I don't like your chances - that was a long time ago!
BTW - I used Cubase 1.0 on a 1040 ST, that was by
far the best sequencer/computer package in the
80's IMHO.

does Acid pro 3.0 support .svq files?
if not, what does? and if it did, would it let you edit the file with the program?
notation from cds
Does software exist to convert CD music into notation, I like to jam to Cds and it would be very helpful to be able to have a program to convert the song to notation for more accurate playing.
Any info much appreciated

i think the only software that can do this is in the human brain...
but there is a program called 'decomposer' but its not what you expect...
How to Capture Streaming Audio
I need some help trying to figure out how to capture and save .rm files that are streamed from a website. I click on the link and it automatically opens another Internet Explorer window and shows Real Audio playing the clip. I have searched my entire hard disk for the file and cannot seem to figure out where it is being saved (if it is being saved at all.)
Anyone know how to save the file so I do not have to stream it everytime I want to listen to it?
Thanks!
Re: How to Capture Streaming Audio
1. the file is stored in your temporary IE folder..with other name, ending...and sometimes its hidden
2.the link you click that opens real player contains the exact name and location of the .rm file. open the link with a texteditor.copy location of the .rm file. this you have to paste in a html file and then open in IE and click save Target as...
there you go
3. Or you use totalrecorder and record it directly to .mp3
4. Or you try to find the answer in this forum.... hehhe

Re: Question about Mpeg Audio files
I don't know of a program, but I'm sure if you go to http://download.cnet.com and in the search box type in something like 'mpeg mp3' or 'mpeg wav' you should come up with a program to download that can do that with.

I have always used normalize functions or editor in .wav file format, yet here is a program, that will address some editing in mp3 file format. – Since it is free, have a look, and experiment with your MP3 files.
Yes it may be a tease program - but it does have some functions that might be very useful to a DJ using MP3 files in the free version.

help set my imac up for music
i am new to the music game . i would just like to understand my equipment more..... and in plain common sense english. i have an imacG3 450mhz, i have a midi man 1 x 1 usb hub and a midismart midi keyboard controller. i also have a micrologic software, all tuned ready to roll . all my ports are open but it keeps asking me for my printer and modem port which i don't have, then it tells me it knows i haven't got them but doesn't really offer any suggestions. what's going on ? basically i don't have any sound coming out
A) understand the goal. B) start from the source C) study while
Could you be more specific? What do you mean when you say "all
my ports are open". "Open ports" usually means active for data reading
or writing. Is this what you mean, or do you mean that they are NOT in use,
or perhaps that they are not connected physically to anything?
Can you be more specific about what the error messages are, and
where they come from? Finder errors? Micrologic errors?
Could you tell us which parts do work? I will do my best to be
helpful.

