Matshita cw-7586 Please HELP

Hi, I just bought a CW 7586 drive and I'm havin a hell of a lot of problems with it. I just can't figure out what isn't right actually, but the fact is that none of the data CD's (mainly applications, program setups...)that I've burnt can be said to be 100 % "safe working"....I should get some sort of error message (either corrupted or unreadable data, or that my CD-Rom simply doesn't recognise the burnt CD) while I setup a program from my burnt CD. Till now I have already burnt around 50 CDs and I've noticed that only the VCD's and mp3 CD's I've burnt were O.k, while large setups (with compressed CAB/Zip...files of >100 Mb) were very much prone to errors on the burnt CD. I use either Nero 5.5.0.3 or Adaptec 4.0 (the app. I got with the CD writer ) to "burn" my CD's (if not to say "damage"....).

Please, if anyone could help me on this issue, I would greatly appreciate it.

(I had thought of the Matshita CD writer as a cheaper alternative to a more expensive HP writer of the same speed....

My problem was that my cw-7585 was recognised only as a cdrom drive not as a burner.I was using adaptec and it kept saying "no supported cd recorders were detected", i thought i needed a new driver like alot of the other messages but its not that at all.. any one whos using adaptec, thats your problem, u need to download a file called floppy107.exe from www.roxio.com after installing this adaptec will recognise your burner. This problem occurs when you have to reinstall adaptec, for example when you format your hard drive. Hope this helps. What you have to do is install the Easy CD Creator 5.0 Platinum, to the following website and download the two updates.

I have installed the easy cd creator platinum and all the updates and it still!! doesn't work with Matshita CW-7586 Help!!!

This may help many of you with the burning problems with the burner;

(win 2000)

Go to Control Panel, Device manager.
select IDE ATA controller icon
open up which ever IDE channel your burner is set to. Click on the Advnaced settings tab. If its set to PIO, change it to DMA to both Device 0 and 1. This will clear up all your problems!

if you are using win 9x, it might be a bit different but just find your way to the IDE settings in the systems menu and the rest should be the same. Hope this helps. It did for me but it costed me about $40 to figure this out.

Doesn't exist I'm afraid, Panasonic lists it as having native XP support and doesn't provide a seperate driver for it. I've gone so far as to check the Japanese driver pages too and again it lists it as being automatically supported and provides no driver. Sorry having the same problem.

I have this burner. it use to work fine, until i formatted my hard drive, then when ever i tryed to burn anything, i ended up with buffer underuns. Is this because i didn't reinstall the adaptec software that came with it? (i didn't like it, so i didn't bother installing it the next time around.) If anyone knows the answer to this, can they please get back to me?

Je suis dans le domaine des communacations multimedia. Je realises des dessins animes, des images de syntheses et pour tout cela j ai besoin de pouvoir stocker mes iformations sur un disque tres grand puisque mes realisations necessite beaucoup de place. Mais malheuresement depuis un petit moment que j ai achete ce celebre CR-Rw, ce matshita, je ne sais pas trop ce qui lui arrive.
J ai pense que c est peut etre le driver que j ai perdu mais malheureusement aucune maniere de le retrouver. Cela m embette vraiment ca mon disc dur est plein a craque.
