I'm using SVPro by Opcode and Galaxy librarian(ver2.1).
In the Galaxy setup there is no NanoBass instrument
class. How can I get the sound patch list from the

Harmonizer
Is there a software that will allow me to:
1. Play in a melody from my MIDI keyboard
2. Software will harmonize this melody
3. Allow me to save it as a .MID file to export to other programs such as Finale, etc.
4. Choose the style harmony supplied, i.e. traditional, Bach style, modern, etc.
5. Name and source of such a program

Depending on the quality you would like to achieve, you have many options. The two that come directly to mind are Audio Active Production Studio ( http://www.audioactive.com ) and Shuffler Music Converter ( http://www.illustrate.org ). The first provides _very_ good quality mp3s, but is _very_ expensive. The second is free and is about 75% of the quality of Production Studio.

Best Beginner software with XP-60
I have an iMac DV, USB Midisport 2x2, and a XP-60, yet I have been unsuccessful with any demo software that I have tried (ex. SoundDiver demo) What is the best beginner software to get me started on being an "electronic musician?" I can play the keyboard better than average in live situations. Want to expand my horizons. Thanks, Bill
Broaden those horizons...
Hello,
If you live in england nip very quickly down to your local WHSmiths and grab, before they go, a copy of 'Computer Music' (Disk 21. June 2000) which has the complete Logic Audio 'Fun' package on the front CD. Although it has things missing compared to the top flight models, it does full audio and midi sequencing and doesn't cost anything. It's generally easy to use and will go very well with you iMac (which may suprise you on the audio side of things!...)
Cheers

integrating all aspects of the net into music
I read an interview with one of the guys in a band called The Morgans Project, and he spoke mostly about combining earthy analog ideas and the technology to produce and distribute them. They use as many loops and midi tracks as they do live instrumentation, I think. I checked out some of their tunes at http://www.mp3.com/themorgansproject, and it's hard to even tell what's what.
He had some really good ideas about implementing technology, does anyone know more about these guys?
rocket
The Morgan Project.
Sorry, I know nothing about them but thanks for the address. I just had a good listen and it was lo-fi tastic. I prefer when people get away from their computers sometimes and actually produce some music from their mouths and acoustic instruments. Makes a nice change.
Cheers

Chart/ Playlist Maker?
Hey,
I am searching for either a javascript, standalone or CGI interactive charts maker. The idea would be to have a chart of songs where people could download the mp3 or file (listen) and vote for the song with a checkbox or something and then the software updates the chart to sohw top vote getters...any suggestions? Email me if you like...
vcd to aiff
Hi there. Could you please tell me if it is possible to convert just the audio tracks from a music video VCD and transfer them as AIFF files to an ordinary audio CD. Many thanks, Darrin.

RE: Yamaha Tone Generators
Does anyone know what the perfect setup is to playback big-band arrangements? (i.e., tone module/generator, expansion boards, etc.) I want to have ALL the voices played back with as realistic quality as possible (not just a solo voice, which I guess a wind controller and Vl70m combination could do...)
Sync two computers
I am attempting to sync another computer to start a midi sequence when I start recording in ProTools Digi001. The machines are a new Mac G4 (ProTools=Mater), trying to sync a Mac LC (EZ-Vision=Slave) I have synced my LC before to other systems/programs through the MTC.
The PT ref book says I have to use a USD to accomplish this, but the 001 A/D interface has both midi in/thru.
I also have a MOTU MidiXT. It's user manual says it can send a MTC but has to be started using MMC.
HELP! ! !
Thx, MarkJ

Sample vs MIDI?
I'm trying to find the best software to lay down indusrial percussion tracks on my PC. I'm going to be sampling my own sounds 99% of the time, editing them with Soundforge, and Cool Edit Pro.
I tried the trial version of ACID and I didn't like it at all. It just seems like it's not very user friendly to someone starting from scratch. I know some people swear by it, but I just can't see myself composing rhythms for serious songs with ACID.
I also tried the demo of Fruity Loops Pro. At first I was really turned off by it because of the techno-plastic-crap-inferior sounding samples they include with the program. It's a lot easier to use than ACID though, and seems more powerful.
I haven't tried any of the MIDI sequencers yet because I need to buy a MIDI cable (I do have a keyboard that's capable of MIDI). What I really need to know is if it's even worth it to get into MIDI. How easy is it to work with your own samples in MIDI?
I don't want something that's going to be frustrating to use. The other factor is: I can't afford more than around $100, so it's going to have to be something like Cubasis, Cakewalk Home Studio, or Micrologic AV. Either that or Fruity Pro which costs about the same.
Opinions?

Re: Sample vs MIDI?
If you wanna try out for fun, try Impulse Tracker. It's a pretty used program for DOS and a really great one too!
It should be at noisemusic.org/it

Notation Software
Hi. I am new to computers. But have managed to download a midi file of a piece of piano playing.
Can you suggest any modest software which will transcribe the piece into standard notation, and allow me to print it off ?
I shall be very grateful for any help you can provide.
Geoff Coulson ( England).

Congrats on your entry to the digital age! To really be of help to you you need to be of help to others.... what instrument do you "make music" on? What sort of a computer are you working with? Are you interested in creating MIDI files (music without words) or something else?
Here's a link to a zipped version of a simple MIDI creation program..... there are MUCH better ones out there!

Re: Cassette tape to CD
: Does anyone know of any software I can use on a PC to transpose music cassettes onto cd's to play on normal hi-fi systems
Hello Allan,
Try the following:
<a href="/smm/programs/DartCDRecorder/">Dart CD-Recorder Plus</a> -
Save the music from your LP's, cassettes or CDs
<a href="/smm/programs/PolderbitS_Sound_Recorder_Editor/">PolderbitS Sound Recorder and Editor</a> -
Digitize recordings of music cassettes, LPs or videos
Plus you will need the appropriate cable connections from your stereo to the PC soundcard.