INCA88 - "IRQ Conflict !"
Hi,
Just got the INCA88 8 in/out card + breakout box. Installed the card and attached the box, Windows detected and installed drivers. Great.
However, it ain't working! :( I put it on my 98 PC (for now), and have much more than the minimum system requirements. In the Window title bar of the "Control desk" for the hardware, instead of the name (ie "INCA88 control desk..."), it says "IRQ Conflict !"!!! Had a SoundBlaster in it and it said that, took it out, said that, changed slots, said the same thing. :(
The software I will be using with it will be Logic, Rebirth, Fruity Loops and Reason, so if you have any notable experiences with the hardware and that software, then please also tell me about it if you have time.
Feel free to e-mail me if you prefer.
Many thanks,
Rachel
I/O, DMA, & IRQ
You should check your computer's BIOS settings for
IRQ, PNP (Plug N Play), and other related settings.
Sometimes the BIOS settings override or modify the
software settings.
Likewise, you should check your system software settings
for IRQ, PNP, and the order of device loading and such.
A potential error could occur, where part of the system expects
automatic IRQ assignments via PNP, but another part of the system
doesn't expect PNP. Plug N Play means automatic configuration.
Another similar issue arises when the software and/or hardware
expects a particular IRQ to be free, but the BIOS settings are
manually overriding it, and totally preventing any automatic
configuration at all. Under normal circumstances, at least
IRQ's can change automatically if needed. Check this feature's
current settings.
A nice trip to the book store or library should turn
up some useful books about IRQ conflict resolving. You
don't have to buy the books, but it could be worth at
least reading from them while you're in the store.
The thing to keep in mind about IRQ conflicts is that
some IRQ's cant' be safely changed, so you should read to
find out which ones (I forget). Also, every time you turn on or restart
the system, IRQ's can potentially change. For sure, every time you
add or remove a device, IRQ's will probably change. The big exception is
USB devices. USB services uses IRQ commands, but linked USB devices share
the IRQ so that you don't lose more IRQs by adding more USB devices.
I wish I could help you more.
Pay close attention to your startup screen, and
write down what you see, if possible. sometimes you can
resolve IRQ conflicts by figuring out which devices
have which manufacturer's code, and in which order they
load up. That way, it won't be so hard to know which
devices are fighting over IRQ's.
INCA88 - now no input / output
Wow - thanks a lot for that :). So, the conflict is gone, however, there is yet another problem :(
Now there is no sound coming in or out!!! I think this one's for someone using XP (yes, changed that too yesterday) and the same card. The multimedia settings in the manual aren't the same as what's in XP (and yes, I've downloaded the supposed XP driver and installed it, but it didn't seem right).
Please help me! Getting frustrated. :|
Many thanks,
Rachel
Re: INCA88 - now no input / output
Ooops I did that wrong, I have been having the same experience as you and have changed os from XP to ME back to W98 and finally to w2k. I had to disable Plug and Play by doing the following.
control panel-hardware-devicemanager-computer-(acpi)pc-action update driver-choose standard pc
That got rid of my conflicts and got the sound card working. I still can't play a music cd thru the machine tho and i have not tried to reload Cubasis as yet so still not out of the woods (sigh) Hope this helps Mikey
Re: INCA88 - "IRQ Conflict !"
By the way, I did try it out with Logic and my computer crashed. I also tried playing an mp3, putting into mixer (and then obviously out to speakers) and it didn't work either. So it isn't just the control desk that's telling me that something is wrong - unfortunately.
Ok, look forward to getting your feedback.

Cataloging LPs
I have searched about 25 sites for software which is the easiest and informative for cataloging my huge LP collection. Can anyone suggest which sites they have used and why they chose that site?
Construct a database - then the information would be available f
Stacey,
I have not seen a stand-alone program for non-computer installed music (LP). You might use a data base program and construct a simple keyword database. Microsoft Works would be able to handle this quite easily. I if I do find a program I will be certain to let you know.
Not trying to reinvent the wheel, you might do a web search for a database template, for the database program you have installed on your computer. I just presumed you were using windows, sorry.

If you are a musician, don't buy an Audigy card!
Simply it can't record audio. I've been surfing forum by forum and everyone has the same problem!
I've tried in Logic Plat., Cubasis, Cubase VST 24 and 32, Sonar.
I've reinstalled Windows ME twice.
It's impossible, the famous ASIO drivers are a @!#$.
Do you think that this is a joke or is this false?
Try to record with a micro in the front panel or in the back of the card in Cubasis for example.
Or try to record the simply MIDI click. You'll get surprised. Don't works!
I've tried the Kx drivers and are fine, but are not perfect.
Audigy Plat. is a very very expensive card.
Don't buy it, it's full of bugs, try Terratec or similar, It's only usefull for playing Quake or listen DVD's.
I've bought it last week and I'm trying to shell it. What a pity for my/our money.
A moment of silence
I'm sorry you've had this terrible experience. I believe you.
I have had a few bad experiences like this too, with other
kinds of gear. Sometimes I think that factory creation of these
kinds of things isn't properly done. Maybe it was put together
wrong. I don't think I've ever bought a piece of gear that I didn't
find a way to fix or enhance... except for the utter crap stuff that
was better left to be sold or thrown away.
Size of Sibelius 2
I am considering buying Sibelius 2, but I was wondering if anyone that has a copy could tell me how many mb's are on the disk? I was just wondering if it was one of those 25mb programs or if it was a larger content rich program. I hate buying software for hundereds of dollars to find out that it is small and lacking in content. Thanks.
