: I have old 78 rpm , 33rpm, 45 rpm records and cassettes - I want to record them on to cd,s does anyone know a good software program that will allow me to copy them to my PC at the same time to edit them and and clean them up?

Dowloand <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Cool_Edit_Win32/">Cool Edit 96</a> and this will record little bits of a CD to .wav files and you can use it to edit the files as well.

No - that is there's nothing really reliable but there are ways to extract Vocals if they are perfectly centered in stereo and everything else isn't:

Try these steps - I'm just thinking off the top of my head so there's no guarantee this will work even if you have a suitable stereo .wav file:-
<ol>
<li>Download a good wave editor like <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Cool_Edit_Win32/">Cool Edit</a>
<li>Open your Stereo .wav file and save it as a Mono file
<li>Open another copy of your Stereo file and reverse the phase of ONLY 1 side of stereo - this means shift the phase by 180 degrees
<li>Save your new Stereo file as a Mono file - if this step has worked you should here the music without the vocals when you listen to this new mono file (except for maybe some vocal reverb)
<li>Then open both of your Mono files and create a new stereo file which has each mono file on separate sides of stereo
<li>Then have a listen and see if you get anything useful
</ol>

I use SoundOLE (which is on my AWE64 card). there are limitations, but it works. I then have a buddy write it to CD. Atleast gives me some accompaniment while playing along.
