I search the new version's Cubase (4) for mac.

ReBirth338 + Cubase + GUS

Is there anyone who can help me in this two very simple question about them together:
- is there any way to use more than one mix-track in cubase to control ReBirth within (i use HUBI's MLB for connect them because of my second question)?
- is there any way to make my GUS handle the ReWire-thing in Cubase or my only way is HUBI for that?

high pitched whine

I can't get rid of a very irritating high pitched whine when using Cakewalk Professional 7.
It's not real loud, but it's enough to be disturbing. It's present when recording from a mic
and midi. sounds like it could be the computer, almost as if you can hear the hard drive whirring.
Any thoughts or similiar problems? Haven't seen much info on getting a clean, noise free signal into
Cakewalk. Any advice would be appreciated!

First try going to CNET.com and go to free downloads then click on rippers and encoders, the next screen that comes up should have a link for CDnGO 1.81 try that. Let me know how it goes

I run a Korg wavetable daughter board on your standard
common garden Yamaha based soundcard, but I would also
like to run a Goldstar synth card which uses the
MPU-401 driver. My experience to date is that they
conflict!! The Korg card dominates and the Goldstar
seems to lose it's ability to turn off notes ending up
with a cacophony of noise when playing files. The only
theories I have as to why this happens is that 1) both
cards use the 330 address with no hardware jumpers to
change this or 2)the MPU-401 driver I am using (Original
Win95)just doesn't have what it takes??!! Another
question is -is it possible to shut down sound card
midi sounds on my sequencer (Power Tracks Pro) on a
track by track basis but still output mididata to an
external sound module?

Hey Allen, I can't speak for Mac but I assume that Stienberg offers WAVELAB for macs aswell. But this program does an excellent job of time stretching. I'm not sure about the shareware detail but it's not too expensive 200$ or something.

Yes, It´s a cheap card. You don´t get full duplex (listning and recording at the same time) whith 16 bits, only 16 + 8 bits audio. 8 bits audio sounds BAD ! If you want a cheap but working soundcard try Soundblaster 64 PCI it´s actually the Ensoniq Audio PCI card that Creative now produce.

Having spent a day on this problem I think I have the half solution. Basically the SB64 can only play at 8 bits while recording at 16. When you turn off the recording it will again play in 16 bits making the quality that much better. Cubase is set up to record all the time so the only way to turn off recording is to go to the Input box and turn off the Input. When you need to record just turn it on again. Be assured that cubase always records in 16 bit.

I expect you have clicked the "enable"-button in the arrange window and adjusted the input level in the audio-mixer?Have you tried: AUDIO>PROCESSING>NORMALIZE?...It has helped me a couple of times to get enough level on a file.

Bad sound quality!? Awe64 + Cubase 3.6
When I play wav. files (especially when I put a filter on it) I get lots of static and hissing in the background. I have an Awe 64 sound card. Is there some modification I must make with it or is it just a cheap card?

Yes, It´s a cheap card. You don´t get full duplex (listning and recording at the same time) whith 16 bits, only 16 + 8 bits audio. 8 bits audio sounds BAD ! If you want a cheap but working soundcard try Soundblaster 64 PCI it´s actually the Ensoniq Audio PCI card that Creative now produce.

Having spent a day on this problem I think I have the half solution. Basically the SB64 can only play at 8 bits while recording at 16. When you turn off the recording it will again play in 16 bits making the quality that much better. Cubase is set up to record all the time so the only way to turn off recording is to go to the Input box and turn off the Input. When you need to record just turn it on again. Be assured that cubase always records in 16 bit.

Cubase 3.6 (P.C.) won't play WAV. files
Any midi file that I import plays perfectly but when I try to import a WAV. file it shows up but no sound is heard. Can anyone help?

I expect you have clicked the "enable"-button in the arrange window and adjusted the input level in the audio-mixer?Have you tried: AUDIO>PROCESSING>NORMALIZE?...It has helped me a couple of times to get enough level on a file.

hi my name is Joannie, you would probablty believe this, i have tried burning CD'S for about a year and never made one cause i didn't unstand i had to have a mp3' converted into CDA. Boy what a nut hahah. well i'm disablted and i would like to make some cd's. thank you for offering the converter. I sure would like one if your still offering thank Joannie
