Slicing our tracks HELP!!!
My band "Eteko" is searching for a way to take our mixed recordings from live performances that are digitally recorded, and take them on a PC and chop em up. What i mean by that is taking out lyrics, or my guitars, or taking everything out except my guitars.
Any Help is apreciated.

Splitting Headache
When you say 'Mixed' recordings, I assume that you mean the final Two Track Mix of the gig. If this is the case then you have about as much chance of removing individual instruments from it as I do of surviving a swan dive from the Empire state building.
Your mixdown is a complex series of frequencies over the wide audio bandwidth and represents one wave. Picking out individual frequencies related to one or other instrument would be too complicated even if they weren't all moving around. I have said things in the past are virtually impossible and they have become resonably possible but this one will probably come after the cure for the common cold.
Cheers

Re: Splitting Headache
ok, im not exactly sure as to what u mean in the beginning but think of it as me trying to take vocals or guitars out of a track on a cd. like i wanted to make a parody or something. does that help you?

Voice Faker
Hello,
I am looking for a sound editor that would enable voice faking. For example, by manipulating sound frequencies according to a special frequency analysis...
Thanx for help,
Ben
Re: Voice Faker
I think you mean a vocoder, this is the effect on the voices in lots of dance songs. It does so, exactly as you suggested, by manipulating sound frequencies according to a special frequency analysis...
Try downloading the cylonix vocoder, I think it is in the download section of this site.
It's buggy and not very easy to use with wave-recordings as carrier and modulator, but it's fun.
It might be just what you need....
Re: Voice Faker
Formant envelopes turn your midi instruments into vowel sounds. Very laborious.
monologue and analogx sayit turn typed words into sound. Monologue isn't really for music, but it works well.
Can you be more specific?
Re: Voice Faker
Are you thinking of Pitch shifting?
nothin' like a squeeky voice upped 3 octaves...
*Cringe*

Huh?
I'm not sure what you mean. It was starting to sound like you could do with a Vocoder but the 'Special Frequency Analysis' threw me off...
Sounds interesting...

sync modular
i'm looking for some interesting patches for sync modular. anyone else find this program awesome? the godhead offspring of modular synths and the vrtual number universe. i'd like to get a melotron sound- haven't gotten it yet. dr. sync, i dig your program.
marc.
Re: sync modular
So am I, especially: is there a step sequencer batch? Like with Rebirth? Or Reaktor?
The shared drive mentioned by dr sync seems to be canceled - any new place for it?
cheers

Need Vision For Win Vers2.5.1 desperately!!
Can someone please tell where I can get the upgrade for
Vision for Windows 2.5 - Vision 2.5.1? Opcode used to have
a download site but now it has gone! I am right in the
middle of a job and my software has bitten the dust.
I am rather frantic as the job goes to air in two weeks.
Thanks in advance
ANDREW HARRISON
BTW I think that will switch to Cubase or Logic very soon!
Re: Need Vision For Win Vers2.5.1 desperately!!
Greetings. I am a 2.5.1 user. When opcode died I got cubase vst, then cakewalk pro, then logic. Learned them all ok. Lots of configuration quirks.
Still do all my midi in vision. Wish there were some companion program(s) to accomplish digital audio smoothly with vision. I also have cool edit pro. It's the easiest to work with, but still not
feeling good. Any ideas?
Re: Need Vision For Win Vers2.5.1 desperately!!
Hi,
I'm searching Vision for Win too (2.5 / 2.5.1)!
I really want to have but I actually can't find it.
Perhaps you can help me. If you have the program, maybe you can send it to me via E-Mail, or tell me where I can download it.
Thanks a lot.
Torben.
I hope to get a message from you.

Opcode
Opcode have gone out of business unfortunately, do you already know? I don't know how that affects opdates etc. Probably no more... sigh...
The good news is that there is a petition for the source code to be given 'free access' so that other companies can continue writing for this popular range. Go there and vote!!

I assume that your a Macintosh user?? I have used Cubase and ended up using Logic. You can use VST plugins with the newer Logic audio so you don't lose out on all those niceties.

G string trouble
hi chaps! this is the thin white duke calling from london... listen, i can't find my g string on me guitar... is it after or before that nasty a string?...
Similar difficulties...
That's some nasty problem you have there, David.
My suggestion is you tune every string in g, that way you can't go wrong :)
I have this very similar problem with my keyboard,
I can't find that darn middle c just when I need it..
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated....
Re: G string trouble
I never would have dared to explain this to Mr. David Bowie, but...
...the order of strings is E - A - D - G - H - E (from lowest to highest)!
Have fun,
Harald

I've searched for many years for the 'H' string on my guitar and now i've found it, hoorah!!
Only joking, that 'H' is a little close to the 'B' on my keyboard too...

Hmmm....
I doubt that you'll have much luck but i'm prepared to be proven wrong. Voice recognition programs still have problems getting it right after analysing your voice many times. Trying to analyse all those different singing styles with all that music going on would more than likely be unreliable to say the least.
I'd like this sort of program myself but it seems so unlikely. If you ever find anything, let me know wont you?
Cheers

What the hell are you talking about ?
He wants to take thelyrics out of his MP3's.
Aren't you Mr. Vocals Remover? Or is that another Steve.
He either needs a winamp/MP3 compat vocal rem (analogx vocal remover at www.analogx.com) or a tag studio that will allow him to edit the attached text (arca MP3 tag studio).
Jeez, talk about ranting.

the above should read out of the jack plug on my speaker . this is what i want to run to the cassette recorder
Re: output to cd recorder from speaker port
If this will all be done on one computer, your best off to write the CD from teh computer, instead of from the tape. as for getting it to tape, you need a cable to go from the audio out of your soundcard to the audio in of the tape, set your levels for volume, and play the music, and put the tape on record.

TAPE 2 CD
I know this has been covered, but can someone please explain to me how to copy cassette tape to CD...how exactly to hook up my tape deck to my computer...???
Thanks!
Re: TAPE 2 CD
You need a connector to go from the output of the cassette deck to the input on your soundcard.
It will usually be a cable that has 2 RCA connectors on the end.. those go into the tape deck. The other end of the cable will have a 1/8 inch TRS connector.. it looks exactly like a headphone connector. when you get it plugged in, you need a program that will record the audio from the tape as you play it back. Use a program such as Groove mechanic. If you need to professionally edit, such as noise reduction, etc.. try cooledit, or soundforge, or goldwave.

PC music/video software
Looking for PC software to overlay music score and project "bouncing ball" onto video projector. Similar to the old movies with "sing-a-long" music tracks.
Please help!
Re: PC music/video software
Only 2 years too late...
Opus (a power-point look alike)(http://www.digitalworkshop.com/dw_shop/products/opus/index.shtml) can do this, but it's pretty hard to set up, unless you have lyrics only.
The Microsoft Producer plug-in for PowerPoint XP can also do this, but it isn't straight forward.

Re: PC music/video software
Try Adobe Premiere. It's a really good video editing manipulating program.
