Software Description
MED Soundstudio is a Stereo Tracker/MIDI Sequencer for sound editing, a massive number of Real time Effects, with VSTi - EFX and now also offering ASIO support and includes the popular Highlife sampler.
Other than a quality soundcard, MED requires no other additional hardware, (although it can be used to control MIDI/sequencing)
Once you become familiar with the myriad of features within MED you will be surprised to learn how flexible the program is.
You can select to save your compositions out as either an MMD (MOD) file for loading into MED itself or a MIDI file and for those contacts who do not use MED, they can simply play back your MED MMD file via one of the many standalone music players, or you can choose to save your music as a standalone self-executing file which only requires the user to click on that saved executable file to hear your work.
With a CD burner you can save your files in the .WAV format ready to burn directly to a CD, or using the plugin addition, select to save in the popular MP3 encoded format so you can upload your work to one of the many social web sites for others to play.
Full instructions are provided including how to use the new VST/EFX/Highlife sampling.
Unlike other similar progs, the low registration price includes VST etc, (no more to pay for these extras)
Midi support questions...
I have several questions (which I mailed to their support site) which were never answered to my satisfaction, I was hoping someone who used this prog could tell me :
Can I control multiple midi devices on different outputs at once, while still using sampled instrument tracks?
A user here mentioned having an 8x8 midi card, I have a similar setup. I checked out the demo and it says (current midi device) in setup.. Does this mean you can only use one midi out at once?
I'd like to use this to control ALL my midi devices, but I'd like to be able to use them all at once.
For instance a workstation on midi out 1 while also
playing stuff from a groovebox on midi out 2 while playing stuff from a synthesizer on midi out 3 while
midi out 4 is controlling my drumbrain?
Remember I also want sampled instruments playing at the same time...? If it can do this, I'm sold, but I don't wanna pay money for one midi out, because that would be useless to me... HELP?
If 1.4 dosn't do this, will 2.0 do this? When will it be released?

MIDI BUG!!
Octamed has a bug in it's Midi capabilities. I have reported this to RBF Software at least two times, but never got any respons. The problem is that if you use several channels, and the first line of a block has a lot of notes each containing some command that controls the voice, then Octamed slows down for some microseconds!! It's very annoying. I am a looong time Octamed user and this bug has been present from the Amiga age to this day. It's still in the v1.4 version! On the Amiga I always used free versions that came with Amiga mags. I want to use Octamed on the PC, and I've tried all the trial versions now, but I dont want to bye the program if the bug is there!! I tried the same thing with Cubase at a studio in my home town and no problems! Please fix this problem!! It's really a baaaad bug and midi music cant be made professionally until it's fixed!! I have three different synthesizers hooked up to my computer and I have a USB MIDISPORT 8x8 midi connector. But the hardware makes no difference, the same problem was present in the Amiga version.

We are concentrating on the new Windows V2 and have every intention of fixing many shortcomings in the MIDI side.
We think you will be pleased with V2.
(release of V2 will be announced on the web sites and in the MED mailing lists first)

i hope....
i hope that the p.c. version has the same synth tool as the old amiga version. Some of the weird sounds you could create were cool.
Midi in Soundstudio..
Is it just me or is the midi function in Octamed Soundstudio faster on the PC than on the Amiga??
My case is that I wrote a whole lot of meds on my Amiga and when I tried to play them with
Octamed Soundstudio the samples where lacking quite a lot.. Help!!

Help! I have a host of songs I wrote on Octamed v3, using a MIDI adapter and a keyboard. Surely, by now, it's possible for a piece of software to play these using the MIDI instruments on my soundcard?

I have been using OctaMED v4 for years, I never knew that there was a version for PC. I`m still using my A600 for making music, but I just don't have the samples and can't get them. I've tried converting a PC *.wav file into an Amiga file like *.raw/*.snd and so forth. But now I can use it on the PC. Thanks-a-lot Man!! Music writing would just not be the same with-out OctaMED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Octamed Tutorial?
Is there some tutorial online for Octamed (PC version)? I'm used to the controls of Fast Tracker 2 but want some more functionality, so I'm testdriving the demo. Also, how does it handle midi CC messages? Can I make smooth transitions with eg. filter cutoff on my synths with this tracker grid style interface?

Ive been hunting this package down for bleedin' months now and still no bastard seems to have a decent PC copy. How is a guy s'posed to make a living if he can't make music with the software he's used to using?

I use V 4.0 still on my A-500+ with a midi keyboard attached. Some of the stuff done in the URL gave was done on it.
OctaMED vs Cubase
I've only seen Octamed running as a demo. It looks like it could be better. Can someone tell me more about the Amiga version. I need a new sequencer for when I start recording next year.

I can tell you only the bestabout SoundStudio on Amiga.
OCSS combinate the classic tracker and MIDI sequencer.
On Amiga you can play together MIDI sound and Amiga samles.
If you can take the full version, look at:

OCSS v1.03 from this site.

I need some help
Calling all octamed know-it-alls,
My CU-Amiga release version of Soundstudio is no longer working.
I've recently accidentally formatted my workbench partition and now Soundstudio causes a guru when I go to load anything. Am i missing any essential system files?
P.s. Soundstudio is GREAT! Roll on V2!

My friend and I have been long-time users of octamed on the Amiga (about 10 years!!). We finally bought a pc, and are currently toying around with demo version.
All I can say is, I can't wait for the full version to arrive. Its going to be just the thing we needed to bring our 'sounds' screaming up to date!!!!!!!

p.s. Keep trackers alive(For us sample based sound terrorists!!!)

Osstudio v1 PC
I'm a long time user of octamed 2 3 5 ....
/ soundstudio on the amiga i'm very pleased with
the pc version.
Although it has alot of features, I'm a bit
concerned about the
.quality of the playback
.volume of the playback.
(these are minor things , but worth to mention)
Anyway THE BEST!!
ps; anyone tried madtracker 2 ? worth a look at

Unforunate side effect of the Windows
architecture, the next Win V2 is going to be better and the new BeOS version "flies"

Then how come other people have written trackers in the past on the PC which ran very well on a 486 ????
