Software Description
MED Soundstudio is a Stereo Tracker/MIDI Sequencer for sound editing, a massive number of Real time Effects, with VSTi - EFX and now also offering ASIO support and includes the popular Highlife sampler.
Other than a quality soundcard, MED requires no other additional hardware, (although it can be used to control MIDI/sequencing)
Once you become familiar with the myriad of features within MED you will be surprised to learn how flexible the program is.
You can select to save your compositions out as either an MMD (MOD) file for loading into MED itself or a MIDI file and for those contacts who do not use MED, they can simply play back your MED MMD file via one of the many standalone music players, or you can choose to save your music as a standalone self-executing file which only requires the user to click on that saved executable file to hear your work.
With a CD burner you can save your files in the .WAV format ready to burn directly to a CD, or using the plugin addition, select to save in the popular MP3 encoded format so you can upload your work to one of the many social web sites for others to play.
Full instructions are provided including how to use the new VST/EFX/Highlife sampling.
Unlike other similar progs, the low registration price includes VST etc, (no more to pay for these extras)
Re: not good enough
: : : ive used versions of med octamed 2/3/4/5/soundstudio on the amiga and they all sound better than the pc version
: : Unforunate side effect of the Windows
: : architecture (*ain't that the truth?!*), the next Win V2 is going to be better and the new BeOS version "flies"
: Then how come other people have written trackers in the past on the PC which ran very well on a 486 ????
Maybe Teijo only has any good experiences with the blessed Amiga. Also, win95 was not generally available when 486s were about.

Granted that he might have experience only with the amiga, but isn't Win9x + supposed to be better than Win3.1 for virtually everything. I know this is not true, but programmers can only work with what they're given, and it seems poor Ray had the option of 32bit Windows or 32bit Windows. So credit where credits due, the program is not at fault, Windows and the whole PC architecture is!

I can't stand these Cubase snobs, although I do have the program.
Re: Octamed rules !!!!!
I used OctaMed 4, 6 & SS for years and it was the best, its just a pity the PC trackers didnt take the best parts of it for the new generation of trackers.....the pc version of OctaMed should have all the bells & whistles of the "FruityLoops" of today.......

Oh My Memories
Heh, when i was 14 (8 years ago), i used octamed to create little tunes on my Amiga. My mates thought they were brilliant although i had little musical talent....
Recently I was asked to create some tunes for someone, and i instinctivly remembered octamed, and wondered if that was still going and maybe ported over to an i386 format.... can I buy a PC version?
Cheers, Tony

the prelude sound card wich you can find on amiga sites or magazines, offers an additional
4x16bit all frequency channels which are independant of the amigas hardware. the cheaper way is to alter the distorted sound using filters
on an effects studio then boost hi or low frequencies until you get the required sound back...
Re: Octamed rules !!!!!
I have recently purchased an octaMED Pro v4, but unfortunately, it hasn't got the user manual with it!!
Could anyone please help and tell me where I could get one from...
Thanks

Re:a simple question about med
I'm a new user at octomed and can not understand how to open or create an instrument. Do I have to download from smwh or what can I do with this
glad if you help
Thanks
Re:a simple question about med
Hi !
To use the instruments (Samples) you need at first .WAV - Samples ! You can sample them on your own or you can get them in the net !
After that you can use the Instruments for your MODs !
P.S. : Please send me a serial no. for OCTAMED 1.0 or 1.1 !!!!! Thank u so MUCH !!!! :-)

What about adding a GOOD synth sound interface
with multiple oscillators, filters and effects?

Octamed is the best!!
Although I used octamed only on my AMIGA , I can't wait to see how good the PC version is.... If it's as good as the amiga version i think this will be the best of all trackers on the scene

We'll see. As with most PC conversions of software (adobe photoshop a prime example) the result is never as good as the original. But since Teijo is actually working on the PC version, let's hope he still has some magic tricks up his sleeves.
