: is there a program that can record real audio stream playing live??

RealPlayer G2 can once you've bought the registered version, provided that the person transmitting the audio has allowed recording.

: It is called Virtualizer, and it provides full MIDI control over litterally every function of the VS880, VS880EX and VS890. I began writing it about a year ago out of necessity because I just couldn't find anything that was comprehensive enough or gave me enough control. E-Magic's software for the VS-880 is really bad, VSPro is terrible, VSremote is pretty bad, and the leading software such as Cakewalk or Sonic Foundry, are too generic for what I needed. I think what I have written really is far more superior to anything else I've ever seen. My intention, when writing this program, was to never have to push a single button on the VS880 ever again. Basically, do all of my editing straight from the PC.

: 1. It provides seperate mixers for the Main Mixer, Aux, FX1, and FX2 a three band parametric EQ for each channel and 8 Scenes can be stored for each of these screens. The mixer screen is quit powerfull.

: 2. There is quit a compreshensive transport window for handing all tape transport related functions as well as for setting and accessing markers and locate points.

: 3. There is also a meter bridge that's pretty cool and a waveform viewer/editor that displays waveforms for all 8 channels.

I really went out of my way to make it the coolest looking program ever. ...And its appearance can be altered drastically by applying different bitmaps to the screens. It comes with 48 bitmaps and any user bitmaps can be imported. What this allows you to do is work on a mixer made of marble, metal, leather, wood, or any other texture to can imagine.

: Guitar Amp Simulator, Chorus, Compressor/Limiter, Delay, Multi-Tap delay, Guitar Multi 1,2, and 3, Mic Simulator, 10Band graphic EQ, 4Band Parametric EQ, Mastering Tool Kit, LoFi Processor, Vocoder 1 and Vocoder 2, Reverb, Rotary, Phaser, Flanger, Pitch Shifter, Vocal Multi, Voice Transformer, Gate Reverb, Tape echo, Analog Flanger, Analog Phaser, Reverb 2, 3 band Isolator, Hum Canceler, and Vocal Canceler.

: These Effects screens allow access to the effects algorithms and parameters unlike anything the VS880 allows you to do. You can actually accomplish alot of things that the VS-880 alone does not allow you to do.

: 7. It DOES provide the ability to chain an infinite number of VS880's together with an infinite number of PC's. (Chaining multiple units is something many of the developers of the other VS880 programs listed above seem to have overlooked).

: 8. You can also do a complete download of all VS880 settings (which transfers all data from the VS880 to your PC...several thousand kilobytes...and only takes a minute or two depending on you PC speed).

: These are only but a few of the MANY features.

: It DOES NOT provide any sequencing capabilities at this time (my needs don't require sequencing, but if user demand were to dictate it, I would certainly add the capability)

: The point is to simpify the entire recording process so that we recording artists can focus soley on our art form and not on which button combination gets you into the menu where if you press the right thing at the right time, maybe it will begin to think about adjusting the EQ.

Streambox Ripper converts Real Audio files to mp3. I'm still looking for an application that converts Real Audio to wav.
