Splitting MP3 Albumbs into tracs

I have been able to find a lot of albums and collections for download but most come across as one long file. I can open them and chop them p but this takes for ever. I have found thatAlbumWrap Extractor works on some of them but not all. Are there anyother programs that will extract the Albums?

Thanks

Re: Splitting MP3 Albumbs into tracs

there is a program called mp3 trackmaker or something very similar. if not on this site it will be on the mp3machine site.

Keyboard not talking to PC - HELP !!!!!

I'm new to all this MIDI stuff and I'm trying to get my Yamaha S80 talking to my PC which is running XGWorks.
I've got the cable connected from the MIDI IN/OUT ports on the k/board to the 15 way D-type on the Soundblaster Live card on the PC.
PC is running Windows XP - Software is installed but needed an XP upgrade (d/loaded from web) to open.
Do I need a software driver (CBX or other?)?
What system and software settings need to be set in order for me to actually get the PC and k/board talking to each other ???
Plain "stupid-man's" language please.....I'm just a learner !!!!

Re: Keyboard not talking to PC - HELP !!!!!

Step1:
To Connect a MIDI Keyboard to Your Computer
One of the 5-pin connectors on the MIDI cable is labeled Out. Plug this connector into the MIDI In jack on your electronic keyboard.
The other 5-pin connector on the MIDI cable is labeled In. Plug this connector into the MIDI Out jack on your electronic keyboard.
If you are using a MIDI adaptor cable, plug the 15-pin connector on the MIDI cable into the MIDI/joystick port on your sound card. (If you have a joystick, unplug it, plug in the MIDI cable, and plug the joystick into the pass-through connector on the MIDI cable.)
OR
If you are using standard MIDI cables, plug the cable connected to the MIDI Out on your MIDI instrument into the MIDI In of your sound card or MIDI interface. Plug the cable connected to the MIDI In on your MIDI instrument into the MIDI Out of your sound card or MIDI interface.
Step 2:
After u get that hooked up go to SETTINGS on ur Pc go to CONTROL PANEL.Go to ADD NEW HARDWARE(double click it)follow the instructions.Go back to the control panel. Go to SOUNDS&MULTI-MEDIA(double click it),go to the AUDIO tab(click it), select ur keyboard under sound recording.
That should be it! If you wish to record music w/ ur keyboard I would get a good program like Sonar or Reason.Good Luck .Hope i could help!

Please give me a chance.

Hello every one? I have just written in to inform you of my small problem. As you may know Iam a certain African who is very much fond of music. I would like to produce my own but I have no start but if you can be mercifull and offer me a keyboard no matter how much old it will be, I will be very much pleased. May God bless you.

how do i record internet radio broadcast?

how do i record internet radio broadcast.and then burn it to a cd. thank you

Re: how do i record internet radio broadcast?

go to the audio recording section of this site where you will find several programs that record the output of other software, including realplayer and media player, etc. thats how you do it. you need a cd writer and cd burning software to burn your own CDs.

What are your top ten favorite electronic music albums ?

I just recently bought "The Seduction of Claude Debussy" by ART of NOISE. It's definately one of the best electronic albums I've ever heard. It is copyrighted 1999, so it's not even that recent, probably fleshed out during 1998. But, it is one of the most advanced and intellectually stimulating albums I've ever heard. I got it used, but this album was definately ahead of it's time. Unsurprisingly, the sense of humour and irony on this album rings true with me. Coincidentally, it comes to me at a time when I'm considering overdubbing acoustic piano improv over my electronic pieces. Art of Noise has already done this exactly as I could only hope would be possible.

I highly suggest everybody check it out. it's inspirational.

I haven't yet thought of my other 9 top 10 electro albums, but at least one of them would be ATTAK by KMFDM.

what do y'all think ?

Re: What are your top ten favorite electronic music albums ?

Just a few additional recommendations that maybe you might like.....
Quite a few of them are very laid back but really excellent.

Kid Loco - a grand love story
Kid Loco - Jesus life for.....
Nightmares on Wax - Carboot soul
Nightmares on Wax - Smokers Delight
Lemonjelly - Lemonjelly.KY
Hybrid - Wide Angle / Wider Angle (with bonus CD)
Orbital - any of the early albums
Alex Gopher - You, My baby and I.
Fluke - Risotto
Zero 7 - Simple Things
Death in Vegas - The contino sessions
Mr Scruff - Keep it Unreal
Thievery Corporation - the Mirror conspiracy
Daft Punk - Homework.

Regards,
Keith

Dr. Octagon prescribes Black Elvis solution for Cool Keith

interesting collection. i like orbital's style a lot.
i think you might like some old stuff by Future Sound of London. Daft punk is funny to me... they are addicted to vocoders, but bouncey fun. Is Kid Loco one of those URB magazine trick DJ scratchers ?

