take vcdgear, for linux you can use mpeg3toc

use virtualdub. It's free and can be found at virtualdub.com also check out virtualdub.org and virtualdub.net I've been using it for years!!! good luck!

HELP ME WITH MY SB 64 GOLD/I JUST JOINED THE DIGI WORLD

I have a Compaq Presario 5242 (400meg, 128ram, AMD K6) I just purchased an EMU creation Studio package as a HD starter thing. It has an AWE 64 Gold SB card in it. I installed the card in the ISA slot just like the manual described, installed the software bundle and disabled my stock sound card through WIN98.(add/remove hardware in tthe control panel). Since all that my computer has had problems booting up WIN98 and has crashed a few times. I also cant get the computer to enable the SB card. What am I doing wrong??? How do I disable the stock card in Bios? The stock card is on the mother board and there are no bypass jumpers as far as i can see.Is this not Going to work in my computer??? Im very new at this could anyone help me get this started...PLEASE e-mail me at robb.mantovani@gte.net if you have any info on this subject... Thanks

I´m sorry,but i have to say that,your motherboard is crap,so do yourselve a favour and by
a new one without any sound and grafic chips on it,and all your problems will be gone

I agree. But before you do anything try this:
Remove (physically) all sound cards from your computer. Remove (thru Settings/Control panel/Remove programs) all related software. Reboot computer. Run REGLEAN (free MS utility downloadble anywhere at shareware sites (f.i. CNET)to clean your registry. Make sure that computer works (with exception of the sound of course). Then shut down computer, insert SB64 and start clean installation of SB and related software. Make sure that it works. Before proceeding to installation of the soundcard with which computer arrived - think twice: official position of the Creative Labs (manufacturer of SB)is - SB series do not work properly on machines with 2 sound cards. If you need a second sound card: 1. If one of the card is ISA buy another one PCI; or 2. Make sure (thru the diagnostics) that 2 ISA cards or 2 PCI cards do not conflict with each other. I bet that what's happenning right now on your computer.
