Re: How to burn DVD's
I think that you have to have a dvd writer and probably the right software. This will set you back a bit then the blank dvds are about £8 each. So if thats what you call inexpensive, go for it.

I also have the same problem in Windows XP Pro. Using Nero 5.5.6.4 and there is still no security tab.
Would be interested to hear if anyone has come up with a fix for this

Compiling a VCD
am burning an avi file from my drive to a cd, but when i use nero it first encodes the video which takes a really long time. is this supposed to take a long time? about 450megs - 2 hours? thanks a lot
How do I burn a VCD??
Does the NERO program convert AVI to mpeg format for VCDs? From the forum and discussion topics I have read, people make it seem as if the program has come kind of converting feature...Can't I convert the file to MPEG using another program and then just burn it on?? I'm confused about the program. I haven;t downloaded it yet, but Im curious.

It all depends on your processor. I had to convert about 690 megs of video to VCD format and it took all night on a Pentium II 450 with MMX.

Can you please tell me how i can find a movie on the internet and burn it to a disk so i can watch it on my dvd player, and it has to be free, like when you make cd's for free. I have no idea how to make dvd's please help me!

i hope this will do....
try this :
open "administrative tools -> local security policy", then, in the left tree, go to "local policies -> security options".
here, search and click on "restrict cd-rom access to locally logged-on user only" and set the radio-button to "enabled".
that's all...it worked for me...

Can't record over 8x With Nero and XP
If I try to burn a CD over 8x, it fails at 10%. I am using Windows XP and and a 16x Yamaha with Nero 5.5.5.1. I installed the CD patch from Microsoft, ugraded all firmware and still with no effect Any help?

it seems we all have the same problem, i am using nero 5582 right now,,and i was using 5580, when i use ISO to burn data file, or even mp3, it was all fine, but when i try to use audio to burn wav cd,,then my burn stop moving, don't know why, sometimes it goes to 2%, or stop at beginning 1%,,i asked a lot of people, but so far nobody really know how to solve this problem.

I have a TDK 8x burner and Nero ran great under Win ME.. After upgrading to XP and using Nero 5.5.8.0, the buffer fills, reaches 2% on the burn and freezes my machine!!

I have the same drive, AMD athlon xp 1900+ and 512 megs of DDR and I can't record over 8x either.

I have LiteOn 16X10X40 and it usually takes 3 to 4 min to burn a full CD (>640MB) under Win2000. Now it takes almost 30 min. What's going on here with Nero 5.5.x and XP?

Not Able to Simulate a Run in Nero
I'm not sure if this is a big problem because I was able to burn a few audio and data CDs, but for some reason Nero 5.5.5.1 (as well as the previous version 5.5.2.4) doesn't allow me to select neither the Verify Speed nor the Simulate options on the Burn tab for any of the CD types. I'm using a new QPS 24x10x40 and I'm running Windows Me on a Dell. Tech support at QPS couldn't help.

Your advice is not correct, as power users have full control and I placed my users in the power users group and still I cannot burn. It is only from the admin group that I am able to burn.
I even have the beta 5.5.5.6 of Nero and still there is no security tab as they boast in the release of 5.x.x.x.
I have a ten or so customers who are in the same situation.
I contacted TDK tech support as they distribute Nero with their 24x burner. They said they would get back to me, but it has been 4 days and they have not called me back.

Got the exact same error message. Here's my own little story:
-My CD burner is an LG 12x8x32x,
-Got rid of the CD Adaptec software, cause it kept ruining tons of my recordable cd's.
-Got Nero instead. At first, everything was great, but the same s... started to happen on a regular basis.
-Got a new CD-R brand (Sony 700 MB) and ererything seemed resolved, as I not longer got the error message. Lots of efficient burning done.
-The error message started to happen again everytime, and no burning is possible.
Where have your researches led you ?

Help please!... I have tried to convert an .avi of 112MB, to VCD format using Nero 5.5.5.1, when brought into track field, it registered as a 40 minute track of which I had ample space on my CDR. Unfortunately the burn process stopped because of a problem which said,
"not enough memory", please explaing, and please help to figure out a solution..

Hello!
I was wondering, i want to burn one of movies as a VCD but the CD-R is too small to accomdate the movie when it converts it. How do i burn the movie on 2 CD-R's so it will fit??? Do i just burn the first one then eject and enter the 2nd CD-R?? or is there a specific procedure i most follow????

... this is the way it SHOULD work. I've problems on my w2k domain, so theese settings doesn't affect Nero behaviour that still work only when logged with administrator rights

Burning Videos Help
I want to burn some video files that are in Real Player and MPEG formats on my computer. Is there a problem trying to burn these 2 formats in one session? It seems when I burn a single file it works. Anyone know how to fix this?

Problem with nero 5.5.5.1 and Xp
If i have Nero 5.5.5.1 installed on my Windows Xp system and reboot, my CD drives don't appear, and I can't use them any more, because something is wrong about the registry or the CD-Rom drivers.
Please help me with that.

can nero rom software work with adaptec software
Hi,
i have written a file in my RW CD using adaptec directCD write. But i cannot delete that file when using another PC with nero burning rom software.
OS is windowME
what have i done wrong? need enlightenment from some kind soul.

Thats cause directcd sux ... delete it... it just wastes cd space and crashes your computer

Hi, Im trying to get nero setup to let users on my computers burn cds, but nero has said that all users need administrative rights to use the cd-r and thats really out of the question.
Any1 have any sugestions... Thanks

Did you ever get an answer to this one? I just discovered the exact same problem at work.

I have administrator access and still can't get it to work with Windows 2000 professional. I have set removeable storage and local security settings, but no luck.If you do manage to get it to work, please let us know how to do it.
