Re: IS IT POSSIBLE TO BREAL UP A CD INTO TRACKS THAT IS ONLY ONE
: HOW DO YOU SPLIT UP A CD THATS ONE TRACK LONG? ANYONE KNOW OF ANY PROGRAMS OUT THERE?
: If you work with WinOnCD you can easily split
one big sound file into smaller pieces, so you
have every single title with a separate start point but without having any gaps.
but don't forget to set Marker on: "No pauses between tracks"

I know nothing about editing or creating tracks. I downloaded fasttracker 2 ( shareware )and a couple of mod files to get started. I find myself at the moment totally confused and only just manage to play the tracks. Don't get worried i'm not that hopeless, its just that i'm limited with time as i use the companys computer and internet connection. What i need is the very basic info and possibly the location of some sites where i get this info.
Any help would be greatly apreciated...

Try converting it to an MP3
did you use 44.1 KHz, 16 bit and stereo?
this is the best setup to burn sounds on cd.

graphical music editing
I have the program Cool edit pro in which you can take
a piece of waveform and apply a graphical envelope to
change its amplitude over time. This graphical approach
only works on certain functions though, and many of the
other changes are acheived through setting spin boxes.
Has anyone heard of any software that extends the
graphic approach of altering a waveform over time to a
large number of different functions? Perhaps sweep filters
that could be drawn, or flanges & phasers etc?
Re: graphical music editing
Haven't tried myself, but you should be able
to draw shapes in Cubase which are assigned to a
specific MIDI controller. If you can tell your
synth to react accordingly to this controller -
voilà!
Greetings,

I sure hope someone can help here!
My request aint a simple one, so please bear with me. I am looking for a music application/utility that will allow me to do the following - scan in a sheet of music, and manipulate the notes to my hearts content, like moving all the notes up one full octave etc which can then be printed out in its amended form. Does anyone know of a program that can help me do this?
Any help here is greatly appreciated
thanks

Check out this program - SharpEye Music OCR v1.09 for Windows 95/98/NT
It will convert a BMP or TIFF image of sheet music into MIDI and then let you edit it - or you can then use a different notation program to edit the MIDI file.
Tracker
This question has already probably been asked...
I'm used to using Scream Tracker on an old P.C. When I bought a new one and tried to run it with Windows, I had all kinds of problems. Is there a simaler Tracker program that works with windows 98? Or perhaps an update of ST?
I have Cake walk and hate it.
Thanks,
Colin
Re: Tracker
Hi, Colin. Sure you know differences between Trackers and Sequencers (MIDI). ScreamTracker was a very good tracker for DOS with a medium quality sound output. Now we have to change those "old" tools because of Windows 98. I was looking for a "new" sequencer running without problems in Win98 for more than three years and, finaly, i discover MadTracker 2 !! This program run under Win98, is very easy to use and let you concentrate in music and forget dificult codings. Try it!! You will work a little more for a couple of houres and then you will feel nice working with it! High quality sound, sound FX, graphic mixer, MIDI control, polyphonic recording, sintheziser parameter for WAV files, a much more! It´s worth a couple of houres of extra work! Enjoy it!

Re: Tracker
These is a MODPlug tracker which is completely 32 bit application, user friendly inerface with high quality spec. and features including equalizer, dls support, sample and instrument editor, save modules as wave and MP3 etc and good news is that it is completey free. You can find it at HITSQUAD/FREEWARE category.
Good bye

How to listen music from network CD
Hi.
Does anybody know, whether it's possible to listen music from a non-local (network) CD?
I know that there's a cdfs.vxd for Win95, that allows to read CD tracks as WAV files, but I have WinNT. Is there an analogue of such software for WinNT? That would solve my problem.
(See e.g. http://www.sonicspot.com/alternatecdfsvxd/alternatecdfsvxd.html)
Thanks, Martin.
help(dat troubles)
does anybody know if I could download sounds off of the internet onto a dat player so I can sample them in the studio? and where is some good sites for samples:
i.e. drum sounds and so on.
Re: help(dat troubles)
if I got you right: you want to download some
samples DIRECTLY onto your dat? I don't think
that's possible without special hardware, but who
would need such a thing?
to get samples visit my homepage and step to the
LINKS-site. you'll find many sample-links there.

Re: there are!
how much would a portable one cost?
how much would people be willing to pay?
What options does it need.
i was planning on building one but i didn't think too many people would buy it
Re: there are!
I think it's a problem that most people don't
know if downloading MP3s is legal or not.
other ones think MP3s do lack quality.
but you're right, I don't think that there would
be too many people who'd buy such a cd-player,
because common CDs are cheap enough.

Re: Win $10,000 in prizes in Hitsquad.com's Computer Music Compe
Hey there,
For bands who want to submit music, the cut off is Nov 31. For those who want to vote on songs, it will be Dec 31. For webmasters it will be Dec 31. For Music Software Weekly token collectors - Dec 31. This isn't a Y2K promotion as such. It just seems like a good time to announce the winners. I think we're all going to have fun with this!
:)
Cheers

MP3 to CDA Converter needed
Please help me find a software to convert MP3 or any music file to CDA format inorder for me to hear it through my CD player.
Thank you,
John
Re: MP3 to CDA Converter needed
as I know you have to convert your MP3 to WAVe
and your cd-burning software creates CDA-files.
but I think they're only infos on the WAVes and
don't contain any sample-data.
just burn your WAVe-files on a CD, finish it and
listen to the songs with your cd-player.

Re: Building a Home Studio
or even better you can use the high quality
features of cool edit pro and/or vegas.......
much better audio- many fewer headaches,
no need for an overkill computer.
you can use "massiva" for midi- its free.
Re: Building a Home Studio
download protools.
Cubase VST
The program that you need is cubase vst. VST means Virtual Studio Technology. You can get it from many sources but the best one is Steinberg.
Its the only legal one.
It depends on the power of your computer as to the results you get from cubase.
Re:CUBASIS AV
I looking for cubasis av or similar program

Sourcecode for sound-output via soundcard

Choose Tools-MIDI Device & select the one w/ MIDI OUT or MIDIPort
as a output port. Make sure you have a GM compatible instrument (make a whole lot easier for you)
Load any cakewalk demo song !
If you have further question, contact me & specify in detail the problem !
Software available for developing a written score
What software would you recommend for this task? I'd like to be able to play music from an instrument into the microphone on my computer, and then the software would create a written score of the music. Also, I'd like for that software (or another software) that can transpose music up or down the scale -- i.e., change the key, etc.
Any and all information will be greatly appreciated!
