Software Description

Emulation of an 18 Channel filter-bank vocoder. Requires a Pentium CPU, Windows95, and a full-duplex sound card with up to date full duplex drivers. Designed for use with SoundBlaster cards, but may work with other brands.

Some features:
Filters are 8th order (48dB/octave) digital Butterworth BPFs.
3 different filter bandwidths available
Voiced/Unvoiced detection
Sample/Hold of spectrum
Spectrum Shifting
Spectrum Inversion
Spectrum randomization
Yodel mode (LFO)
User adjustable Graphical analyzer/synthesizer spectrum map
Graphical display of spectrum levels
Each channel can be panned and level can be set individually
Internal Pulse and noise excitation as well as external inputs
Pitch tracker
Can record output to a WAV file
Can read in WAV files to use as carrier or modulators
Sibilance feedthrough (like PAIA, Bode vocoders)
EQ mode.

I've got a 486DX4 (36MB) with a Pro Audio Spectrum 16.
After sound device selection the program hangs...

For those who are having trouble getting
the cylonix vocoder to run, please note the
following:

- Cyrix chips have an inferior floating point
unit and cannot keep up with the computational
demands of the program. You should have at least
a 120 MHz Pentium. AMD chips seem to work OK.

- You should have the most recent drivers for
your sound card. Older versions of the Creative
Labs drivers have bugs which cause the sound to
drop out or the program to hang. You can get
the drivers from the Creative Labs web site.

- There are some problems running the program
on some non-Creative labs sound cards. I'm not
sure the reason for these, because I don't have
these sound cards to test.

If you have any problem just send me email
and I will see if I can help you out.

This program does not work with any Cyrix chips for some reason. I purchased an AMD 200 MMX chip and it works fine. It's a coollittle program. Just todya it stopped working though. I upgraded my SB drivers though, somaybe that had something to with it.
