plugin synth or sampler for vst Mac?

I ask for the best freeware or shareware synthesizer or sampler vst plugin for Mac. How a plugin eg cesynth is triggered by midi messages from a cubase track?Is it a good solution for making music using vst for Mac?

...around here me ol' chum. I don't get into soft synths and samplers much so I don't really even know the Full commercial ones other than Unity DS and the Logic ExS24 (or something). There are a fair few but I don't know of many. I think Vibra1000 is a freeware monosynth but i'm not too sure.

have a look in the file area under SOFTWARE SYNTHS or SOFTWARE SAMPLERS

If it was 'working' why would anyone bother to pay for the 'real thing'? Ofcourse it's not full functional!!!

If 'Export Audio Tracks' is not highlighted then it will not export your songs. Apart from exporting a mix and saving (settings/tracks etc) most demos function as the full version will. Some say you can record a mix anyway as anything played by your soundcard is recordable by another application such as MS sound recorder for example.

Band in a Box poor notation

Does anyone know how to get Band in a Box files to print out charts using the repeat symbol and the DC al Capo or "back to the beginning" symbol. It Irritates me immensely to have to carry exactly double the weight of paper charts I should because I have to print 32 bar standards as a whole page instead of half a page.

The Folio (spirit I presume) will accept the mic and line inputs and output them as a line level that is suitable for plugging into the 'line' input of your computer (what computer?). You would then need some Audio Multitracking software like Logic Audio/ or Steinbergs Cubase. (there are others but it's easy to mention the top ones.

These programs will allow a suitable computer to record from the audio input on the computer and record to a mono or stereo track on the Multitrack. Depending on the Multitracker, you could get up to 96 or more audio tracks in this way, although that many tracks are reserved for the worlds fastest computers with lots of memory and an extremely fast hard disk. Most people live with many less tracks than this.

The previous mentioned programs can also record Midi information from a Midi intereface connected to your computer. If you don't have one then consider some of the newer USB interfaces like the MidiSport or the MOTU range. You could then connect you keyboard to and from the computer and record alongside your Audio tracks. You could then apply Fx to the Audio tracks and mix down to a stereo wave file.

Very simplified I know but it's generally there...!

Try some of the software on this site that will get you going.

Back Tracks for live performance

I'm looking for music composition software that can be used to generate files to be used in live performance. I want to be able to do arrangements of pop, jazz and blues tunes. Band in the Box sounds square and seems inflexible. Jammer might be better. Fruity Loops seems to be only newer stuff / techno /dance. Any suggestions?

HI!

You should go realmedia web site and download " realaudio basic server", and "realproducer" . All this should be installed on windows NT. Then just read help files and everything will go.

Maybe you shoud consider mp3 streaming. For for more information look on www.icecast.org

I recently bought and return a Lexicon core2 soundcard, this soundcard was great but it did not work well with frutty. F loops is not the best software in the world but i do not want to give it up, i feel good working in it. Just an idea. There is a chance that the S2000 can't read drives that size. The Akai is banging on a bit and although perfectly good, may never of been able to address such a large partition. I think you should check in the manual as you may have to format the drives into small partitions for the S2000 to work. My friend still uses an S2000. If you get really stuck then I could contact him for his views.

Does the akai know that the drive is there? do the drives have any LED's so you can see if there is any communication between the devices?

Data Becker's Music Centre Pro

Are there any manuals for helping one to get started in Data Becker's Music Centre Pro? The manual one gets with the program gives no help whatsoever to beginners in music sequencing. I have tried E-mailing Data Becker but got no reply

I have the program and the manual which I find perfectly adequate for beginers - have u read it?!! If u have any specific questions I'd be glad to help. MCP is a great tool and very easy to operate compared to a lot of sequencers out there!!!

Have you got any sound out of it yet?? You need to specify your soudout port under Options>Audio Devices OK? Select your soundcard for both audio + midi then and if the card is XG compatible select that option under midi to be able to use MCP's excellent midi manipulation facilities under Options>GM/GS/XG.

Acid Pro 2.0 - Timing problem??

I seem to have one major problem with with ACID PRO 2.0. When I open a loop, the speed that it plays at is not accurate and if I add vocals, the vocals will play a little faster than the music so the timing is always a little off. Does anyone know how this problem can be fixed?

If you hear 10 secs to 2mins then it drops out, it probably means you don't have enough bandwidth for radio. If you take a look at your player you will see when it stops if it is experiencing net congestion or not. If it happens all the time then you don't have enough bandwidth to listen to internet radio.

Converting voice to notes

Are there any programs that can convert voice through a microphone into music notation of professional quality? I know nothing about music construction but would like to be able to compose the music and then play it back as if it was played by differnt musical instruments solo and in combination. Hubi's Loopback Device

When I attempt to launch Hubi's Loopback
a message says "cannot find MIDLPBK.DLL".
Why doesn't that file come with MLBKCTL?
Where can I download that file?

Once you have unzipped the file - note the location then go to Add New Hardware in Control Panel. Select a manual item, then
select Sound etc Device from the list. Select 'Have Disk' option and enter location of unzipped files. Select *.ini file and enter.
Reboot at prompt and you should be working. Then just create a shortcut in the desktop or in your menus.
