Re: HOW TO MATCH BEATS TO SONG ?
: HELLO ALL
: CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF IT IS POSSIBLE TO DO THE FOLLOWING.
: I WOULD LIKE TO ADD EXTRA BEATS AND MUSIC TO A SONG, THE PROBLEM IS THAT I WANT TO ADD THEM SO THAT THEY GO ALONG WITH THE BEATS THAT ARE CURRENTLY IN THE SONG ALREADY, IE, PLAY AT THE SAME TIME AS THE CURRENT BEATS.
: IS THERE ANY SOFTWARE THAT WILL ENABLE ME TO DO THIS. AND ALSO, WHAT ARE BEAT CALCULATORS FOR ? WHY WOULD I WANT TO USE ONE ? DO THEY HAVE ANY ADVANTAGES ?
: THANX
: NEWDJ
Hi!
Try ReCycle - software designed to match tempo of the loop with whatever you want.

Hello Mike,

How do you record from a tape deck to your pc??
I have a tape deck connected up to my pc and I need to know how or
with what program to record to my pc what's on those tapes.
When I say tape deck I mean cassette tapes, not vcr.

The easiest program to use would have to be <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Cool_Edit_2k/">Cool Edit 2000</a>
If you find the tapes are a bit noisey, tape hiss and things like that, then you can clean the sound up a bit with some of the software <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/cgi/htdig/htsearch.cgi?method=and&format=builtin-long&config=htdig&restrict=%2Fsmm%2Fprograms%2F&exclude=&words=tape+noise">here</a>
real time mp3 recorder for computer
anyone know a program that will record in real time MP3 format... I wanna record a good mix on new years... Please email the response if possible...
Re: real time mp3 recorder for computer
For those that are interested in LIVE MP3 recording software you should try the following link.
http://members.nbci.com/kuenzel/MPEGTapeDeck/index.htm
The software requires that you have the XING audio encoder .DLL installed on your computer. But MPEG TapeDeck is an excellent FREEWARE app.
I have used it to convert my massive tape collection over to high-quality MP3 without a glitch. It also records to .WAV in the same process.
Re: real time mp3 recorder for computer
: anyone know a program that will record in real time MP3 format... I wanna record a good mix on new years... Please email the response if possible...
I don't think you'll find any software that will work in real time - MP3 takes a lot of processor power to encode (but not much to decode) so you will have to record as a WAV file and then later encode it to MP3
Re: real time mp3 recorder for computer
: : anyone know a program that will record in real time MP3 format... I wanna record a good mix on new years... Please email the response if possible...
: You can do it with the use of WinVCR by Cinax.
Don't worry about recording any video (ie. select composite input (no picture) and through your play controls select which audio input you want it to record from.
You will not be recording in MP3 but in MPEG instead so play back through media player etc.
Files will definately take up much less space than a WAVE file if you remember to give WinVCR none or very little video to chew on.

Try Audiocatalist from Xing , it's very fast and will convert from cd into mp3.
It takes a little longer then the normal ripping but it works.
I have version 2.1 and it works great.

Competition fairness - NONE
Think about how people are going to win this contest for theme/composition: The only thing winning is based on is the amount of people they can convince to vote for them and that has nothing to do with being a skilled musician. Many of the theme entries sound like randomly clipped 30-second pieces from some song, some even just fade in, repeat a loop for that 30 seconds, and fade out. If one of these songs that lacks the "theme" - qualities wins, I will personally beat someone over the head, and it's most likely going to be my little brother. (but then again, you never heard that :-)
Why aren't there judges for this competition? One should be able to vote for songs, and the votes should matter a little bit, but two things should be changed in order to make the competition more fair to skilled musicians: 1) Get judges, not people to decide what's going to win. Most of the votes that songs get will probably be from the artist themselves, their friends that vote over and over again, and the little bit will come from actual people listening and saying "Hey! This i good...I'll vote for it!" Most people that like a song will not come back and vote more than once, so the multiple votes that can be cast for a song by one person should be gotten rid of.
I want this competition to be solely based on skill level of the music, not the number of friends the artist has.
Thanks for the time - had to rant a little :-)

Hi!
I agree with you! (I voted for you because it's a good theme).
Re: Competition fairness - NONE
To Sauli and Lenny,
There are judges in this competition - in fact they're the very same judges who determine whether or not any artist is popular - THE PUBLIC!
If you want "Art" (whatever that is) then you can have a small group of so called experts to judge, But if you want to know what is Good in the eyes of the public then the only judges that matter are the public - otherwise known as the Audience.
The bottom line is that if you want to succeed you can't ignore the Audience and you have to get as many members of the public to join your Audience as possible - this seems to me to be exactly what this competition does.
I vote for democracy!

Democracy seems to work if the number of people is limited. The activity in this case requires so much work from the individual to make the competition voting fair (listening to all entries, then picking the best one to vote for, or something along those lines...again, you could vote more than once, but again, you'd have to listen to all songs and vote for all of them that you think are good, etc) - this is why countries, such as the US have senators and congressmen to convey the people's opinion to the electoral system. The people themselves don't actually vote for the president, but rather they vote how the electoral votes should be cast. If 49%% of the state wants candidate A, but 51% of the state wants candidate B, all of the elctoral votes of the state go to candidate B, and in the case of, say, California, that's over 50 votes from only state alone. The total number of electoral votes a candidate needs in 270. (total is 438, and 270 is 1 more than half, which is the definition of 'majority' in the electoral process) Okay, enough rambling, but the point I'm trying to make here is, that, the system sounds good as an idea, but being too idealistic is a problem in this case since the number of entries in this competition is far out of reach for almost anyone to.......well, it's just too much to listen to, and the pages don't get updated every second and the songs that are closer to the top get more listens, of course, and the order of songs on the site should be randomized to prevent the favoring the ordered list creates.

Re: Trouble Running Cubase VST/24 Demo
I can see a patern here, rveryone who's got the error seems to be using a pc that is based on NT technology. i.e. XP, 2k
