Introducing DSP-FX Virtual Pack 5.5
Hello,
Event Electronics is proud to announce the availability of
Version 5.5 of the DSP-FX Virtual Pack. This version features
both operational enhancements and the new StudioVerb Plug-In.
Now you get 11 world-class effects in the Virtual Pack for
the same low price.
DSP-FX Virtual Pack 5.5 Enhancements
* StudioVerb Plug-In
The DSP-FX StudioVerb provides the very dense, warm
reverberation sound previously available only in high-end
studio reverberation systems. The StudioVerb actually offers
improved sonic quality as compared to those high-end systems
due to its 32-bit floating point algorithm, which is free
from the low-level noise associated with the more commonly
used fixed-point algorithms.
The StudioVerb is a perfect complement to the Virtual Pack's
original AcousticVerb reverb. Now you can choose between the
rich warmth of the StudioVerb or the natural sounding acoustic
spaces provided by the AcousticVerb.
The StudioVerb is implemented using DSP-FX Inc.'s proprietary
DSP coding techniques, which feature extremely high efficiency.
As such, the StudioVerb typically uses half of the CPU load
of other premium reverb plug-ins.
* Improved Plug-In Window Handling
While maintaining the many benefits of the Virtual Pack's
multi-threaded implementation, such as live input and
stand-alone modes, several improvements have been made to the
management of the Plug-In windows. The 5.5 version minimizes
any extra user window operations when initiating track
playback.
A demo version of the new DSP-FX Virtual Pack V. 5.5, which
includes a free multi-element delay plug-in, is available for
downloading from the Event Electronics Web site,
http://www.event1.com <http://www.event1.com>.
Registered DSP-FX customers can install the new demo without
affecting their currently installed version. On the site you
can also find complete information on the Virtual Pack and on
obtaining the 5.5 upgrade. Note that the upgrade can be ordered
via the Event Web site or directly from Event.
We hope you'll take the time to check out the new StudioVerb
plug-in and the rest of the DSP-FX Virtual Pack. We think you'll
be glad you did!
Thanks,
Mark Kaplan

MP2 to WAV or MP3
Hey all...
I'm using RecordIt to try to move some of my old demo tapes to CD. Unfortunatly, it will only save in MP2 format. Does anyone know how to:
1) Save in something other than MP2 in Iomega RecordIt?
or
2) Convert the MP2 into a WAV or MP3?
Thanks!
Re: MP2 to WAV or MP3
Yes, use Winamp. It will do the job nicely.

Darla vs Gina
Hi, I'm looking to buy a new soundcard for recording audio only. I want an Event Gina, but I'm hampered by a very thin wallet! Can anyone tell me if the Darla is
worthwhile purchasing, or should I save up for a Gina? Are the extras on the Gina worth the bigger money, or are the features a luxury I could manage without? (ie breakout box etc.)
Thanks
Skip.
I agree. MY Gina works Just Fine.
I acutally think that they are the same card.
One just uses RCA type of connectors and the other
Gina, uses a 1/4 inch breakout box.
Re: Darla vs Gina
Hey Skip
I have the Gina and it's pretty good. However, I rarely use the digital in/out which is the (expensive) difference between the 2 cards. Do you need 8 outs? Have you got the mixer to cope?
To be honest I think that the Darla and the Layla are the "relevant" cards....if you can afford to get pro then go all the way and get the Layla... if not I'd get the Darla and some really good screened cable and save some cash.

VST insallation problem
everytime i try to enter my serial# for my vst dance pac i get a message telling me the information is no good. can somebody please help? thanks.
Re: VST insallation problem
Return it to the vendor! It is very possible that your software might have been opened and used or switched and then resealed again. This has happened to me before. They used my software for a demo and then resealed it!!!
Cubase SCORE Crashes
In Cubase Audio XT 3.0, using the Score, it is very unstable and always crashes. I've only got a P100 with 24MB RAM (sad i know) but i've tried it on my friend's P350 with 128MB RAM and it still does it.
Is there a patch or something you can get? or is there any other way around it? anyone? pleeeease?!!

lead sheet rhythmic notation
I am in need of a Mac music notation program that offers the kind of rhythmic indicators that I've read and used in studio and concert for the past twenty years but seem lacking in the programs I've seen. Rather than actual note values, I'm looking for a program that provides diagnol slashes for quarter note strokes, dots for adding eighths, etc, to stemmed slashes representing rhythmic, rather than tonal information to the reader. Price is not necessarily an issue. Just want to find something that can lay out a rhythmic chart for rhythm section. Thank you.

All major notation programs should be able to do
that. I confirm it for Finale (at least since
version 3.5 for windows) and Encore (at least
since version 3.0). In Finale, it's fairly
easy to do rhythmic notation as you mentioned, but
in one situation, Encore's easier: if you want
to have four slashes in voice (layer) #2 and
some brass accents in voice (layer) #1, e.g.
when writing drum parts.
But finally, it's a matter of overall preference
concerning notation programs.
Greetings,
Harald

Re: lead sheet rhythmic notation
I can't believe that in all my searching on the web that someone hasn't come up with this simple program. I know that I can spend $500 for Finale [which I will probably do], but I would love to see someone come up with a simple rhythm chart program with chord symbols and rhythm slashes...that's it. The chord symbols would be transposable for the whole chart with one command. Is it out there? No one else is wondering about this since 1999???

Hi
Perhaps you have to look your numeric connexion (3 wire from the back of your CDRom drive to your sound card)
The second possible reason is that your PC (hard drive) is too slow!!!
The third possible reason is that your CDRom drive recording volume is too down
If I can help you more mail me, if not sorry

Problem Recording Audio!!!
Hello, can somebody help me with the following problem?
I use Cubasis AV for Audio recording. When I record a track suddenly it sounds much softer and it has a lot of ticks in it, like it's a recording from a vinyl record. This problem also occurs in Cubase VST and Cakewalk. What to do?
Problem Recording Audio!!! P.s.
I use this software in combination with the Creative Soundblaster Live! and 64 Mb RAM on a Pentium II 333.
Should be enough, right?
Re: Problem Recording Audio!!! P.s.
Getting problems with Steinberg stuff doesn't surprise me at all. they are very fussy about your gear, but the cakewalk giving problems is more significant.....If you go to www.event1.com you can download Echo's "reporter" prog which is actually designed for their soundcards, but it will give a good indication of Hard drive/ Buss speed etc and may point out where the problem is...
