Software Description

Awave Studio is a multi-purpose audio tool that reads 300 audio file formats from different platforms, synthesizers, trackers, mobile phones, ... - It can be used in a variety of ways - as a file format converter, as an audio editor, or as a synth instrument editor. Features include conversion, creation, editing, and emulation of synthesizer instruments, MIDI SDS and SCSI SMDI transfers, reading of non-Windows compatible AKAI, Kurzweil and Roland CD-ROM's and floppy disks, conversion of mobile phone ring signals, CD-ripping, simple MIDI editing, song playback, batch conversion, and sound recording. You can do this in Winamp. I have tried alot of different convertors and this is the easiest way!

winamp has a built-in converter. go to preferences, output, and pick the second one from the top, i think it's called diskwriter. any song you play will be converted into a wav

This operation requires that you have already opened an archive. You must perform four simple steps:

Select the file(s) to delete by selecting them in the content list
Select Delete from the Edit menu or simply press the Del button on the keyboard. This will display the Delete files window.
Choose if you want to delete the selected files, all files (the entire archive) or enter a filename or filespec to delete.
Click the Delete button.
This will delete the files from the archive, or delete the archive itself. If the archive is deleted, it is actually moved to the Recycle Bin.

*.CDA is a cd audio format and can only be created by burning .WAV or MPEG-3. to a disk
there are however freeware programs which will convert *.cda CD audio to wav or mp3.

.CDA 'files' are just a sort of 'dummy file'
produces by the Windows audio-CD file system.
What you need is a CD-authoring software that
can create audio-CD. Most CDR writers are sold
together with such software. They usually accept
a .WAV file (44.1kHz, sterep, 16bits) as inout
for each audio track.
You can use Awave Studio to convert from MP3
to WAV.

Conversion between soundfont and samplecell II

Does anyone know of a utility that will convert soundfont files to samplecell II on a PC? Awave only does part of the job. It doesn't support envelopes or LFOs on the samplecell. Does anyone know of a program that will do the whole job?

Playing .au files with applets

I downloaded audio magic ring a few days ago. I wanted it to convert my wave files into .au files and so play them using a applet.
I use the Java Development Toolkit and my applet will play the .au files supplied with this toolkit; but when trying to play .au files converted with audio magic ring I get an error message 'invalid file type'.
Could anyone say anything about this and also perhaps recommend a freeware .wav to .au converter?
