how to decode plenty files?

The first one in messageboards is a zip-file,
the other parts are only text-code.

So I cut that text to textfiles, how to
put that files into that first zip-file?

Or does anybody know some open newsserver with
an complete alt.binaries.sounds.utilities?

What software uses pencil-in cells instead of notes?

I cannot read or write musical notation, but I have seen a music software program that allows the user to "pencil-in" cells to create a musical score. The music can be created graphically and replayed on the computer without the user ever seeing a note of music. Can anyone tell me what software does this and where I can find it?

Robert,

most sequencer programs offer a piano roll view in which you
can enter / edit notes. But beware, it's a lot of work to let it
sound musically. Entering via a keyboard / MIDI instrument produces
better results much faster, if you want to achieve a good musical
result.

I'm a french'man, idon't read so much English, and i Try to find a software for Wondows 98 (on PC) for synthes of sounds with possibility to do mixing some sounds, when I want, with possibility of calculating and changing the frequencies; and if possible to seing the spectgram of each sound that i've created;

Converting Mac Midi files to PC

I'd appreciate any info please on a programme to covert mac midi files to pc midi.... have tried Xchange, Conversions Plus, Keyview and QuickView Plus.... none support midi...
surely there is something out there that will do this... thanks in advance...

As MIDI files are standardized and the standard has been
accepted by all MIDI manufacturers of hard- and software, it
shouldn't be necessery of converting them. But make sure
that your files are really MIDI files, not proprietary sequencer /
notation program formats. Additionally, make sure both computers
can read the same disk.

hey man i got some great options for you! i remix some music on my computer....go to http://www.tactile12000.com to get a simulation of a dj setup...if you arent good at beatmatching yet, go to http://www.technomusic.com and they have drum machines, mixers, and synths for FREE! well email me to ask me some more sites!

mike, try rebirth (fantastic 2 303s plus 808 /
909 - it's also a sequencer for itself)
also rubberduck by d-lusion for unbelievable
noises. for drums beatbox (steinberg) is a sampling
drum machine and apparently fruity loops is good
although i still haven't tried it. problem is you
have to pay for all of these unless you get pirate
copies (hard). try looking in -
www.astalavista.box.sk ;-) or if you

haven't got the full picture yet.

I've got Winamp as the mp3 player. i understand that winamp can
assist me to convert it. i've tried it, but still can't produce the
converted cd file.

I have AudioCd MP3 Studio, and it doesn't work for me. It either tells me that the disk has been written on (which is never true), or that it is unable to read my disk drive. Can someone email me some help on the subject? Thanks!

Hello there,

I'll answer your questions sequentially.

1. Converting a wav file is a piece of cake. However, what format do you want to convert to? If you want to give people the chance to hear your music as it downloads, it might be best to use Real Audio. You'll find a tutorial on how to do this at <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/news/9902_105/">http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/news/9902_105/</a>. If you want to offer the famed MP3 format, you'll need an MP3 converter. You'll find them <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/categories/Popular_Formats/MPEG/software.shtml">here</a>.
2. Adding a sound to a web page is not necessarily a good idea. More often than not, it's irritating. Look at it like this, you may be surfing late at night and a sudden burst of music could wake the baby. Other people don't like auto-loading music as it takes the control away from their viewing experience. There are exceptions, but more often than not it's a bad idea. Still, if you want to do it, you might try http://www.uniontel.net/howto/sound.html as well as http://www.geocities.com/~mrooks/dosound.htm and http://owc.sfi.org/test/ht_sound.htm

Problems using Reality synth with Cubase VST

Despite following all he instructions that came with the Reality software, I cannot get them to work together. If I start up Reality, it works. When I start up Cubase(3.65) it tells me that my midi port is already in use and Reality no longer functions. I am using a Pentium II (233) with 64Mb Ram and a Soundblaster AWE32 with the latest drivers... please help!

don´t use the cubase Vst with reatity..
I use Reality with cubasis and run very well.
the cubase vst give problems because Reality use the funcions of audio in your sound card.
try deleted to cubase Vst and setup the cubasis
I have and work with this programs and don´t problem. The results are best¡¡¡¡¡

You have to make sure that they are not using the same ins&outs. For ex: I have a Dmann2044 sound card which has 4 ins &4 outs.I set my cubase to 3&4 and the reality to 1&2.Also go into cubase under the audio(or maybe its the systems) option and choose the ASIO driver. Open it and check to see that the reality driver is active.From with in there you should also be able to change which outs cubase is using on your sound card.

I have n-track shareware I can register for 35$
Now i'm just using a 4-track tape recorder.
I'd like to believe that my computer can get
better recordings. Id like to be able to copy and

you may strike probs converting your 24 or 32 bit recordings back to 16 bit when you go to write your final adio mix. If you don't have any probs with the final conversion back to 16 bit then I would recomend recording at the highest bit depth you can.

::Check to see if your music software has a "dithering" option. If you record at 24 bit, for example, and dither down to 16 bit for the cd recording, you'll end up with near 24 bit sound quality at 16 bit. Many audio folks agree that dithering algorythms today are so good that it sounds as such (unless your software has a bad dither-er).

im not sure if your talking about compsing music in your computer or simply pirating cd's but if your composing computer music i can help..... record your tracks at the highest resolution possibe while in the mixing stage, but when you get to the final stage just b4 you go to CD theres a process called dithering... which lets you keep most of the quality but still lowering the bitrate to 16bit.... email me if you want to chat
