Audio CD's

Does anyone know how to make an audio CD that will always be recognized by my kenwood car CD changer. Sometimes it recognizes it and sometimes it doesn't...thanks

To begin with, you can't use a rewritable disc for this purpose, always use recordables. Secondly, when you create a cd make sure it's not a data cd you're going to burn but an audio cd.

Insert scores into a Word Document

Hi,
I´m looking for software to write a music manual,
so I'll write a lot of text combined whit scores.
What is the best solution?
Thanks

Music Publisher was written to do exactly that. It is a notation program to write any sort of music (and of course print it!) and one of its features is the ability to take a section of the music (defined as a rectangle on the page - so 2 notes, 2 bars, 2 staves... anything) and create a PCX file from it which can be imported into MS Word (etc).

This facility is being used to create Church service sheets with congregational melody;
Examination questions in music;
Tutorials in various instruments;
University theses.

Registration price is $120 and you can see details, reviews etc and the download at www.muspub.com

There are probbaly lots of solutions - but I would recommend NoteWorthy Composer. The shareware conditions are very generous and the registration cost is good vale for money. Even though you can past score images direct into Word etc, it is likely that you will need a graphics package like Lview Pro or Paint Shop Pro to titivate the output.

"Vocal Eliminators"

I saw in some Web sites different hardware devices that can remove vocals from any source.
http://www.ltsound.com/
http://www.paia.com/vocalzap.htm
They're offering but,I don't believe in any hardware that can do a better job than a good software sound editor with graphics of voices in a spectrum pict, then like in Photoshop you can select what you want erase.

test - ignore

Re: "Vocal Eliminators"

How can you edit sounds with Photoshop? I have that program, and I haven't a clue how to do it.

Re: "Vocal Eliminators"

Ryan,
There is a program; SoundHandle 1.0.3 (Macintosh) where you can save a Spectrum of a sound as Pict, then open it in Photoshop, draw something, save it and when you open it back in SoundHandle, it plays the sound with the alteration that you made to the Pict. Obviously you can't do what is the beginning of my post, but the possibility is real. This is a very interesting topic that I would like to know more about it. It's incredible that the process of vocal elimination actually can be made only with analog hardware. I'm not a programmer but I think that it is possible with Software and the results, much better.

Re: "Vocal Eliminators"

Sorry, in my first message I forgot to ask; if there exist any software that can do that.

100 mhz computer, software reccomendation....

I'm looking for a sequencing software to create my own tracks for dj'ing, particularly Trance, House, Techno.

Can anyone recommend me a good software? These are my specs for my computer.

100 mhz
128 ram
windows nt
2.0 gig hard drive.

Rebuilt machine.

Thank you for your time and effort.

Peace,
Andreas,

Re: 100 mhz computer, software reccomendation....

I would recommend Cakewalk 5.0 if you can find it. Also, if all you need is MIDI, MIDISoft Recording Session is really good if you can find the old version. I have run it before on a 386 and it performs beautifully.

auto harmonizing software

Does anyone know of a software that will allow me to enter a melody and have the software provide the harmony perhaps give different styles?

Why does my recording always skip like a dirty CD?

I am trying to record music from my MiniDisc to my PowerBook 1400c (603e), and I get the best result from using Coaster. But even with Coaster, my recordings are skipping. Why? What can I do to improve my recordings? (Except from buying another harddrive or processor card)Please help me!

Re: Why does my recording always skip like a dirty CD?

What you can do is:

Record at a lower sampling rate and / or bit depth
Get more memory if possible
Defragment your hard drive
Clean unnecessary files off your hard drive

Convert wav files to CD audio?

Is there a programme to convert wav files to CD audio i`ve looked everywhere?

Re: Convert wav files to CD audio?

As long as you have 16Bit 44Khz Stereo Wav files, any CD burning program such as adaptec Easy CD or Nero will work.

Re: Convert wav files to CD audio?

How can I convert .WAV music files to CD Audio. I want to be able to play the music on my computer as well as my CD player. Also, do you know how to burn a CD of CD audio files as well as a power point presentation??? I can't burn one WITH the other on one CD. Will it work if I convert the .wav files to CD audio? I have both Nero as well as Roxio Easy CD Creator.

Thanks!

Jodi

obviosly puts the data onto CDR.

