I need a plug-in for Midi!

Hi,
Is it possible to use plug-in (DirectX for Sound Forge, Cubase etc.) on Midi Channel, so i can change the parameters of midi stream in real time as wav file.
I want to use, for example reverb, compressor, limiter, equalizer, chorus and other DirectX plug-ins in my sequencer in real-time (without converting the Midi to Wav). If it is possible, where can i find the software on the net?

strip the vocals off of a wav file. I just want the
music, not the vocals. Any tips on how to do this would be much

Dear folks,

My name is Vikram and I am very new to all of this
sound recording stuff. However, by thursday I have to
somehow compress wav files that are currently on my
hard drive and email them to a company in san jose, CA.
I've heard about this compressing scheme called MP3.
How do I make an MP3 from my wave file and where can I
get the software. If it is only available on the net,
is there a zipped version so that I can quickly download
it?

Also, is there any other easy way to compress these
files so that I can hurriedly send them?

Please reply as soon as possible to my email if you

Please get the program "Mp3 compressor", which should be avalible somewhere out there on the net (try www.evreka.com and type "mp3 compressor +download" or something). The program is easy and will convert any wav. file to 8/16-bit mono/stereo or whatever.
A "normal" lenght song (3-4 minutes) takes about 2-4 meg. depending on what quaity you want.

How do I create asf out of wavs???

You need an encoder which is available on
Microsoft's site.

Gina VS. E-MU studio .... Which ones Better??

The E-Mu Audio Production Studio is way better than Gina. You can record four analog inputs and two stereo digital inputs onto eight different track of Cubase(but not Cakewalk) at the same time with E-mu's new 1.5 software. Gina only has two analog inputs. Also, E-mu the Em-mu software has effects and EQ which you can apply in real time, and you can create and playback samples(soundfonts) with it.

It actually totally depends on what you want to do with the card. The EMU creation studio is as I see it though not a very good alternative. It very much lookes like the (almoust to much...) SB Live! card, which is a bit cheaper.
To confuse you even mure, please also check out the Sound Track 16/ CH card on www.hoontech.com
It outrun bouth the Gina and the EMU if you ask me...

Hello!

I'm desperately searching for a program to make music with. I'd prefer a tracker like OctaMED or Fasttracker, but with the difference that there are many options for effects and stuff (e.g. a reverb on just one channel). Furthermore it has to be professional and must be ran under Windows.
Who knows the name od a program that comes to close to what I described above?

I bought MusicTime Deluxe by GVOX, at Christmas...I write by ear and have about 20 tunes funished. It's cheap...$65 and you don;t need a keyboard to enter notation (point-and-click). anyone know where i can get a decent realtime midi synthesiser (not a multitracker) with some NICE sounds ? i've got the generator synth but that's kinda a bit too electronic if you know what i mean. i'm looking for something a little bit more organic. in particular i am looking for a decent fender rhodes emulation, cos the instrument itself is way out of my financial reach.
any help appreciated.

MacAMP download expandion problem

MacAMP 1.0b7r2 ƒ.sit.hqx downloads and expands as a Stuffit document titled MacAMP 1.0b7r2 ƒ.sit, but it doesn't expand as the application program. I'm using Stuffit 4.5. What am I not doing right? Thanks.

Hi!

A soundfont is a bunch of samples carrying also
the information, how they shall be played, with
vibrato or an oktave lower or what else. You can
extract the samples via ´awave´, which is freeware.

If you want a software harmonizer, look also for a
´pitchshifter´, ´cause that´s the same. You perhaps
even get a program that does it in realtime via
dirextX. But be aware, the more programs you try,
the earlier your computer will get sick and ask
for a complete clean-up. Holadrio!

Printing staved music from MIDI files

I'm after a small, cheap (freeware?) package which merely takes a MIDI file and splits it into its component tracks, prints it onscreen as a graphic and allows me to print it out. It doesn't have to be pretty...

In other words, is there a cheap app which I can download which will let me easily and cheaply make sheet music from MIDI files?

Ultimately I want it small so I can run it from the .exe file itself and not have to worry about installing any components. I don't have a printer at home and can't install new software at work (where there is a printer I have occasional access to) hence the request :o)

Soundblaster PCI64 & DOS Games

Hmm, I seem to have a problem with my DOS games (well actually just one game heh) and my soundcard.

When I set the game up correctly to the IRQ 5 (as it says in the Legacy Driver) the game crashes and Windows gives this error: [064B:003C]
If I set it to another IRQ, say, 7. Then the sounds dont abort and once a sound starts it doesnt end, presumable cause the IRQ is not correct.

So what can I do?

I tried running from DOS, but I get a STACK overflow, and I tried increasing my STACKS. Help ;)
Maybe there is some sort of Emulator I can find?

Converting Old Professional Composer Files

How can I convert old Professional Composer files? I have a number of old Professional Composer (notation) files I would like to open them either as a MIDI sequencer program or a notation program such as FINALE. These files were created before Mark of the Unicorn was using a standard MIDI format for Professional Performer, the sequencer program that worked with Professional Performer. The Professional Performer and Professional Composer software is old enough that it can't be opened on the current generation of Mac computers. Does anyone have an idea? Any ideas welcome.

I still use MOTU's Professional Composer on my Mac Plus running OS 6. Here's the setup I use for music notation:

1. Enter music with a MIDI keyboard into DMCS 2.5 (Deluxe Music Construction Set, also obsolete)
2. Use EZ Vision (the precursor to Opcode's MusicShop) to translate the DMCS file into a Professional Composer file and a MIDI file
3. Use Professional Composer to type in the lyrics
4. Sent the MIDI file to my iMac to translate it into an MP3 file (using VocalWriter from KaeLabs)

I would stop using Professional Composer if I found another notation program that made a measure with a whole note 1/4 as wide as a measure with 4 quarter notes. Other notation programs seem to insist on having the same number of measures in every line.

Another possible way to convert old Professional Composer files: try downloading MOTU's Mosaic (there's a demo version on their website); I think it may open Professional Composer files.

I was able to use Performer (MOTU's sequencing software) to open Prof Composer files, convert them there to Standard MIDI files, and then open them in Encore. This wsas done on a Mac.

I suggest Sound Forge (PC) or Peak (Mac). You can play around with EQ or knock the song out of faze to try and get rid of vocals.
