Picking up midi tracks on audio recording

When I record an audio track, it also records the midi tracks I've already recorded, even though I use headphones and it therefore can't be coming through the speakers.

Any suggestions? I have sblive and cubasis av.

Not to worry. Your sblive software installation should have included "AudioHQ" --a collection of utilities. Open the AudioHQ and click on the Mixer. On the left end of the mixer you'll see a red rec fader with a symbol (probably of an ear) above it. Click on the symbol and choose whatever input you are using for your audio. This will be either "microphone" or "Line in." This fader chooses the input and inpute levels for recording. Have fun.

Re: Picking up midi tracks on audio recording

I know. I the mic/guitar goes in through the line-in. However, I have to have the midi channel open so I can hear what I've recorded already (and indeed any audio tracks I've already done). Is there any way of having it play those tracks without them being recorded as well?

mp3 files into wave files to put on a CD

I have tried using both cdex and MP32WAV to convert my mp3 files into wave format to record on my cdr. But when I do it my program still displays an error message stating "invalid wave format for cd audio recording. The valid format is 16-bit stereo sampled at 44.1 KHz in PCM." And when I add it anyway, it records pure static. These converters are converting the files on my computer to wav but they are not the right format of wave.
Is it just my cdr program, or is there a way to convert it to that type? Help, PLEASE!

HI

I use Winamp to convert MP3 to WAV and never experienced any problems burning the WAV files to an audio disk. If you got Winamp this is how it's done:
1)Go to the Options menu en select Preferences.
2)Go to Plug-Ins and select Nullsoft Disk Writer Plug-IN
3)Choose your target folder by double clicking on the plug-in or clicking Configure.
4)Close the window and open your MP3 files in Winamp. When you click "Play" it converts the MP3 files to WAV files just like that.
I haven't checked, but Winamp's just the kind of program you would find on this site to download or any other download site.

My music CD's won't work except on the computer drive.

I converted my MP3's to wave files, and burned them.
But, the CD will only play in my computer, and not in
any normal home or car stereo...I am using CD-R discs,
so that's not the problem.
Can anyone help me?

Re: mp3 files into wave files to put on a CD

: Don't quote me on this but I have a feeling you might have to convert your *.wav's to *.cda the native CD audio data format. There are tools out there that do this and I'm searching for one myself.

I'll let you know what I find.

Re: mp3 files into wave files to put on a CD

I have searched all over for a mp3 to cda converter and have come up with a few. The one that came with my cd/rw is Nero burning rom.

This application works great the only problem is the 1st 15 sec. of every track burned is corrupted with 15 sec. of skips. Fast forward past the corruption and the music sound incredible.

One I have'nt tried is music match jukebox supported by Creative Labs. MMJB Works great for playing all of your audio media files(mp3,cda,wav)

If anyone has an answer to my problem PLEASE HELP

From realplayer to winamp playable files

I was trying to put some songs I have that are realplayer on to an audio CD. But when I try to convert in winamp, the realplayer files are not supported by winamp. Is there anyway to get realplayer files onto an audio CD?

Re: From realplayer to winamp playable files

---> You need to vonvert the .ra files to wav files, then convert them into mp3's. One other option, is go to winamp.com, and get a RealAudio plugin.... THere are about 2 or 3.

To make them, go into your mixer program, and edit the presets, you can add flange, chorus, etc...

musical scores to .wav files to cd

I have scored music (on Encore{.enc} to Mastertracks Pro {.mts} which I need to format as .wav -- then to CD. WELL, I have used the Sound Recorder program, which does a job of formatting the files to .wav, but will not take large files (NOTHING over three minutes). I have a brand new HP Pavillion computer with CD-writer. Theoretically, I should have everything I need, but -- if I need a larger, stronger program than Sound Recorder, what do you suggest I get?

