[The body of this post has been reconstituted from replies so it may differ from what was originally written.]
I am looking for a program that I can paly a musical instrument into a microphone. The microphone is hooked up to the computer. The software takes the music being played and prints it onto a score sheet or sheet of music. I have Autoscore but it is not very good.

Record vinyl records onto CD-R media
[The body of this post has been reconstituted from replies so it may differ from what was originally written.]
Any pointers on how to record vinyl records onto CD-R media using a CDR/CDRW unit on a 333 MHz PC?
What software is best? What methods are recommended?
Re: Record vinyl records onto CD-R media
I have purchased a turntable with built in pre-amp but when I connect this through the line in at the back of My PC, I cannot hear any sound.
I can only hear the sound once I have managed to record it to my HD, the software I'm using is magix Audio Cleaning Lab.
Do you have any advice on how I can hear the sound when recording?
: : Any pointers on how to record vinyl records onto CD-R media using a CDR/CDRW unit on a 333 MHz PC?
: : What software is best? What methods are recommended?
: I'm a DJ and I am putting my cassettes and vinyl on CD-R. I have cables from Radio Shack (1/8" and RCA connectors) from back of stereo to back of computer going into the input jack of the sound card.
: I am then using Opti Media Rack to record them to WAV form. Then using Nero (a shareware program) to burn the wav files to cd-r.
: Should work for you. I also have my computer hooked to stereo to listen to what I have recorded or listen to RealAudio.
: Good Luck

I tried the Ultimate Encoder and it does not convert from MP3 to CDA.
Re: MP3 to CDA
[The body of this post has been reconstituted from replies so it may differ from what was originally written.]
Actually if you want to put your mp3's on cd's you have to get a decoder. The decoder i use is called MP3 To Wav Batch Decoder, which can be found at:
mp3 to converter
http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Campus/9323/soft.html
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This converts MP3's to huge WAV files which you can put on an audio cd.
If you want to put these tracks on a cd you need to have a CD Creator proram. Well that's all I know!!!
Mobile DJ needs to record cd tracks into laptop
[The body of this post has been reconstituted from replies so it may differ from what was originally written.]
Hi!
I'm a mobile DJ. I have many CD's that I use only 1 or 2 tracks once in a while. I would like to record them into my laptop and play them from there. What is the best way to do that and maintain quality without using gigs of space? What would a good software backage be?
Please e-mail me.

Re: Mobile DJ needs to record cd tracks into laptop
: Hi!
:I am also a mobile dj and in exactly the same situation as yourself I wondered whether you would mind forwarding any of the ideas which have been suggested to you, to save breaking your back and compressing shock absorbers by the dozen through lugging round cases upon cases of past hits and one hit wonders. Those musical delights that you never play but you have to have because your bound to meet that awkward punter who revels from identifing tracks which he is certain that are not the gems of your collection!!! Look forward to hearing from you Dave Mac...

The best thing to do would be to convert your CD tracks
to MP3 files and then play them with a program like
<a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/ARIES_MP3_Manager/">Aries MP3 Manager</a>.
You can get programs like <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/MP3ENC_win95/">MP3 Encoder</a> to do batch convertsions
and a program like <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Audiograbber/">Audiograbber</a> which can automatically make
a digital copy of the CD tracks and feed them into the
MP3 encoder.
At full CD quality the average song will use 4 to 5 MB of
storage space - and less if you use a higher compression
ratio.
Re: Mobile DJ needs to record cd tracks into laptop
: : Hi!
Hi Mike,
I have a lots of fun DJing(lol) from my laptop that currently has about 800 different music. I use Microsoft Media Player 7.0 to create music libraries and there is also a CD Audio section that allows you copy songs from your cds. You can also directly burn to a burner attached to you laptop.
Hope this help.
