DirectDraw Error

I am having a problem getting Might and Magic 7 to work on my computer. When press play the 3DO comes up and then it stops and an error comes up. It says DDerr_Unsupported in Drive M:.

Can anybody help me out?

I had this on win2k, what version of DirectX are you using?
If you load the win2k cd and click install, then update, it will install a new version of win2k, without buggering your registry or programs, but installing directx 7 instead of 8

I don't know how to fix this problem, i downloaded DirectX 6.0 and it didn't work.

My solution

This was my solution, may not work for you.
Directdraw errors are related to your video car/monitor correlation. I reinstalled both my video card (TNT) and monitor (Viewsonic) by using Device Manager, removing them from system, then restarting and letting windows detect. Then had to upgrade the drivers again. I eventually got them working again with directdraw. Still have no idea what caused them to go out of whack in first place.
You might want to run the "dxdiag.exe" program that checks your direct x setup (use find files to locate it if u don't know where it is, mine is in my windows system file.

I installed mixman studio and tryed to run the
program and it came up with error installizing
direct draw. I downloaded directx7 and installed
that but still it comes up with the same message.
Im not sure what else to do is there anything you
can help me with?

Have the same error. I had DirectX 8.0. reverted back to 6.1 and no luck. DXDIAG reports all to be ok and passes all tests. Reloaded sound and video drivers and had no luck either. Using a Voodoo 3 2000 video card and sound blaster live sound card. really doubt that it has anything to do with the sound card, but you never know.

I'll scratch my head some more about it. If anyone fingers this one out shoot me an email. I'll keep looking and thinking some more and write another post if I come up with it.

I had the same problem with one of the first versions of mixman.....if you megs counts is less than 32mb forget mixman running smoothly...if it runs at all..

ok... your error is simple... you have to download directx. you can probably get it from microsoft.com

You all need to set your graphics display settings to 356 colors before you use mixman studio. this will make everything work allright...