If you've been through this process, I would appreciate any help you could give. Thanks. vcs

Re: musical scores to .wav files to cd

I've been able to fake out Windows Sound Recorder to create large CD
Quality (44100, 16bit Stereo) but run into a wall somewhere around the
35+ minute length (size). There are two ways to fake out Sound Recorder
that I've discovered with experimentation. One is to use CD Writer apps
to copy an existing long CD Track to a WAV file (like Friesign Theater's
"Waiting For the Electrician" - This Side (~20min) and The Other Side
(also ~20min). You can then open that WAV file into Sound Recorder and
you have a 20 minute CD Quality playing field. Record over this, clip
off whatever is unneeded from the beginning and end and voila! Caution!
Somehow this confuses Windows virtual memory handling so that when you
go to save your clip, you'll get an error message that there isn't any
room left on your Hard Drive. Don't *even* begin to try and save this
clip to the Hard Drive - use a large networked drive or your CD-R/RW to
save it. Once that error message shows, some kind of erroneous flag is
set that warns that you have a physical problem with your hard drive
when you eventually reboot your system. This is a bogus message, but
unfortunately Scan Disk will want to run and do a complete surface scan
only to tell you that everything's fine. Surface scans can take a long
time, but you can get around them by running scan disk from the System
Tools menu in Windows and clicking "ignore this" and continue. It will
finally show the status for adrive without errors. You then need to run
Scan Disk one more time to clear the flag for some reason. Again, this
is only what you need to do if you ignore my above warning.

The other method I've found that works is to set the Recorder
performance to say, 8,000Hz, 8Bit Mono. Record a 10 second clip and then
use the decrease speed function to enlarge the available clip length. On
my system I can't go much over 2000 seconds ~33 min) when I perform the
next step which is to increase the Recorder performance to CD Quality
(44,100, 16b, Stereo) by going to Properties and Convert Now. Sound
Recorder will now convert this clip to CD Quality. Since the resulting
file size is now much larger (~300megs) than many people's available RAM,
Sound Recorder will now use virtual memory (your HD) to allow for the
increased clip's size. The same caveat applies when saving your resulting
recording: DO NOT save to the HD! Use a networked drive or your CD-R/RW!
The insufficient disk space/scan disk anomaly might only be a fluke with
my particular system, but why take the chance?

When done creating/recording/saving this particular clip REBOOT THE
COMPUTER! This forces Windows to clean up your virtual memory (swap file
on the HD, whatever) and is absolutely necessary if you want to repeat
this work-around.

---> Sound Recorder is not really meant for large files, such as whole songs, as it reads the file from disk, into memory, whereas other programs generally read directly from disk, get a program like "Cooledit" or "Soundforge", they are relatively simple but very powerful programs.

Music Software - PLEASE HELP!!!

I want to load wav.,real audio, mp3, or any song onto a software program and print out sheet music...Am I wishing to hard?

Re: Music Software - PLEASE HELP!!!

: I want to load wav.,real audio, mp3, or any song onto a software program and print out sheet music...Am I wishing to hard?

---> Don't think too hard, it causes headaches, and long term brain damage... You can get transcription from Midi, but to my knowledge, any kind of audio recording format cannot be interpreted as such.

Re: Music Software - PLEASE HELP!!!

: I want to load wav.,real audio, mp3, or any song onto a software program and print out sheet music...Am I wishing to hard?

Yup. There's no way around learning the language of music if you want to transcribe it. There are programs that can do some sorts of musical analysis from audio information. But nothing like I think you're hoping for.

How the heck can I convert rmx to wav format?

I have music on my machine that is saved in rmx format from RealJukebov and need to convert it to wav format?

Re: How the heck can I convert rmx to wav format?

I have the same problem. If I find some free software or another way to convert it, I will post another message with instructions here.

Re: How the heck can I convert rmx to wav format?

It's easy, download Winamp MP3 player from www.winamp.com and got to this site to download a plugin that plays and converts Realmedia media to wav (http://wwwpop.hypermart.net/plugin/download.html). Use the Winamp's DiskWrite output plugin to create waves. Hope this will fix the crisis. Enjoy.
