Re: Gigasampler DLL file
: I've got the same problem with EWCTL32.DLL ...GS worked fine until I had a HD crash and installed a different version of Windows 98, and now GS won't work, so I'm guessing that it's the MS file that's funky. Didn't see any replies to the previous post with suggestions of where to download this DLL, but maybe someone emailed the guy directly??? Anyway, if anyone can help, please do. Thanks, Will

You can use <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Cool_Edit_Win32/">Cool Edit</a> to mix the two audio files together - use the "Paste Mix" function - then save as a .WAV file - all CD Burners can use a .WAV file to burn the CD.
(you can get software for this from <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/cat/CD_BURNERS/">CD BURNERS</a>)
BPM Studio and SB Live!
I am experiencing bad sound quality when I use BPM Studio with my Soundblaster Live. It sounds great from Winamp but BPM Studio sounds terrible.
Has anyone else had this problem and/or know how to correct it?

Did you tried to play with different settings of SBlive Surround Mixer? I bet that's the problem.
Convert RM to AVI or MPG
I know this isn't quite music related but I have some music videos in RM (Real Media) format that I want to convert to AVI or MPG so I can basically make VCDs out of them. Is there a program that will do this and what it is.
Here it is.
http://www.c-point.com/mediaed.htm
Here Is an actual .RM to .AVI converter... ;-)
Convert your .rm clips to .avi. Includes full batch processing support and right-click integration with the Windows Explorer (right click a RM and choose "convert to AVI")
Check it out - it's free!

Re: Convert RM to AVI or MPG
Theres no way to convert RM to AVI, not so far at least, and i've been lookin for a while and none have ever showed up. But like mentioned previously you can capture files, i use hypercam, since u wanted to record the sound files as well though, u can use hypercam. It will record the sound as well as the video. If u have only a sound file then just have the bloody thing record nething on ur desktop. Then u can save it as an MPEG, and use software like Adobe Premiere, or nething easier if u can think of it. Premiere will let you import the avi sound file and then export it as just a soundfile and junk i believe. For more info just go to...... www.AnimeTools.cjb.net
Re: Convert RM to AVI or MPG
Get SnagIT! and do audi/video capture of the window in which the ram/rm content is playing-it captures in any compressor that your system uses (in avi), from there you can make what ever format you want out of it...the snagit drivers promote a loseless capture...so the already rm file wont get worse...the problem for you vcd freaks will be, first you will be compressing the rm to avi then again to mpg...so its gonna look like crap. anyway, good luck
THE MAN
Re: Convert RM to AVI or MPG
SNAG IT cannot capture audio. It can give you only the video. And the file size of the captured file is quiet huge. U need to compress it again. But SNAG-IT is not a bad option. In fact i would recommened it
Re: Convert RM to AVI or MPG
I want a converter that converts .ram/.rm files to avi. so i can burn .avi files into vcd and view it on dvd!

yeah, If you want to play those files on a DVD player as a VCD, then you can convert it to VCd using a AVI to VCD converter at this site. only for windows. http://www.mnsi.net/~jschlic1/

TMPGENC is the best most elegant solution I've seen for AVI->MPEG/MPEG2 - I'm not sure if their domain is up or not yet; http://www.tmpgenc.com I believe. In any case, you can find it anywhere using any search engine, just search for TMPGENC or link fro www.vcdhelp.com

Scanning music sheets
Did anyone ever scan music sheets? Is a special scanner neeede? Will any Music notation software accept the scanned information?
Re: Scanning music sheets
: Did anyone ever scan music sheets? Is a special scanner neeede? Will any Music notation software accept the scanned information?
You can use a regular scanner and save the results as a .bmp file and then download <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/SharpEye/">SharpEye Music OCR for Windows 95/98/NT</a> which will convert your scans into MIDI files and let you edit them out the notation.

Reading the information on "Sharp Eye Music Reader", it seems that I would have a problem because all of the music that I have to transcribe is manuscript! Right??? Any other suggestion?

No - you're not going to find any software that can reliably scan sheet music which was written by hand.
FireWire Woooooh!
LaCie are bringing out a 7,400 rpm drive with FireWire connections (allegedly) This should at least match what UW SCSI can do. Anyone tested it yet? Anyone plan to?

Go to <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/cat/SOFTWARE_SAMPLERS/">SOFTWARE SAMPLERS</a> on this site - you might want to look at the Windows 3.1 or DOS programs to run on an old machine - then you can make songs with triangle samples!!!
Or try MOD TRACKERS & PLAYERS instead
Come to think of it you would probably be better off with a Tracker - go to <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/cat/MOD_TRACKERS_PLAYERS/">MOD TRACKERS & PLAYERS</a> - there are actually more DOS trackers than windows.
