Re: rm file

Re: rm file

Indeed, the 1st 2 people don't no anything about media. There are a few ways to convert .rm to something else (like .avi):

use Tinra (This Is Not Real Anymore). The first versions of Tinra produce huge files and are often not in synch (audio & video). Maybe the latest version converts straight divx files... that would b very nice indeed.

You could also use a screen capture program. The one i like best is Hypercam. SnagIt sux cuz of 2 things: 1 it doesn't support "start recording when play button is pushed". 2 it's not able to 'automatically apply the correct window size.

Rightclick on My Computer, Properties, System Properties, Graphics and turn off hardware acceleration. Do the same in Realplayer (View, Preferences, Performance and uncheck Video Card Compatibility). This way it'll record the video correctly. If u have a SoundBlaster Live, u can record audio directly, otherwise just connect your soundcard output to the soundcard input. Now run Hypercam and 'convert' your .rm files.

Hope this helps!

Re: rm file

What has been said before is total shit!
You don't want to hear music with the media player?!

There is a program indeed which converts .rm
files to divX files (latest divx codec needed)
Those divx files could be viewed with mediaplayer

the prog is called "TinraGUI" (you also need
"Tinra" but its all on the hompage.

If people can't help you, why do they post such...

Re: rm file

Unfortunately not, you need to download RealPlayer to your computer in addition to Windows Media Player, because some websites use RealPlayer & some sites use Windows Media Player.

MP3-->MIDI

does anyone know what program that I can dl to convert mp3 or other music format to midi...??????????

Re: MP3-->MIDI

CANT do it!!! ... think of MIDI as a sheet music, every instrument nice and in their own track. EVERY sound in a MIDI file is a separte bit of information. An MP3 file is technically "NOISE" Good sounding noise, but it's just a blast of "everything at one".
Listen to an MP3 file and try to pick one single NOTE at a time as the file plays . Cant be done.
Thats what it would take to convert a MP3 to MIDI. every millisecond of the MP3 would need to be analyzed and everything thats happening in that millisecond would need to be assigned a NOTE a PITCH an instrument a tempo , etc etc etc .. you get the idea.

Re: MP3-->MIDI

Dude, MIDI means Musical Instrument Device Interface. You don't convert recorded music "to MIDI", you play music on your instrument THROUGH a midi interface and RECORD IT!

Re: MP3-->MIDI

I think what he meant was to convert audio files into a legal MIDI sequence. It's equally impossible. Well, it's possible, but the results range from absolute s**te to terrible.

Unless your audio file is single polyphonic, don't bother.

www.akoff.com have a good example of what can be acheived, but don't expect too much.

Cheerio!

Re: MP3-->MIDI

There is a program called MIDItoWAV or something like that. It works beautifully but costs a bazzillion dollars. I wish I could remember the name for you. Some folks will say that you can't convert from MP3 or WAV to MIDI...and that was true...ten years ago!

Almost free...it's worth the 15$.
I've tried it...some little (tiny) time errors sometimes but hey =)

incompatibly

Hey, I installed Total Recorder 3.2 in Windows 2000. Before I configured it or registered it, I noticed one of my favorite programs (Singularity 2000) would no longer start. After I uninstalled Total Recorder, Singularity 2000 was fine. I want both programs. Ideas? Thanks, Ted

Re: incompatibly

First of all whats singularity 2000? second you should definetly try GOLWAVE not only can it record from other programs it can edit the sound quikly and easily once you've recorded it

goldwave

Ya but Goldwave doesn't record streaming audio to mp3 or wma.

Re: incompatibly

:

: Ya but Goldwave doesn't record streaming audio to mp3 or wma.

I'm afriad you're mistaken just like total recorder claims to be able to do goldwave and probably many other editors can record what you hear no matter what there is no way to block this or else you wouldn't hear any thing

Try this instead

Any thing that the total recorder can do Golwave can do better.

Re: Try this instead

: Any thing that the total recorder can do Golwave can do better.

Can Goldwave capture sounds playing by any program? It seems for me, not.

Re: Try this instead

At first Goldwave was able to record from the programs that i tried but just recently it stopped for no apparent reason I do not know if it was something that i did or if it was because of goldwave passing its $40.00 toll or what. All I know is i tried total recorder and it worked but once it was installed it changed all my programs wave out's to its wave in. I'm not a computer expert but I believe this to cause more problems then I care to deal with so I took it off my hard drive. I am going to try it again so we'll see what happens.

Uniterrupted Stream

Is there a way to interrupt the uniterrupted stream (containing several songs in one WAV file) in order to break it into separate files each representing a song from the uniterrupted string?

Re: Uniterrupted Stream

: Is there a way to interrupt the uniterrupted stream (containing several songs in one WAV file) in order to break it into separate files each representing a song from the uniterrupted string?

Yes - use a wave editor like Cool Edit to load the stream and chop it up. Requires a MONSTER amount of memory.

: You can use the program Audiograbber, www.audiograbber.com, and a connection from the line-out of your tape player to the line-in of your computer sound card. When you download Audiograbber also download LAME MP3 DLL with it and you will be able to convert directly to MP3 if desired. I collect jazz tapes and cassettes, and convert them for storage on my computer.

HURRAH FOR THIS PROGRAM!

I just wanted to thank the people who made this program. Unlike the other pricks who make you pay just to download their programs, you guys don't. Thanks a lot for this.

Cassette ( Analogue) to CD Burner

I too am interested in recording music on a laptop CDR.  (PC Format)

Since you made your inquiry have you had any feedback?

If so, perhaps you wouldn't mind sharing?

I wonder if recording from cassette tape and vinyl records is possible in a laptop CD Burner?

If so what kind of software, if any, is reqired and also how do you physically connect the tape deck or record player to the laptop; and is that connection made in stereo?

Also, is it possible to get a laptop with RCA audio-in plugs?

Appreciate any help,

Woods

PS. Are there any web sites that can help in learning more about recording music from tapes and records? Also, any sites out there that deal with video production?

i ran into this problem a couple of weeks ago. if u still read this contact my email and ask how.

Re: Cassette ( Analogue) to CD Burner

Try downloading RealJukebox 2 from their website: then go to the Tools menu and click "Record from mic/line in..."
You can also get the tape-to-Cd facility on the
NTI CD Maker, but you will need to buy the Professional Edition, not the Standard, costing $49.99. Go to:

Want to produce a language course with “Buddy speech”; finally r

Dear visitors,

I would like to use this program (Buddy speech) to produce a language course with “Buddy speech”; after editing finally record it on a tape.

I tried the limited version and encountered the following problem:

- When I copy it to a tape, a disturbing low (high frequency) noise is constantly there on the tape; it does occur when I plug in the outline-cable from the Loud-speakers in the input jack from the cassette-recorder (do I need a special cable to record it on the cassette recorder, does that solve this problem ?).

Please send me an e-mail.

Greetings

set up total recorder????

I downloaded total recorder and the instructions said to test it before registering. I would certainly like to, but I'm a new user and don't have a clue how to set it up. I have written to total recorder twice asking for bonehead instructions but have not heard back. I would greatly appreciate it if someone would either tell me or direct me to a site that even a newbie could understand. I intend to use it to record and send voice messages to foreign pen pals, so what I need to know is what I do to set it up in such a way that the files are as small as possible and are as long as possible. Sound quality is secondary. Thanks ahead of time for any help!

When I downloaded this program, it unzipped with a .doc file which has the instructions you desire. If your download did not contain the .doc file, try downloading thru c|net. By the way, to record more than 40 sec, you will have to purchase full version.
