my board hooked up through the game port. Is there anything that I can do to get the sounds from my board?