CD Writer

Hello, is there a CD-REWRITER I could get for under £120 of any make and do you know which shop or dealer that sells it. Cheers

Re: CD Writer

Check out www.ebay,.com and search for cd-rw. They go pretty cheap on there. Hopefully you can find one who will ship overseas.

music sequencer

I want to use midi files from commercial sellers like tran-tracks, and use them through a midi interface into a laptop computer, and into an external sound system for band backup. What is easiest system to use and how do I hook it up? Thanks anyone. cej

Re: music sequencer

Here's my secret: I have a MIDI keyboard and produce a lot of techno. Some of it is loop based and at 140bpm it can't be physically played. So, what I have done is, for a performance, I have an old 486 computer running Windows 3.1. I specify 3.1 for a reason: IT IS RELIABLE> I would not trust Windows 98 on a stage, or even 95. If you know enough about it, use Debian and some Linux shareware to do it: THAT won't fail on you. But you can get 486 machines for about $10 used I have 5 machines set up to do this now. It sounds a little nutas but it WORKS. For software I use MIDISoft Recording session from 1995. It's old school but reliable, especially if you carry a few machines around. Depending on your set environment you perform in, this may or may not work.

Lost serial number, HELP!

[The body of this post has been reconstituted from replies so it may differ from what was originally written.]

First I moved, then I had a crash. Now I'M reinstalling my software, but can't find serial number for CWPR, however, I have the key. Please help somebody, anybody?!

Re: Lost serial number, HELP!

I Assume you mean cakewalk.... if so:

"Lost your Cakewalk serial number or CD Key? Your serial number is located on your Cakewalk registration card. If you cannot find this card, or if you sent it to us and did not copy the number down, you'll need to call our Customer Service team at 1-888-CAKEWALK (press 3 when prompted). They'll be able to find your number or tell you how to receive a new one."

If it's not Cakewakl, please let us know.

Who invented the BS term "negativ music" ? It's either good or bad depending on what you like personally.

EXPERTS NEED N SUGGESTION NEEDED

Studio: Akai MPC 2000 Studio plus, KORG Triton pro X, Roland VS-1680 W/ VS8F-2, Tascam CD-RW700 & CD-RW5000.

Let me start off by saying that I'm new to the music production/midi world, former DJ.

Uses of gear:
MPC 2000
Midi connected separately to Korg & VS-1680.
1 Connection controls Korg sounds
2 Serve as a salve, control by VS-1680, after creating a sequence or song
2 analog outputs connected to the VS-1680 for recording
Digital input from CD700 & 2 analog inputs for sampling
Create & edit sequences/songs
Also connected to a CDROM player to load sounds, sequences, songs etc
Korg Triton pro X
Salve to MPC 2000 for sequences, song & sounds
2 analog outputs connected to VS-1680 for recording

VS-1680
Hard disk recording
Mixing & adding internal effects (love the effects)
Virtual tracks
Master mix

CD 700
Digital output to MPC for sampling

CD 5000
Analog input from VS-1680 for master recording

Now I added a Roland VSCDR, Cakewalk Pro Audio 9, PC WIN98 & Dio2448 digital sound card.

After four days of mass confusion, I'm begging for help.
I'm looking for any full detail suggestion on connections, syncs, etc.

I'm looking for a constant midi and audio connection to continue the use of the MPC2000 to create sequences and then transfer or record them to Cakewalk. Run sounds through the VS-1680 and digitally record them to Cakewalk. Then Cakewalk takes over editing sequences & audio, effects, mixing, record notations, virtual tracks etc… but I would like to use the effects of the VS-1680 or effects like them.
Any suggestions, tips and tricks please email me at supasize@bellsouth.net
Thank you

Re: EXPERTS NEED N SUGGESTION NEEDED

All you should need to do is create your patterns on the Akai. From their through normal midi i/o's, record them into Cakewalk (line up the program # with the patches on the Akai.) It might be a tiny bit off, just quantize to correct. (BTW You can leave the midi connection in order to record into cakewalk easily). So now Cakewalk will trigger you're akai as if it was playing. USe a midi patch bay, and sequence your Triton through Cake normally on a different port.
As far as the effects go with the 1680, I'd say create you're final track in Cakewalk and then mix down to the 1680 for effects. There's a ton of really good plugins for cakewalk too. Or you could record your loops as cakewalk Audio files in the first place, but I'd do the second. You have more flexibility in the end to mix the effects up a bit. Hope this helps.

BREAKING DOWN AUDIO CD TRACKS

DOES ANYONE KNOW OF ANY SOFTWARE THAT CAN TAKE REGULAR AUDIO CD'S AND CONVERT THEM TO KAROKEE, OR MORE IMPORTANTLY IS THERE SOFTWARE THAT CAN SEPERATE THE INSTRUMENT TRACKS ON AUDIO CD'S??
PLEASE LET ME KNOW

Nope but.....

Maybe, if we don't find one, we start our own company.

It is probably done off shore for the most part and is specialized (non commercial) software at this time.

keep me in mind if you find it.

Thanks
