Good Choice King

That's what I am using now. And for Windows I haven't found a better priced program out there.

pro-tools

I think I will stick with Cakewalk after reading all these inputs

pro tools

I think afetr reading all this stuff, I will stick with Cakewalk.

Here's A Tip

If you use windows don't download. I have tried alot of these Apple music programs. These programs are first designed for a Mac, and then they try to target Windows. Take it from me, it doesn't work. I call it a Mac in a Window program, because that's exactly what it looks like. Further more these programs run fine on a Mac but are very buggy in the Windows. Just look at all the complaints below my post.

Pro Tools Really Suck!

I'm sorry for being so direct but this has got to be one of the worst suite of audio/midi tools I have seen. Start with the interface, if I squint my eyes any more, I'm going to look like a china man. I also didn't see any support for sound fonts either. Maybe the mac programmers should stick with a mac and leave Windows programming alone. One more thing the demo only includes wav files. Are we supposed to sample 4 beat measures and then, puff we have a song. Get real, write a real song with your own notes.

Re: Pro Tools Really Suck!

Your going to look like a china man ? Did you really say that?

Missing DLLs?

Downloaded and installed without a problem.. but when I try to run it, I get "Error Starting Program - cannot find C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Imagehlp.dll" or something like that. I would also assume there are other missing DLLs as well. I tried downloading and installing the latest DirectX in case that makes a difference, but no luck. Anybody know how to help?

Re: Missing DLLs?

I found your message when I had the same problem and after a year I hope you have solved it. But for anyone else that comes across the same error - Insert your Microsoft Office installation CD and select "repair". After rebooting the message disappears. Hope this helps someone out there.

Graeme, u don't want to hear MY ideas about "Real ANYTHING" :)
IF u r running Win 9x, try this:

Refresh the Multimedia Drivers.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Your new games or other graphics-intensive programs may have installed their own set of audio drivers with the result that the game will run perfectly, but everything else is scrambled. It is fairly easy to correct this kind of problem, a good thing since dedicated gamers have to become expert at applying this correction: Here is the method:
Click Start| Settings| Control Panel| System and click the Device Manager tab to the front.
Click the [+] beside the Sound, Video and Game Controllers category and, one at a time, highlight each element and click the [Remove] button at the bottom of the window. The idea is to make the whole category disappear.
If you have an Other Devices Category, open that one as well and remove all multimedia devices you find there.
Do not restart the system when prompted. Close System Properties and return to the Control Panel. Now, remove the Multimedia options from Windows Setup. Here is the method for doing that:
Open the Add/Remove Programs icon.
Click the Windows Setup tab to the front and remove the check from the Multimedia option. Click [Apply].
NOW you can restart the system.
Whatever sound card drivers are currently installed will be reloaded when Windows comes back up.
****If you are prompted to keep a newer version of a file, click NO TO ALL. The file is probably newer because it has been newly corrupted; you want the older version back. ****
When the system returns to a normal desktop, go back to the Windows Setup and put a check back in the Multimedia option. Click the [Details] box.
Be sure that the Media Player and CD Audio options are checked.
Click [Apply] and restart the system once more.
This method corrects most kinds of sound driver corruption, but it does not correct the most severe corruption nor does it solve problems caused by Microsoft DirectX.
Hey I found this problem with Musicmatch 6 and tried the suggested solution with the problem recurring but I recalled the on some of my little ones educational games one had to go into controlpanel/multimedia/ and select a different playback device and for midi.I tried it for musicmatch and that fixed the problem immediately.
Re: Music match juke box .....mixer.DLL
If you can't start MusicMatch because of this mixer.dll error, send me an email and I'll send you the correct .dll to install in your MusicMatch directory. This will fix your problem.
: : Your new games or other graphics-intensive programs may have installed their own set of audio drivers with the result that the game will run perfectly, but everything else is scrambled. It is fairly easy to correct this kind of problem, a good thing since dedicated gamers have to become expert at applying this correction: Here is the method:
: : Click Start| Settings| Control Panel| System and click the Device Manager tab to the front.
: : Click the [+] beside the Sound, Video and Game Controllers category and, one at a time, highlight each element and click the [Remove] button at the bottom of the window. The idea is to make the whole category disappear.
: : If you have an Other Devices Category, open that one as well and remove all multimedia devices you find there.
: : Do not restart the system when prompted. Close System Properties and return to the Control Panel. Now, remove the Multimedia options from Windows Setup. Here is the method for doing that:
: : Open the Add/Remove Programs icon.
: : Click the Windows Setup tab to the front and remove the check from the Multimedia option. Click [Apply].
: : NOW you can restart the system.
: : Whatever sound card drivers are currently installed will be reloaded when Windows comes back up.
: : ****If you are prompted to keep a newer version of a file, click NO TO ALL. The file is probably newer because it has been newly corrupted; you want the older version back. ****
: : When the system returns to a normal desktop, go back to the Windows Setup and put a check back in the Multimedia option. Click the [Details] box.
: : Be sure that the Media Player and CD Audio options are checked.
: : Click [Apply] and restart the system once more.
: : This method corrects most kinds of sound driver corruption, but it does not correct the most severe corruption nor does it solve problems caused by Microsoft DirectX.
