Software Description

Patch editor for Turtle Beach Pinnacle and AVM Apex MA-1 Synthesizer.

Imports .pbf, .krz and .sf2 files. Drum Kit Wizard. Modulator Editing.

If it will not start because it can not find a library (MSVCP50.DLL or OLEAUT32.DLL), download one or both of them from here: MSVCP50.DLL and OLEAUT32.DLL. Most people will not need them if they have installed MS software recently (i.e. IE4).

Soundfont Database

I have tons of soundfonts on CDs but do not now what I have. So whenever I get any assignment, I waste creative time to look for the sounds that I need on my CDs.

The question is: How should I organise myself so that all the sounds are not only documented like a database (like I have already started doing so on Excel) but I am also able to audition them on the fly - means from the database. Doing this for wave samples is not a problem because a hyperlink would be sufficient to audition wave files. The problem comes when I need to audition a particular preset in a particular soundfont bank (sf2) and all the hyperlink does is to open up either Vienna or Soundfont Librarian and open up the particular sf2. Then again I have to so the tedious task of searching for all those names and again audition them from within Vienna. Is there a one-step way to do all this - i.e. on the fly auditioning of presets?

I shall be grateful for help provided.

Well a resonable program that is very promissing is Creative's "Vienna Sound Font Studio."
It might take a while to learn, so I advise reading the help section in the program.

How much RAM do you recommend I put into my Pinnacle?

Sound Format conversion

I'd like to buy voice collection from Spectrasonic but I am afraid only K2000/K2500, SampleCell, Roland and Akai(Emu/ASR)are available. What is the best source format for conversion to .EMB or PBF and what sofware should I use ? Will I get the some quality as the source ? (I use Pinnacle together with Everest and Cubase)

If you upgraded your win98 from win95 using the windws 95 upgrade CD,
to make your system able to restart again, boot the command prompt only,
insert the windows 98 upgrade CD and re-run the setup again.
This won't delete your installed programs, and you'll be able to boot again.

In order to install Office 2000 without getting the internal error 2355 and
getting a corrupted system, check first this support page from Microsoft:

Yes, i've tried installing Office 2000 on a dell Inspiron 3500... same issues. I have to re-image the laptop.

I've been getting the same error when trying to install publisher off the office 2000 premium CD and of course, you can't get support from MS on anything they develop. They charge us $600 and then leave us with no support ... Gates doesn't "beleive in" 800 #s for customers ... he wouldn't make enough money off us if he used them.
God knows MS just barely has enough capital for new development ... owners aren't making a fair living for sure... :-3|

Ive been getting the same problem and still have not solved it but microsoft say that if you install the new version of windows installer then it should work if not then try restarting in safe mode and then installing the program

if it doesnt work then your in the same situation as me if anyone finds a way out of it please email telling me how you did it

win98/apex/everest problem

in win 95,i had my sound/midi setup fine-
my pocket flyer midi interface on irq7/lpt1
my apex on 5...wavetable on 11...mpu401 on 9
video card on 12-now,after win98 install,irq 12 has dissapeared
from my rescources,and the vid card is using irq 11-
the mpu401 is also on 11,and the wavetable is on 9,and apex on 5.
here is the fun part-if i have the mpu401 on irq9,it works fine,but
everest wont find the MA1 chip-if i put wavetable on irq9,everest works fine,but no mpu401-
and wtf happened to irq 12??does windows hog it?
any help would be nice...:-)

I'm having the same problem with Everest 1.4A -- "no reply from synth" anytime I make any edits. I've never had a problem with Everest before, so I doubt it's my system, but rather a bug in this version. I haven't written anything until now because usually Mark is faster about correcting any bugs than I am writing to him about them. But it's been about three months now and I beginning to get worried. Is Mark still out there? I'd truely hate to see that the one person(and program) that keeps me excited about owning the Apex would just disappear. Yikes! That would be awful!

Anyway, I sure he's busy so I'll just keep checking the news at his web site for another few months (until I give up all hope altogether) ; )

Anyone want to exchange EMB patches. I've got some really cool and hi-tech ones that I've created. I'd love to share them and hear some of what other people are doing.
