Software to remove voices

I'm looking for software that will remove voices, mainly vocals from sampled music. Either a wave editor that will do it, or a CD player that has something like a karaoke function on a normal stereo system (i.e. reduced the volume of the vocals). Any suggestions?

Analogx has a decent freeware vocal remover!
of course it depends almost entirely on the
recording you are trying to de-voice
but it usaully removes SOMETHING...
its fun...

its pretty easy if you have the right stuff.just find a prog called goldwave u can get a demo somewhere.find it yourself dont ask me where just search for it.anyway you just click remove vocals and it does all the work.

It is almost impossible to remove vocals from
already mixed music... Vocals are wide spread
around frequency spectrum and if you remove these
freqs, you will remove lot of other instruments
definitions.....
You can try to use EQ around 1kHz but it will
never completely remove vocals, just reduce them
and get them quieter.
There are some frequency analysis programs, but
no one is capable to completely remove vocals.

As most songs have the lead vocals placed centrally
in the audio image, and the instruments panned partially
left and right, you can do a reasonable job of
removing the vocals by subtracting
the portion of the signal that is in
phase between the left and right channels. Of course
there will be some residual signal due to chorus
effects and reverb that the vocals have been
processed with.

There is
software around to do this, if you find it by now
please let me know! ta

hi i got my psr530 3 years ago from direct keyboards payed £419 + large power pack it is the best thing i have ever bought plays perfect i am trying to use it on my advent computer i have got the lead from direct key boards but as of now i can not get the two to talk to one another i am using the host port and com 2 on pc as i says in the manual i hope to make midi files my self as marks out of 100 i would give it 100 it is first class it has taken me about 2 years to learn to play it as i had no help i can now read music not bad for 47 still learning nothing bad to say about yamaha psr 530 so glad i found this page so i am not on my own thanks

TOTALLY AWESOME!! i love my psr530
and i am proud to own it!!!!
its the only keyboard i use!!
however!!!!!!!!
you may try the psr-540....
it gots a 16track sequencer
instead of 4+1track
and a FUCKIN DISK DRIVE!!! (i bought the 530
about 3 weeks before it came out... for the SAME PRICE!!! AARGH)
but after checking it out.... the psr530 has WAY better speakers.... and two R+L outputs instead of
the 540's ONE!! hahahhaa
and also the 530 has a sustain PEDAL... whereas
the 540 only has a sustain toggle BUTTON ... that is shit!!!
i dont know about MIDI yet
i just bought my first set of connection cables today!! (need help!)

also (sorry so long) CASIO just came out with
a new portable keyboard ... model WK1800
in the $450-$500 range....
it looks great!!! check it out
-3'5 disk drive

The PSR-530's synthesis engine is wonderful for what you pay for it. The drums are extensive and the synths are imaginative. I've used it in my studio for years now, but it has a few drawbacks that keep it short of "professional":

THE VOLUME KNOB. oh man, for some reason this keyboard's volume knob goes bad and crackly after about 2 years of use. Tis a shame.

THE LINE OUTS. I've been getting conductivity issues with the line outs from the PSR. Sometimes a channel will crackle and go out, and I'd have to twist the jack a lil to get contact again. Spray works for a while but then it goes bad again. I also get more hum&noise than I would with a $1000+ synth.

THE ACCURACY. This is no big deal unless you're making hardcore-pro recordings, but the audio output on the PSR-530 seems a tad muddy, as if the EQ wasn't quite right on it. With my mixer, I do a 3Db drop on the 80Hz- bass and a whopping 6-10Db boost on the 12+KhZ range to finally get a nice transparent presense from it. Of course, the aforementioned line noise raises a few issues with that.

All in all, it's a true workhorse and if you're going on the road with a budget, this is the board for you. However, if you've got a collection of KORG Tritons and sleep on a Yamaha MOTIF for a pillow, this synth isn't going to do anything new for you.

YES,I THINK THE PSR-530 IS ONE OF THE BEST KEYBOARDS OUT.ITS SOUND QUALITY AND BANKS OF SOUNDS ARE COMPARARABLE TO SOME OF THE TOP KEYBOARDS ON THE MARKET (RANGING IN PRICE FROM $1,500-$2,500).
I PLAYED ONE IN THE MUSIC STORE FOR ABOUT AN HOUR BEFORE PURCHASING IT.I THINK THE 530 WAS RECENTLY DISCONTINUED AND REPLACED WITH THE PSR-540,AND ALTHOUGH THE 540 HAS SOME UPDATED FEATURES,IT LACKS THE SLEEK DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF THE 530.IF YOU CAN STILL FIND ONE,GET ONE.

I Am the proud owner of a PSR 530 keyboard I must say its a great piece of equipment. The sound Quality is excelent rivaling most of top brand synths on the market. on the down side the built in sequencer needs more Memory tracks to be a stand alone workstation for original creations. Over all I give a plus to YAMAHA for this creation. I also have a Casio CTK 611 which canot compare.

I'd like to talk to people (perhaps in the Los Angeles area) who are pianists, and can tell me about learing to use an electronic keyboard with a computer, what user friendly software I should purchase, and maybe can also teach me to use that software. I'm a long-time piano player with low to moderate computer knowledge. I do use it at work for work processing, data bases, etc., but I know nothing about music software, and am concerned about it being too hard to learn. I would greatly appreciate any help anyone can give me.
