For the longest time I was using a plugin for MusicMatch which worked with the Rio PMP300 on Windows NT/2000/XP. Unfortunately when I rebuilt my machine and tried to download the plugin again from MusicMatch it was no longer an option. I say write to MusicMatch and see if they will post the plugin again. Can't remember if you have to buy the software for the option to download music to peripheral devices but I think it's under $25.

the only thing I found that works so far is sveta audio player from Winamp...costs 20 bucks.

Follow Brain Arnstrong's instructions on 4/5/02, but use the driver from http://www.rioworld.org/rio500-new.htm if you encounter problems. Works great!!

This player uses the printer pot, not Com 1 or 2. Keeps telling me that the port is busy when I try to down load anything to it. Got the driver from your internet site. Ordered the player from the net and did not get any soft ware with it. Do you have the correct soft ware that I can down load. The other one I down loaded must not be the right one. Not much good to me as it is right now. Sincerly yours.

If you have anything other than windows 95/98 the software you have will not work. Try this software...Riositude...even works on windows XP without having to update your driver.

Go to http://www.riohome.com/support/rio/ or see the attached link. Or you can start at the riohome.com site, go to support, then legacy rio products and find the RIO Diagnostics program. This will allow the reformatting of the smart card so it can be used on other devices.

I had the same kind of problems.
A friend of my has also a pmp300 and has also connection problems "checksum and authentication fail..."

I tried last week with a smartmedia, the pmp300 recognized 64 MB (total) but it was still not possible to upload any mp3 to the pmp300.

I tried several PC's, different LPTport in different modes, Win95 win 98 WinME
but nothing solves the problem

I'm sure that more people have this kind of problem ... And DiamondMM WILL NOT HELP

I never buy anything from diamond anymore ...
(because of their bad support in Europe-netherlands)

Hi Friends!! i have the same checksum fail problems, so i've searched at sonicblue, and in one of the FAQ's they suggest you to change the computer end comunnication cable with the pmp300 end, i mean, invert the end of the cable who conects to the parallel port and the rio, and try again, i just inverted it and then it works.

Hey,
I just downloaded RIOPORT onto my computer to solve the XP problem, but now when I try to transfer a song onto my RIOplayer, an error occurs because it says that there isn't enough room for the song. With the older driver I used to fit at least 6 songs on it. Has anyone else come across this problem?

You can email support@diamondlegacy.com and they will send a link to correct the driver. Be patient....it took about a week for a reply!

The "not limited to" statement makes me curious, but I don't want to waste money on a card just to experiment. Has anyone tried it?

Curious as well, I have a 128mb SM and Dreaming of Brazil doesn't even recognize it. Would love for diamond to make a firmware upgrade for our little pieces of crap.

Well I know those prog SUCK......Seems that after awhile they made my RAM bad. (Bad sectors) I thought my rio was DONE for! Then I got 2000 tried that program I posted about below. And THAT seems to format and fix it all! Try using that prog and see if it helps.
