I download music from napster and play it through goldwave 4.12. I have blade and winamp downloaded also. My question is that I need to create music files that are in the range of 300-900 kb. The only size file that I seem to create with goldwave is in the 30-40 mb range. How can I create music files that are in the 300-900 kb range?

You must be saving the files as: 16 Bit, 44'100Hz Stereo (CD Quality). If you want to reduce the files size, unfortunately you also have to reduce the files sound quality! For example an 8 Bit, 11025Hz mono (old radio quality) sample, would take up a hell of a lot less space, though it would also sound like a peice of shit!

and i have no idea what that means or how to do this...

My suggestion would be to encode your files into:

a) WMA files (using augdiograbber)

b) or VQF files (I think Yamaha makes a program for that)

I downloaded GoldWave and found it very easy to understand and use. The help facility is adequate, but certainly not extensive. It did help to read the FAQ first, which answered many of the problems reported on this message list. For $40, it probably can't be beat. The only thing missing is a scan or search feature that would find duplicate occurances of the selected range (like say, for instance, a portion of the chorus).

This folder sits in the windows directory and stores the existing presets aswell as any additions to the presets.

It's the experimental or even excellent sounding,
custom added, additional presets, I'm interested
in.
Perhaps a presets pool could be created at the homepage for users to contribute and so build up an extended presets library.
This could greatly enhace the program !!!!!
