I have the same message.
There is no support on this apparently.
Perhaps it is a problem with hardware compatibility?
Perhaps it is a bug.
Perhaps it is actually a problem with DAE allocation ?
who knows

: I get a message saying DAE error-6008 was encountered and then programme shuts down. How do I overcome this problem? I am using an Imac DV Snow.

Import Session

How can I import a session into another existing PT session?

If I choose "Import Track" i only see some folders, all my *.pt Files are hidden. If I cancel the import i get an "Program Error"

distorting sound

When I press record on pro tools, It distorts the sound I'm recording. It's not my soundcard because when restart the computer, the signal I recorded is clear.

Yes, you can use the PRO TOOL programme itself to record audio. If you have a Mac, make sure your sound settings are set to 'built-in mic'. The instructions are downloadable as a PDF file.

DAE error -9019

check out midiman.com and other audio to usb inputs. If you plan to try and burn live, you may be able to with one(if they exist and please email me if you find one) if the external sound card/mixer has either usb 2.0 or preferably firewire and usb input/output(s)

External microphone?

DAE Error 25974

Ibook sound

I'm trying to use protools free on my clamshell ibook. All I've got for input is an imic which uses usb. I can get sound in using simplesound etc. but no success yet with protools - am I kidding myself? Please help me somebody.

You should be able to get sound in, Josh. The procedure is a little tricky though. First make sure you've downloaded and installed the iMic Control Panel software.

Then, once you are fully booted
up then attach the imic directly to the USB port of the computer (not
through a hub ). Open up the imic control panel and find the
words "input type" on the bottom of the panel and then select "analog input"
from the bottom left.
Unplug the imic for about 5 seconds and then plug it back in the computer.
Close the "imic control" and open up the "sound control panel" within Mac
OS9 and go to the "input tab". You should now have an option for "line in"
as USB audio instead of "external mic". Select it. Down below that are the
options for "play sound
through output device" and "check signal level". Choose them both. You now
have initiated play through. You only have to use the imic control panel
once but you must always set your audio prefs before you do a recording.

Thanks Mike - I appreciate the help but can't seem to download the right imic control panel - I got version 1.3 which doesn't seem to have the "analogue" select bit in it. Thanks anyway - I think it's time to go to the Mac shop.

Can you change the sample rate in PRO TOOLS free? I have AIFF files with 32KHz sample rate and PRO TOOLS default playback is 44.1KHz. Obviously, sounds about like the chipmunks...

Unfortunately no you cannot change the sampling rate in Protools Free. However, if you get a copy of SndSampler you can change the sampling rate without the quantization noise (or at least get very little of it).

%20 showing up in file name

I have a Web based system wich allows users to select audio file for listening based on a description. The file is accesed from the web page trough a link(e.g. http://E/IE-/IE-01/alligator adult alligator l0401.wav)
When the file is openned in ProTools or Media Player the space shows up as %20. This is quite anoying for the users if they want to save the file.
Any idea how to get rid of the %20 ?
All help is really appreciate it.

hi i saw your question,
the %20 thing;
that's beceause filenames over the internet don't allow spaces. on a mac these spaces are filled with %20. to avoid use underscore _ or - and no spaces in filenames.
