Delays

The Cyclonix vocoder seems to delay everything, even when all the delay and echo settings are at minimum. We're generally working with live microphone audio. Also, is there any way to avoid the massive latency that you get when controlling the input frequency via MIDI events?

Give thanks and praises.

Cyclonix Vocoder?

Does the Cyclonix Vocoder work with Win98 and programs such as Acid 2.0 and FruityLoops?

Yes it even works on my Windows XP SoundBlaster Audigy card.

Cylonix - Robot voice

Hello everybody,

I need a few carrier noises for a robot voice. Does anyone have some or can
anyone tell me how to generate one.

Thx !

too complex - anything more simple?

Hi, I was searching the net for a simple program that could disguise voices on wav files. I found this Cylonix and tried the demo, but I couldn't make heads or tails out of its interface. I was hoping for "Step 1, load the original wav. Step 2, fiddle with controls to distort the wav, Step 3, save the results." The dozen-plus buttons on this thing leave me nowhere. Does anyone know of a product like I am hoping for? Soundblaster comes with a couple dozen "Environments", some of which disguise voices pretty well (like "UNDERWATER") but they are too crazy sounding. Does someone make additional Environments?

Re: too complex - anything more simple?

The simplest vocoder I've found on hitsquad so far is the analogx one. You may want to give that a try.

DirectX version?

Hi there - cool product, but I'd love to use it in the audio products I use (Acid, Cakewalk, etc.) as a DirectX plug-in. Any chance of that? I think there's a developer kit at www.directxfiles.com I'm not a developer, but that's where my friend told me to go for plug-ins.

Thanks!

Brian

Brian,
.....while doing alot of research myself, Ive found alot of stuff on the net.....I originally wanted to try the cyclonix as a VST plugin, but during my search, Ive found alot of stuff.......but even though I have found all this stuff, I still havent given up the the cyclonix because of its versatility!!
....If you are familiar with Hotline, check out my little sisters web site on Betty's Slave server and we have damn near all audio and plugins available.....FREE!! If you cant get on, send a message to me and Ill try to help you get on....maybe you can use something from our arsenel!!
Later!!

Vst Plug-in!!

Mr Clark,
Since we know that the delay is a latency problem from within the Windows operating system, I wanted to ask if you or any of your supporters know of any modifications that can or have been done to the cyclonix vocoder to be used as a Cubase VST Plug-in?
I really like your product especially its ease of use. But now Im trying to make a more practical use of the program! I know of a Mac based program that Steinberg markets, but nothing for PC!
Thanx
Will

Re: Vst Plug-in!!

I have thought of making a VST version, and
even have made a start at coding. But don't
expect anything soon. I am working on other
projects.
I believe that Prosoniq has a VST version
that runs on the PC.

Works really well!!

I really like the vocoder demo. I do alot of live work with my midi studio! Id like to license it, but that minor delay before signal processing really puts a damper on LIVE work! Is any further research being done in regards to the delay or any affordable solutions would be greatly welcomed! Again...vocoder works REALLY well!!

Re: Works really well!!

The delay is mainly due to the way that the
Windows Operating System deals with sound
capture. The current Windows Multimedia
or DirectX sound capture drivers have a relatively
long latency. Hopefully in Win2000 this will
be reduced, but don't hold your breath.

Mr Clark,
I want to thank you for you re prompt response! Since it seems that along with the delay of processing the Direct x, I have many other gripes with the Windows operating system(98,95 and NT)! After buying them all and they all seem to have quirks with some of my music programs as well as processing, with a few of my buddies, Im considering say maybe Linux!! Do you have any suggestions as far as an operating system that COULD reduce the latency? Or maybe some other type of driver?
Thanks
Will

Re: Works really well!!

hi, i've been looking for a realtime vocoder and in general for complex dsp'ing...
i'm a programmer and i'd like to experiment things and' i've faced your same problem: latency.

i've ended up to the orange vocoder, wich uses VST drivers to do sound I/O: VST drivers come with cubasis software from steinberg.

i'm still doing researches on these drivers; i actually don't even know how to interface to them, but maybe they can be a solution.

i'll post again in either cases: success :) or failure :(

see you!

Cylonix Vocoder

Hey everyone,

I had the opportunity to try this little piece of software recently. I must say that I actually don't know what to say. It's a nice acquaintance, but IMHO it's more of a toy than a useful tool. I only had a quick glance so I might be on thin ice here. But I felt that it has too much limitations compared with a HW vocoder. The only things I could achieve was the ordinary "techno" & "das boot" sounds. I wasn't even close to achieve more colourful sounds like "california" by 2PAc & Dr. Dre or the sound that Cher has on her new tunes. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I had no cool carrier WAV's to play with. Am I stupid or what? Can anyone with a little more experience from Cylonix Vocoder tell me if it's more powerful than I found it to be? Otherwise I'll have to get myself a HW vocoder. Please mail me or post a msg here. Btw, I tried the full version, not the demo version, at a music store.

Peace,

/jonas

Jonas,

I could be wrong, but my understanding of the "California" song was that it was a collaborration effort with Roger Troutman (of the group Zap)! Everyone knows that Roger is famous for using the "talk box" (Electro Haromonix) in his r&b, jazz flavored music (dont forget Peter Frampton)! Very cheap, but reasonably easy to find at just about any music store or pawn shop!
......my point is, different instrument, and very different process of sound. You cant emulate a talk box with a vocoder. The idea is to be creative and original with the tools you have.
As far as Cher, ....hmmmmmm $x0000 studio vs 50 dollar software........and you want something that sounds close?

SWMM BANNER

Hey, I just wanted to say touché on your response to Jonas.

Trouble!

I am unable to save as a sample. The output .wav is only 46 bytes in size. What is wrong?????

Re: Trouble!

: I am unable to save as a sample. The output .wav is only 46 bytes in size. What is wrong?????

The problem is that you are using a
hacked version. The doofus who did the
crack wasn't very good and so the resulting
program doesn't save the file properly.

Here's a hint, though - pay the money for
a registered version. It saves just fine!

Re: No DSOUND.DLL? Fatal Exception? page faults...Aol unable to

I, too have had numerous issues regarding oage errors concerning Dsound.dll. Not entirely sure what cureed it it, but I DL'ed all Windows updates, all DirectX 9.0B runtime updates, etc. Everything ran fine there after!?!?!?!? Go figure? To wit, Dsound.dll is part of the directX9.0 DL. After DLing, I ran diagX and everything was fine. Anyway, thank you AOL and MS for being completely useless in this regard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: No DSOUND.DLL? Fatal Exception?

You have a corrupted DSound.dll file. If you try to run DxDiag, you may get an error asking if you want to bypass DirectSound test.

To resolve this, try downloading the latest update to DirectX. It will overwrite the bad file with a new good one.
