DDCLip is a nice alternative to ProTools.
ProTools is nice, but hard to get used to ,
and a bit too popular for my tastes. DDCLip and DDCLip Pro
can do the same kinds of things as ProTools. DDClip also
has a free version. And there is a crack available online
for their Pro version, but I can't tell you where.

DDClip has DirectX plug-in support and has it's own
awesome effects plug-ins. At 96kHz 32bits, this is a great
program that is more stable than ProTools on a PC.

dae error -228 running classic 9 on OSX

I installed Pro Tools Free on my powerbook G4 running OSX. I first switched to Classic 9 OS, then tried launching Pro Tools FREE. I get "DAE error -228 was encountered". Anyone seen this? My sound is set to "built-in audio controller". I have not yet installed my M-Audio quattro USB soundcard (not sure that has anything to do with it). Thanks in advance for any help!

scott. im having the same problems. i have the power g4 and pro tools wont run in classic. dae error 228. my audio is set to buildin too. if you found an answer to the problem, let me know.

The software won't work under Classic--you'll have to boot up under OS 9 and then it should work OK.

hey, i've been fooling around with protools and have noticed that every other new audio track that i create in a session will hardly pick up an input signal. is this the way it's supposed to be or no? i'd appreciate any help you could give me. thanks :)

I had the same problem. To solve it, go to the mixer window (with faders and such) and select the opposite input channel. Like mine only gets sufficient signal on the Left intput.

Go to file menu in pro tools and select bounce to disc,select bounce type stereo.This will create a stereo file wherever you chose on your drive. Import that into what ever cd burning programe you have and there you go.
