rm is a link to an audio stream. Although sometimes these are streams created on the spot from a file on the server you cannot download it.

Easy cd creator 4 will be your best bet.I had the same problem with the spressa.I had to remove it from the case and install it in my pc as an internal unit.Cd Creator 4 automatically converts the files to cda,and it works fine with the spressa.

I get the same error. Nero will not let you do
DAO recording of audio from CDA without forcing
you to use an image file on the HD. SO it is no
possible to do DAO from audio CD's "on the fly".

IN ANY CASE - this is just a matter of Nero
ripping from CDA to a file on the HD. This should
be a NO-BRAINER!! (especially if the HD has lots
of room (3 gig in my case)).

So what gives - why can't nero make an image file??

1.Unplug your computer speakers and plug into the line in, in your M.D. so that your M.D.can 'hear' the music.
2. Get an R.C.A. double adaptor plug and send one end to your speakers and the other to your M.D.- you will be able to hear the sounds through uour speakers and your M.D. will 'hear' also.

Keep the other end in your computers Line Out of your sound/midi card of course.

I have done all my backing up and song mastering to CD with my computer and not with the Roland CD writer (too expensive!!). The way I have done this is as follows: Buy a small scsi hard drive (internal is ok) 1 gig or so is good, I actually managed with 270 MB which should cost next to nothing these days. Connect power to the drive and hook it up to the VS880. Copy the song(s) across to the drive the way you normally would to a zip or jazz drive (must be in "song" mode).

After changing your registry as explained on the webpage above you can now turn everything off and hook this drive up to your scsi chain on your PC (you need a scsi adapter of course), and copy all the songdata across to your C drive orwhatever. From then on you can back it up to whatever medium you want but CD is cheapest.
Now you can erase the song from your VS, but when you do this the first time it may be worth testing out somehow if it worked for you, ie back up your song on a zip first, then do the whole process above, erase the song from the 880, load it back in by reversing the above process and make sure the VS880 plays it back ok. One VERY important thing is: When you load the songdata back from your CD onto your scsi drive you have to select all files, rightclick and uncheck "read-only" and check "archive". If you dont do this the VS880 cannot see the files.

Tip:before you start to rec.guitar tracks always reset devices in the OPTIONS menu then start to rec. after a few takes reset devices again.always remember to reset after 4-5 takes. more info .

Hi Jimmy,

This sounds like some kind of hardware conflict or even a driver conflict. One thing you might want to try is turning off the hardware acceleration for your video card. That might do the trick. If not, you'll probably have to drop a note to the Tech people at Steinberg.

This depends entirely on what the type of music is, whether you can play keyboard or not and also whether you have up to date software such as Sibelius, Encore or Finale.
You can plug a keyboard through the joystick plug on a PC (no idea for a Mac) using a MIDI cable. open up whatever software you have, and play the keyboard through it. It will score it for you.
OR
you could write it by hand and have it played back.
