if a ratio site is 1 to 4 this means you can download 4meg for every 1meg uploaded. this is assuming you can get into the site.

you should really try "napster" you will have a better chance of getting what you want.

Annoying clicks

conversion .raw to .wav? TS404beta1

i'm using a program called TS404beta1 by R. Hoffman. it's an excellent little synth pattern generator, but it streams to disk in .raw format and i've had no success converting that into something (eg wav or aiff) which can be read by any editor or studio (i'm using cubase). any suggestions, private or on the board would be appreciated.

I've had the same problem. I found that Soundforge can convert .raw files to .wav, although the speed is halved.

Well, Cool Pro can read RAW format; and a good example of what can read RAW files is a plain audio-CD player!

Convert from .raw to .wav with WaveBatch (or Cool Edit 2000).

SoundForge has no problems converting from .raw to .wav, just remember that TS-404 generates STEREO files (that's why the speed was halved - you tried to open them as mono).

No, raw is not a European format, it's the same as PCM WAV but without the extra information stored in a wave file.

Hi Midicians,
My problem is:
I bought a Mac IIsi, after I used Cubase on my Atari
for a while with my Akai S2000. I changed to the mac,
because of his ability to be a graphical display to
the akai, some times bigger than the two lines
installed.

NOW I don´t get any Cubase that runs on this older
Mac (68030 CPU). Even Steinberg couldn´t help me out.
So, please look in your shelves, cupboards or where
ever (friends?), if there isn´t an old version,
that´s perhaps the right one for me. ;)
(Or give me a hint where to find)

I live in Germany, but i will of course pay the
shipping costs and up to 100 $ for the programm itself.

Hi , I really get confused about the mp3 and how we can convert it to normal cd track that can be played by normal cd player in my car, if some one knows how to convert that I would be more than thankfull for him/her , also if I convert this mp3 to wav files would it be able to be played on normal cd,thanks .

you can use a little program called mediabox to convert your mp3 into wave to play them on your cd player at home or car.changing it to wave will burn it as a .cda file.like a normal music cd.email me if you need help

just get yourself a program like mp3 decoder.

then decode the mp3 files to pcm wav format and burn them to disk.
or, depending on what cd burning software you use, you can drop your mp3 files directly into an audio session and burn them to cd.

i use winoncd. I think nero burns straight from mp3 too

beginner's question:

I have a lot of old records I would like to sample from
and use to make electronic music (house mostly). Can
anyone recommend a good program for sampling and
sequencing. I have a 350mHz pentium with 64 ram. I have
used cubase once, but am not familiar with other progs.

I written a new synthesizer and I want to spread it as a Freeware.
Please tell me where and how can I upload.
My program has many features:friendly user interface,32 voices (with user controlable sine/non-sine harmonics(64 harmonics max)/phases/frequency/envelope/termollo/FM or Morphing/freehand shape drawing),flange/chorus/it is very fast/can save as 16 bit/64 Khz Wav/anti aliasing algorithm/instruments made by it sounds like from proffesional keyboards....and many more.
I work on it more than one years and 8 months.

Internet musician collaboration

I know there's Res Rocket stuff. Is there any website
where someone might lay a bass track down (in Cakewalk format, wav's, or
some common format), then someone could download it
and add a guitar part, etc? There could be like a
chat room to talk it out. Is there any live collaboration
besides Res Rocket ( I use Cakewalk)?

Need some help

My friend has bought the cakewalk 9 and we can't figure out how to cut and paste a section of song,or delete a few bars. {the help section has been no help]
Everytime we try and highlite of copy the yellow track we loose or delete the whole thing.

Any suggestions ?

Why not set one up yourself? I'm sure there would be enough interested musicians (myself included) who would participate. You could easily set up a webpage to download the parts from, and take submissions in the form of .wav files

Only if you want to copy the AUDIO-files: take a PC-Formatet disk (zip) and save the AIF file to it. Take The file into your PC and open teh file - than you can convert the AIF to WAV with many toolz. SONG FILES: I suppose there is no way. Take out the MIDI-Events to disk and the AUDIO FILES and put them togeter again in the PC. A lot of work, but it will work!!! AND SEND A E-MAIL TO STEINBERG :-) The fucking Plattform problems must stop, and a copy to mr bill gates ! Regards Ventje

I am in college and for a class we have to create a piece of music. I want to mix a song using movie clips overtop of either an mp3 or groove track. I am new to the mixing software scene, so if anyone can point out a good shareware mix program, please e-mail me. I have already tried audiofusion, which is great, but I don't want to loop all of the sounds.
Any help is appreciated.

I know you can invert one channel and combine that with the other and that will cancel out the common signal(Vocals), but I my self would love to be able to retreive the common signal(vocals,drums). It seems to me it could be done with some sort of simple digital/mathmatical function, wish I knew how.

Things haven't changed yet neither will they in the near future because what you want simply can't be done.
If you really really need vocals there's a way to obtain them:
Get hold of a karaoke CD with the song you want and run it through AnalogX Vocal Remover Plugin (freeware!)
Since on most Karaoke CD's the vocals plus music are on the Right track and the music w/o vocals is on the Left,
you can filter out the music, leaving only the vocals..
