Software Description

Impulse Tracker is a revolutionary new music tracker under development in South Australia by Jeffrey Lim (Pulse/PoP). It is quite similar to the popular Scream Tracker by Future Crew, and is therefore quite easy to learn. Features:

There is no drive for the PCI128... although you may be able
to configure it for the AWE soundcard or the default SB16
you may have to use the command parameteres and set the
address ports and irq and stuff hopefully you will be able
to get it workin that way...

I only have 510 kb in my conventionnal memory and it's enough to run the program but not to listen and to create music... I already put some devices in my CONFIG.SYS like "device=himem.sys" but it doesn't work. I know there's a way to expand my DOS memory and would really like to know to finally create my dawned music... So if someone knows how to fix my problem, please reply to me!!!!! ( klonk@beer.com )

On your "device=himem.sys" line...Hit spacebar and type "H=255"...This should maximize your memory. If you've already done that then idunno...But your remline should read:

"device=himem.sys H=255"

Hi,

This may help although... in the newer versions of impulse it is not
needed as Jeff fixed this problem... what can be done thou is to make
a new shortcut on you desktop that directs to msdosprmpt.pif in the windows
directory and then change the shortcut properties
make sure that CLOSE ON EXIT is ticked then click on advanced
and tick Prevent MS dos............

Then in the MEMORY tab make sure you could try to set the XMS memory to 16384 as well as
MSDOS protected...... to 16384

Then in the screen make it FULL screen and take of DISPLAY TOOLBAR
then finally in MISC tab take off Allow screensaver

This should work fine....

Take out the EMS option in config.sys if you have it also... you wont
need it...

I updated my system recently, changing my old sb16 card for a sb64PCI, which I assumed to work better with all my music programs. I was surprised to find out that IT DOESN'T support my card! The card can emulate a sbPro, but it runs REEAALLYYY slow. Surprisingly enough the MikIT program, which I use to playback my mods, seems to work fine with my new card. Could somebody wiser please explain what is this all about? Do I have to buy a new sb16 to get back into tracking??!

Yes it is true it does not support the PCI128 or the 64PCI.....
although what you could try to do... is use the soundblaster AWE64 drivers that
mayhelp... you will have to try and run it in a DOS box thru windows
and you will have to use the IT command parameters to set it up properly

This of this even thou it is a newer version of the SoundBlaster you should be
able to use it to emulate the SB16 driver...

see how you go...

Yeah, IT doesn't support the SB64 (yet?).

I've got the same problem. I discovered that if you press CTRL + i (re-initialise sound card)
the sound is OK.
It's not the sound you were hoping to get when you bought the SB64 but it's good enough for not buying a new SB16 card.

IT drivers are specific to the soundcard, maybe not serial number :) but model or rev. even.
sb64PCI is a new card and according to drivers.txt unsupported :(

All I have to say is, if you enjoy using this product, register!
I have been using it for the past few years, and getting a registered copy was definitly worth it.
I'm amazed that such an inexpensive program and be used to create powerful music files.

IT is very compatible for me...so I send the money and register.

I don't know many soundcards supported on Be OS yet? Is there any developping for GGI API? I like IT
because it has intuitive interface, features, options and compability. IT works even on DRDOS, heh.
If someone is writing new trackers, why not a different approach for it?

libggi is under constant development, please download
sources and compile. It is ported from Linux to OpenBSD,
NetBSD, FreeBSD. Port it using GNU building tools.

I know of a program that can convert between any format...
the program is called... AWAVE i think v4.5 is the latest i dont know

Why dont you just make a bunch of wav files and just import them into
impulse to make your trax.. that way you can easily edit the wav files in any
editor for FX.

Wow, I've been looking for the same thing.
I haven't found anything yet, but try looking through some of those mass download sites.
I can write in about 80 formats, but not the one you want! *Grumble*

I cannot get my fast tracker working on this bloody P.C. The sounds stutter alot, I've got somebody with experience to have a look but no luck! I am using a Yamaha sound device which is soundblaster compatible, I'll do anything, and I mean anything, I used to use this package before and I got extremely good at it.

I try Fast Tracker 2.08 on MSDOS. It looks nice, mouse click
change menu or whatever but sound stops every time I start play
of any MOD, XM or S3M module. About 13 seconds into the song.

I'm using GUS. I also tried with AWE64 PnP 4M...any?

Impulse tracker 3 is at alpha stage it is not relased to the public yet
i know there are a few people beta testing it. but that is it. It will be
relased by a group called UNREAL... they are a good old demo group...

It will be windows based and so far the screen shots look amazing.. i just hope
that it works out to be just as good if not better than the current DOS version.

You will not be able to download it..... maybe not for a while... as they need sponsors
$$$$$$$ ..... the last i heard that they have a new sponsor so i dont know what is happening...
