Software Description

Quartz AudioMaster Freeware is a powerful though easy-to-use multitrack recorder and MIDI sequencer running under Windows 95/98/NT/2000 and the best way to try the Quartz Audio Family software concept for FREE (fully working - no limitation at all - it's not a trial version).

It is intended for people who want to record, compose, mix, play and share music using a computer and a sound card.

It features 4 stereo audio tracks, 16 MIDI tracks, effect plug-ins, per-track EQ, Aux buses, Video sync, Score, GM/GS/XG and "Piano roll" editors and all the functionalities required to easily share musical projects across the internet up to its multitrack compressed file format.

More audio tracks?

Hey I've used the freeware before and tried the Pro version too - I'm downloading it again...I wanted to know whether there's some way I can break the 4 stereo aoudio tracks to 8 mono, and then pan them independently? That'd a GREAT help...developers from DSP, are you hearing??? Please increase the track at least to 6 or 8 - it will be HIGHLY appreciated by teens like me who just don't have enough $$$ to spend :-(

this is the best free multitrack i've ever used. it runs more smoothly than software you have to purchase. seriously. i don't work for quartz, i swear.

As far as I'm concerned it sh1ts all over PowerTracks and Anvil Studio.

What noone else has mentions is how FANTASTIC the documentation & Help is.

I have to agree. After I downloaded Pro Tools free, I realized I needed more horsepower in order to really use it. So I came back to Hitsquad and found Quartz. While it's not PTFree, it's the best I've found so far for my not-so-hot PC. It's very stable and has a relatively short learning curve (don't forget to download the PDF manual.)

There are many great programs for composing and arranging. Check out products from CODA (Finale-several demos from them under music notation on the Hitsquad site) and from Voyetra Turtle Beach (also on this site). They offer music notation, transcribing, MIDI, lyric ties, etc. It depends on how much you want to spend. Figure anywhere from $59 US to $400 US. The best composition, notation, and arranging software does not have multitrack recording features, but that is not what the programs are really about. You can always use these great programs and write a separate MIDI for each staff in your score and import them into multrack recording software.

An excellent tool for songwriters who only need four audio tracks. and 16 midi tracks. I found it very easy to use. The sound effect presets sounded great. Fantastic free software
