We had the same problem. We solved it as follows:
Start the OS while the MBox is UNPUGGED. When the OS is up, plug the MBox in and start pro tools up. This should work... :-)

You should try to put the DAE folder in your system folder. That's when PT will recognise it.

They're giving you this free version of pro tools so you'll want to buy an outlandishly high priced full version. I always wanted pro tools but it was impossible to find, and I did find it I discovered it would be cheaper to just go into a real recording studio. So I went out and bought cakewalk home studio. I love it and it was only 80 bucks. Give it a try if you get dissatisfied with pro tools, you might like it.

This means that you'r using a Nubus Mac whose system lacks this library. Solution: either use a PCI Mac or ask the software developer for a Nubus-compatible version.

I want to bring some wavs that were recorded and edited with Cool Edit Pro into Pro Tools, but the time data doesn't get processed correctly by Pro Tools. Looks like the Cool Edit program timing data isn't interpreted properly by Pro Tools. Any ideas???

Pro tools free works really well on my IMAC with OS 8.6 except for the sound of the disk drives on the internal mike.

PRo tools fre will record one track on my G4 using an imic and OS 8.6, but trying to record additional tracks turns off the imic...there web conference page is not accepting new members so I can't post my questions there. If I could get the program to work properly I would be interested in paying for it but I think I don't dare invest anymoney in the software or their hardware at this point.

I just got ProTools on my iBook, and I love it so far, although there are still delay bugs to work out. When you say that you can "only record one track" on your iMac, it might be that you need to switch the input on the other tracks from Right (R) to Left (L). This is done on the main edit window, on each individual track. I'm not sure how it'll affect the final mix (like I said, I'm a newbie too) but thus far it's solved the problem.
