Software Description

Impulse Tracker is a revolutionary new music tracker under development in South Australia by Jeffrey Lim (Pulse/PoP). It is quite similar to the popular Scream Tracker by Future Crew, and is therefore quite easy to learn. Features:

  • MOD, MTM, S3M and IT compatibility.

    • Sound Blaster AWE 32
    • Gravis UltraSound
    • Pro Audio Spectrum

    • DAC on LPT
  • Easy to-use, familiar Scream Tracker 3 style interface.
  • Direct control over 64 channels.
  • Maximum of 256 internal channels for greater sound quality, using NNAs (New Note Actions); Full panning (on SBPro, SB16 and GUS).
  • Stereo Surround (on SBPro and SB16).
  • Variable pattern lengths.
  • Full block functions available (across-channel also!)
  • Volume envelopes.
  • Ping Pong loops and sustain loops for samples.
  • Global volumes for channels and samples.
  • Templates.
  • Now with S3M saver, instrument I/O, and extra panning controls in the volume column!

I'm using win98 and have the same probl.
Can I put this line (DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE RAM) in my config.sys? or somewhere else and how???

: I think you ought to find a EMM386.exe emulator for WinME. I doubt whether ME still support EMM but anyhow you surely do need it. Without EMM IT won't have enough free memory. Try adding the following line after uploading Himem

The SBlive issue...

Allright, allright... In my last message, I asked around if anybody heard about an "official" Sblive.drv
Well..ofcourse it's very obvious that there isn't any!
The developing of IT has stopped, and we SBlive-users should skip to a more up-to-date program, such as BushTracker (spec. written for awe32/sblive!)
However, I'm at my best, most creative in IT.
So again...if there is no official driver, aren't there some programming junkies out there, smart enough and willing to WRITE such a driver?? I'm a very poor programmer, unfortunately...but there are really good coders out there right? Idea??

Oh and yes... I (and I guess a lot of other Sblive users too), *WOULD* pay for the driver..just as I PAID for the stereo .WAV writer.

After all, I would like to show my respect for/to everybody who makes cool, groovy, crispy beats and sounds with trackers, instead of skipping to MusicMaker2000 or other commercial crap, and to all the cool programmers who write such delicate pieces of software, and not even charging for it. Like Arguru, Jeffrey Lim, Martin Fay, the makers of BUZZ, R.Hoffmann..etc...

I'm still trying to figure a way to let IT control
the full resources of my SBLIVE-card. It's possible
to use the SBLIVE in SB16 (standard) mode, but heck..
Does anybody know how to make it use my sblive stuff,
for example MIDI-out and reverb??? I owned an AWE32,
and that card was supported...sounded great!

Please help me out, and i'll return you a favor!

Well, it works perfectly with my SBLive!... I think you should download the latest version (2.14 with patch #5) and use itvsound drivers (If you have Win95 of course)... Read the IT.TXT for more information.

Or of you have a IT free ware just go to dos and open the
IT by IT s20 then you select the file whit ctr+r
and f5 to play file but its not a stereo sample I am

YOu should enable legacy emulation under win 9x
or run sbinit.com in your sbpci directory under dos.

Independent (and amateur) musicians are able to
create COOL (i said COOL) trax.

I will say that IT is a definate inovator in independant music making.
My primary beef with the program is that once you get past the basics, doing simple things like triplets becomes a huge task in mathmatical computation.
After using the program for a little over a year, I'm now finding that the program and especially the interface can be very limiting.
It's starting to drive me up the wall! :>

- If you want to be able to do Hard disk recording...
you will have to load impulse with the ITWAV.DRV but this
will only record it in MONO.. if want to be able to record
it in stereo you will have to pay a small contribution fee
and it will be sent to you... not a bad price to pay
considering the potential of this program.....

This program is an ideal solution, when not having
enough money for bigger stuff. It´s very exiting,
making music only with some dry samples.
There can be some great effects and often i find
new tricks. It is just a special method of making
innovating soundstuff.
This music has its own sound babe!
Let the world be tracked!!!

This program is the solution...in expensive... and give
you raw analog sounds especially if you want to compose
techno music......