Re: Dr. Octagon prescribes Black Elvis solution for Cool Keith

sry i just find it odd how this convo jumped from Dr. Octagon to orbital, what a change indeed. orbital how ever is one of my personal favs, blue illusion, good stuff. then on a lighter note still some what of the same style telepop-musik. tracks like "breathe"...
Oh well i was looking for some more information on cool keith ended up type this crapcake.

later days.
N3M3

that should cure what ails me ! .......LOL

Hi Man,
hadn't heard of that one 'til now.
must check it out....
Yeah I like the old FSOL stuff alright !

I'm not familiar with URB...
No, Kid Loco is kind of like ethearal trip hop
(French)
I'd highly recommend it....especially the "Grand Love Story".....beautiful album.

Take care,
Keith

Re: What are your top ten favorite electronic music albums ?

I'll kick myself later for forgetting them all but..

Ricochet - Tangerine Dream
One Second - Yello
Leftism - Leftfield
Last Train to Lhasa - Banco De Gaia
(the first album) - Death In Vegas
(the first album) - Propellerheads
Into Battle with the Art of Noise - Art of Noise.
Computer World -Kraftwerk.

That's eight.

If you want some inspirational music, I suggest almost anything by a British band called Gomez.. Liquid Skin is quite a good starting point but I love them all..

Rimmer

Re: What are your top ten favorite electronic music albums ?

Yes, Ricochet by TD would be in my top three!
Also by those German Arty Knob twidlers how about Encore (USA Live) or Tangram (classic)!

Also in my top 10 would be Moon Safari by Air, Maya by Banco de Gaia and Stange Cargo 2 by William Orbit.

My definate number one would be Oxygene by John Michel
Jarre. Shame that from that album he whent slowly down hill.

Rollic

Yello and Kraftwerk are familiar and notably cool. I will have to check out Leftfield and Gomez. I have not heard of those two. The other bands you mentioned I have heard some of, but not enough to know what they're all about. Seems like you have good learned taste, though. I lot of little kids don't even know who alot of those bands you mentioned are. You picked some historically significant ones. I respect that.

Computer World, for example, could get put on the radio tomorrow, and would still sound cool enough and fresh enough to get people going. I don't jive to all Kraftwerk's stuff, but that album is one of the few records i kept when i cashed in my vinyl.

goood show, Rimmer.

Re: Rollic

Gomez isn't electronica. Did I mention that already? They are great song writers and performers with a weird edge, I had to throw them in... ')

Leftfields ''Leftism'' album is one of those 'must own' trancy records. John Lydon from the Sex Pistols does a track with them.. say no more...

Ricochet is a live album and has spent many a year in my cassette deck to send me off to a spacy sleep...

Burning Kareoke

I would like to know how to convert wav. files to a cdg files. Thank you!

Read-only files

Is there a way to make the information I am saving not "read-only"? I have saved quite a bit of data on my CD, and I do not want to input it again if I do not have to.

Thanks anyone,

Donna

I suggest something slightly different to Macintorque...

Unless you are a bit of an expert I would recommend only
changing the attributes of files from your CD otherwise
you could accidently delete or edit important system
files which could cause problems for your PC.

Copy your CD files to a directory like C:\Mycd using
explorer in Windows then reboot to DOS and do this:

cd C:\Mycd
ATTRIB -r -h -s *.* /S

This will only effect the files you have in that
directory (also called a Folder) safely leaving your
hidden system files locked away until you're ready to
deal with a higher level of risk and higher level of
control with your PC.

On the other hand if you have a CDRW drive and use CDRW
disks the files you put on them will be re-writable
without having to copy them to your hard-disk.

I hope this helps,
Jason.

Unlocking the hidden truths

well, if you copy it onto your hard drive, then you can make changes, but only after you set the files to be NOT read-only. You can do this on a macintosh by using DropAttribute (freeware). On a PC, you can restart in DOS mode, and type

ATTRIB -r -h -s C:\*.* /S

This command will take a very long time to process, but it will unlock all of the files on your C: drive.

-r = turn off read-only
-h = turn off hidden

good luck.

This command is also usful if you need to delete annoying invisible internet history files that keep showing up. This isn't perfect, but it helps.

The mac program can also effectively do the same thing:
show invisible files and folders, and unlock them.

a> play beats n save them

Delta 1010 or Omni Studio?

Anyone familiar with these products... I can get a 1010 for $500, or an Omni Studio for $300. Quality is my main concern, and price/performance 2nd. Any advice on which to purchase?

Thanks

Re: Delta 1010 or Omni Studio?

Check out the 1010LT if you can do without the breakout box. Both of the mentioned audio cards are highly regarded by me. The preamps in the 1010 are pretty decent.

Rimmer

Re: Delta 1010 or Omni Studio?

Does Delta 1010-LT have out puts for headphones like Omni Studio? If it doesnt, how does one get around it? And does it have for two headphones?

I just dont understand why Delta 1010-LT would have all of those nifty connectors in the back, and not have for two headphones, let alone one. None of the reviews mention this or address this.
